    Like the use of swept back bars on the older mountain bikes. I've done that on my bikes due to back issues, I'm in my 60s and riding in an aero position isn't happening anymore.

    I love a good solid comfy ratbike - this one looks bulletproof. I'm dying to do a build with a handlebar like that! The Quadra fork brings back memories, it was supposed to be the first "affordable" suspension fork according to magazines, so as a kid I got obsessed with the idea of getting one, but I still couldn't afford it so had to wait many more years until I got a nasty RST instead. Have you found the chain stays put on that single chainring OK? My Bianchi ratbike has been a nightmare with its 1x conversion.

    • @garysprojects
      @garysprojects  Рік тому

      Cheers mate it’s def a fun ride ! I was suprised how well the Quadra worked, fairly stiff and no noise! Hahah yea I think rst were a bit heavier.
      The chain stays on fairly well and didn’t drop once during this video. I would say maybe drop 2-3 times since building this bike (originally when it had rigid forks and different bars). but it’s been many months now though. I think maybe the short cage derailleur helps ? Or my soft riding 😂

    Love the look of this bike building something similar...the diamond back frame I've got is really to big but I love the ride of it especially with different bars of an old marin...but plans to swap them for something with more upsweep..cheers,steve uk

      Jammed seat post is currently preventing me from doing that...its a basic bike that needed some love...I lived 26 years outside and work doing odd jobs so it just needs to be comfortable and reliable...I been living with my partner for two years now...in her house so at least both myself and my bike get to stay indoors.lol...thanks for the reply by the way, appreciate it, thank you

    I enjoyed this video, mate, on my Gary Fisher mountain bike. The marozocchi bomer forks were leaking mineral oil. I think the seals were broken, but I did manage to pump them up, but it's not perfect I loved what you did with the bike adding the swept back handlebars I added some honda bars to my fat tyre cafe racer style electric bike and the are really comfortable 😊

    I find the process of dishing the wheel very intriguing because I personally find it somewhat intimidating to attempt myself. Therefore, if you have any tips and tricks regarding straightening and dishing wheels, they would be more than welcome. :D

    • @garysprojects
      @garysprojects  Рік тому +1

      Yeah it can be a bit tricky but the more you practice the better it gets. I would start off with just a small bump and try to get it out - always make sure you are turning the spoke nipple in the right direction because it’s easy to get it mixed up. You could try to do it like how I did on a stand and just use your brake pads as a guide - you can use your barrel adjuster to bring the pads in slowly til you hear a tiny scrape then tru the wheel until you don’t hear it anymore. Then bring the pads in a tiny bit closer and repeat the process or until you had enough. Trying it is the only way you will learn! Good luck 👍
