@@TheMindHealth360Show thank you. I read the summary (which is great). I mean a literal transcript. I woke overnight and started watching this, then made notes, then went back and made them from the jump. With something this packed with information, as a layperson, it’s helpful to have the “script” to read and refer to. Smiling wryly as I write because my overnight activity is not in the spirit of looking after “that one cell!” One short sleep night was totally worth it for all of this information. Brilliant doctor and such good questions and comments. Really enjoyed it. New sub.

In theory what she is saying sounds good. But to bring this to all the folks who need it would require funding and training that is never going to happen. For us providers at community mental health centers the best we can do is stabilize with medication, connect the patient with a therapist and remind the patient at every visit how critical diet, exercise and mindfulness are. My hope is that federally funded CMHC will someday facilitate classes in mindfulness, exercise and diet on the same level as psychopharmacology and talk therapy. With this support I'm guessing that some of my patients would eventually be fine without meds. So please don't assume that those of us working in the current model are unaware of what you are speaking about.

I’m studying biomedicine and have navigated critical illness. I’m also navigating autoimmune diagnosis.
This is fascinating and brilliant. I tried to have conversations around this with medical providers during my care and it fell on deaf ears.
The medical community in the UK wouldn’t engage with my thinking. Hence I read more and more and started studying biomedicine formally.
I’ve found a therapist who insists she is experienced in trauma, yet doggedly insists on not needing to understand the why but focusses on the how.
I’ve challenged that because it feels superficial. I’ve been referred to a homeopathic medical doctor who - aside from prescribing mistletoe - prescribed stress and anxiety tinctures.
I’ve focussed on improving my sleep and diet and bringing my nervous system down.
It’s so hard. Trying to read and understand my body and attendant nervous system in the way this amazing doctor describes feels impossible.
Until this video I felt so alone in how I’m trying to learn and change things for myself.
Truly grasping complex biology and translating that biochemically and neurologically is brilliant but difficult.
I felt insulted and annoyed when my homeopathic doctor prescribed stress and anxiety meds without explaining that.
Epigenetics is what I need. Not all patients/ clients will handle this because it’s complex and takes a lot of time and effort to truly understand.
I’ve been trying to unpack this in on my own and feel as if I’ve just been seen and heard for the first time as I listen to this. It makes me feel hopeful.
The practical reality is life is very stressful and difficult. I feel unsupported and unseen. So your points resonate from a patient/ client perspective. I won’t continue with my therapist. This has made me realise the extent to which she doesn’t get it and how much I need to explore this doctor’s teachings. If only I had access to this doctor beyond the internet!
Not expecting the therapeutic community to have this lady’s knowledge but I know beyond all doubt, this is what I need.
