    Honestly, I think this isn't that different from what the big Airlines have done in the recent past. If they really want more pilots, airliners should create "in house" training departments or pay for training. Obviously there would be stipulations on employment afterwards but there are too many prospective pilots out there that don't have the money to afford the training.

      Agreed 💯

    • @tkcreativeco
      @tkcreativeco Рік тому +15

      Paying for training would be a BIG initial cost for them, but would bring in the amount of pilots they are wanting. That is the one thing stopping me from trying to become commercial pilot is the fact it costs $100k+.

    • @hjc0706
      @hjc0706 Рік тому +10

      @@tkcreativeco That's the thing, it wouldn't cost them $100k if they had everything inhouse. Have mechanics, own aircraft, instructors, etc. I think they're afraid of loosing pilots to other airlines, or the investment they'll have to explain to the shareholders.
      -Interview and health check pilots with PPL w/ X hours.
      -Setup a loan, and offer to forgive it with X years of service.

    For anyone still interested in the program: they have updated pricing. It will cost about $90k now for all ratings up through MEI and they have suspended taking applications through to the end of 2024. So if you apply today and are one of the few selected, you won't see a start date until at least 2025.

    Meu Deus que sonho poder acompanhar seus vôos aqui na tela do meu celular. Daria tudo para poder voltar alguns anos da minha vida e poder ter condições de me tornar um piloto de aviões. Infelizmente fiquei velho perseguindo meu sonho de me tornar piloto..e não consegui. Aqui no Brasil é muito caro se tornar piloto..Deus acabou me reservando o futuro de um mecânico de aviões fracassado e sujo como meu superior me fala.Pelo menos uma parte do meu sonho realizei... todos os dias fico do lado de uma avião...pra concertar é claro! Quando fico no cockpit,fecho os meus olhos e me imagino pilotando... quando abro os olhos me vejo sozinho com meu velho uniforme surrado de mecânico.. outra parte boa é quando chego em casa e faço um vôo no meu computador. Me sinto muito feliz quando estou simulando até mesmo quando meu PC velho fica falhando e travando. Estarei sempre acompanhando seus vôos aqui pela telinha do meu celular e me imaginando pilotando uma máquina como a do senhor. Infelizmente a pessoa que queria ter me visto como piloto de aviões partiu a dois meses..meu querido pai. Bom vou seguindo aqui do chão concertando aviões até onde meu corpo aguentar.
    Deus lhe abençoe Comandante..sou seu fã.. Abraços do Brasil. Itamar

    I went to flight school and dropped out because I couldn't afford it anymore and with my job (which I need to live) I didn't have enough time to get studying in there. I was a Flight Attendant (not the job at time of flight school) for a while, I quit but for other reason that have nothing to do with aviation, it just wasn't for me. But the course to become an FA was perfect! They fly you out to headquarters, they put you up in a hotel for a couple months. They have (at least the airline I flew on) a beautifully structured program to help people learn the material of all learning levels. And ya know what?!?!? I DIDN'T GET LESS THAN A 96% (very specific I know, but I remember because I usually got 100's) ON ANY EXAM THEY GAVE ME. We went to school Mon-Fri (occasionally on Sat for certain drills) 8AM-5Pm,6pm,or 7pm depending on the lesson than went home, studied with our roommates for an hour or two while we ate dinner than did it again the next day. Sat and Sun we studied a bit more in the morning but we also did fun stuff to enjoy ourselves, go out and have a couple of drinks since there was no class the next day and at training we had to start the alcohol rule which was no alcohol 12 hours prior to report time, in this case was 8AM. The way flying courses are structured now is like "here are the books, read the whole book, I teach you to fly the plane, then you're going to take your test, whether you fail or not isn't my problem". This academy is a step up from that. But still Can't afford it and taking loans out will just put you in debt even further. I know maybe it might cost them some money but IF they would structure these programs the way Flight Attendant trainings are I guarantee you won't have a pilot shortage anymore, i'll put money on that. And there wasn't just that one exam we took to be a FA, we took multiple, they should have that too, a lot of testing. Am I saying EVERYONE will make it through, most likely not as the same way in FA, it hurt to see the crying faces of those who just couldn't keep up with the material (then there were those who did stupid shit so I didn't really feel bad for them). But That is just how it is. Never the less, I guarantee any airline to try this and you'll see an increase in pilots within 3 years. Obviously the courses will have to be a bit longer than FA training. But just try it and I'll bet money we wont have a pilot shortage anymore. Sorry for rambling on and on but I had to say that. And obviously it wouldn't be like like "Oh, you passed now go apply to the airlines". If this is with United, you would have to be a pilot for united for I would say a MIN of 5 years, a minimum, maybe longer considering the money they invested in you. If you read my whole argument, please let me know what you think.

    UAA fosters a culture of intimidation. Many students have been let go after speaking out or complaining to hire-ups for vague reasons, and therefore students currently at the school are too scared to speak out. School management constantly has all eyes and ears open for any sign of dissent or criticism and is looking over everyone’s shoulder.

    Do you think there´s good or rather chances for people like me, coming from Germany (in case you manage to get a green card) and directly from their bachelor program? Especially considering that recruiters will probably think about the fact that people might not like life in America and move back after pilot training or some years on the job which is obviously not what United´s looking for given that they probably want everybody onboard to stay with them as long that´s somehow possible in terms of age and health?

      @@olivererdle1257 bare minimum 2 years for a United Express partner. The transition from the partner to United is guaranteed. and the pay as a first officer at most of them is around $40-$50K your first year and when you upgrade to captain perhaps at the 1.5-2.5 year mark, you would jump to $65-$80K. Pay depends on how many hours you fly, per diem, profit sharing bonuses, and multipliers on pay if you pick up time obviously. Picking up time on your days off can pay 150%-300% depending on how bad they need a pilot. So flying on your days of can make those numbers wildly different.
      And then obviously when you transition, you will make significantly more money your second year at United. somewhere around $150k depending on aircraft and again how much you fly.

      That "traditional" route doesn't work anymore. The wait time for flight training in the military is very long and they now make you commit 10+ years before leaving to join an airline. The military doesn't want to spend all that money and resources to train you only to have you leave after a few years. That ship sailed long ago.

    3. Fly for a regional before going to a legacy? Check.
