I always find it odd when people get so angry in situations like that, it's not like getting mad with Ben was going to un-crash the cars. Figure out what happened, make a plan to make sure it doesn't happen again, and move on. Guess it makes sense why that guy is still in amateur classes.
Literally. And its fucking racing. Accidents happen, its part of the sport. You damn well know whats a potential hazard & going to happen in a sport like this. Cars are rebuildable, people are not. IT was a minor accident too. Nothing to get aggressive about like that man did.
When you get off the track after a race you're hopped up on adrenaline and people don't always think clearly, even more so if someone just hit your car. No matter how much they didn't mean to do it, it happened. Lots of emotions going on
It was an HONOR to coach and race with you guys, both in the simulator and in real life! Such amazing team and great people to be around! Hope to see you on track again very soon!
Actually crazy that I saw this after getting into your 50 tips series from UA-cam shorts. I was like HEY I KNOW THAT GUY! Also didn't know you were a fellow Canadian. Tear it up man 👌
Absolutely loving this channel's emphasis on real Motorsport at the grassroots level, it's something no other channel is doing to the same extent and it's the reason I don't miss a single upload. Keep up the good work everyone, can't wait to see you out on track again.
I hope race direction didn't look too much into Ben's incident. When you have a very full grid of mixed capability cars and mixed ability drivers you are bound to have some bumps. The ice mode issue is something I'd be more worried about since it seemed to affect things in such a serious way.
Sim drifting has greatly improved my driving. I only can go to events once every few months now. It doesnt give me the same practice as a car but it allows me to keep my muscle memory fresh. I use vr which honestly without i probably wouldnt sim drive much.
This was awsome, I love these videos because everyone can relate here. I knew this already, to be its been clear for decades that even just playing a driving game at all on a computer or console helps. You learn everything! From lines to just basic behavior and weight transfer to suspension and braking... Colin McRae, BTCC, Early F1 games and Grand Tourismo games, all of them had enough detail to teach you a lot if you payed attention and I played all of those, even if you play on a controller it helps. I do a ton of flightsims these days, fly a ton of helicopters, probably got 1000 hours or more in them over the passed 2,5 years. And I'm pretty confident I could fly a helicopter alright very quickly, ofc, procedures and stuff I would be bad at, I have not learnt much of that but I think I could fly one pretty well. First time I drove a car I had very few problems, I just put it in gear and drove it... no real issue. And this was in the late 90's and early 2000's, and I could drive a manual from day one. Never understood why people have such problems with it tbh. I did gokarts years ago one day, had not been in one in a decade by then and now its been another decade or so... and I was fastest on track... probably helped that I weighed as much as a pair of socks... I was so skinny I almost flew out of my seat in the corners. All because I knew how to find the lines and where to push long before I got in that gokart. This was just rental karts ofc, nothing serious, but still cool to get the fastest time on track.
The Sim 10000% helps transfer over to real life, especially when it came to teaching me techniques and learning the track lay out. Ofcpurse you'll adapt to the real deal but it's a huge help
I get the same level of guilt Ben had when i hit people in online racing so i could only imagine the feelings that come with contact irl. Shout out the team for keeping morale up in that moment. And that battle at the end! Those moments where you’re fighting tooth and nail against another car through multiple corners are what racing is all about imo.
Cmon viewers we need to give the channel more attention. Watching is a huge help but engaging in comments/give the video a thumbs up give the channel a bigger boost to make it to more people there for more videos🙌🏼
Guys, thanks i just watched all of your trips. Recently i watch an old vídeo of ben throught his childhood videogames, and now this! Not only a video bout cars, and games, its about passion and the things that come with it. Just wonderful to watch. Thanks again from Argentina 🇦🇷
Would have been interesting to see out on track prior to sim and then back to track to compare the results or one Ben only sim prior to track and the other only track
Finally got a chance to watch this EP, and wow loved it! Glad to have been a part of that race weekend and help out where I could. I rate this episode 11/10, Dial it UP pals!
We know Ben was not on purpose to hit somebody, but game is game, life is life. I really like the environment that after the game everybody is still peace and respect. Good race
The #1thing that loved about this video is how real it all felt. The point about brushing off an accident in the sim vs real life is all too true! Sigh... Ben I could literally take ur pain and apply it myself.
Amazing. I am a Sim Racer turned Car Guy and love when you guys occasionally cross the 2. Hope to some day race myself but keep up the great work, I always love to keep coming back!
After watching others move from sim racing to doing so RL, the outcome of this video was never really in doubt to me. it was still amazing to watch though, especially watching Lin beast out!
One day maybe I will understand high end sim rigs without VR. It's such a game changer to have depth perception and be able to look exactly where you need to
If your in calabogie, drive from Clayton to Griffith!! It’s and amazing back road for spirited driving. I’ve lived here all my life and it’s surreal to see you guys at the track. I’ve never driven it in my veloster N, but I did on my 4wheeler back when they were building it.
The first time i jumped into a real race car from the sim, i was quite surprised how much easier everything was thanks to the feel of the g-force. At home i don't have motion seat, so everything has to be felt only through the wheel. Predicting and catching slides was thousands of times easier. Having the feel for the grip of the tires with your entire body, instead of only your hands is absolute game changer. Small wonder that just after 4 laps i beat my all-time PB from the sim where i felt like i couldn't improve anymore. It's a really amazing stuff how advanced sims have become when racing in real life feels actually easier.
@@extremeencounter7458 I guess it depends on which components - ARBs, springs, shocks and chassis are pretty easy to simulate with almost perfect accuracy to real life, so their real life vs simulation difference shouldn't be big if present at all. It's the tires are extremely hard to replicate in the virtual world. That's where i'll put my money the biggest difference is. At some point there will be a developer, who would come up with a game engine that perfectly simulates rotational mass, forces and deformation, but we are probably a decade away from that.
What a awesome video! I could almost feel all the adrenaline involved in the race, and what a racing end! Top notch production, keep it up and thanks for such a great piece of entertainment!
If I could give this video 1k likes, I would. AMAZING content, great analysis, and I felt like I was in the car with you guys during the races. My heart was pumping hard during that laat race scene. Awesome work, we all love you and your work.
I don’t comment much but I just wanted to say fantastic job to the both of you, and wow what a video! I’ve been subscribed to you guys for years and this has got to be the best one so far. Great job G&G Team!!!
Gotta say, typically I like build videos more than on-track videos, but you guys are the opposite. I love your build content, but your track videos are truly something special.
Decided to re-watch this today and surprisingly at 9:15 I saw that 1 series being trailered down Highway 7 heading towards Autopark Circle only a few days ago. No wonder I thought I had seen it before. Perhaps this is the universe's way of telling me to get a 1 series.
This was such a good video, kept me on my toes the whole time! I got into sim racing last summer and it’s made me such a better driver, took my car to my first autocross a few months ago and felt totally comfortable.
I'm so excited to see you guys do endurance/wheel to wheel racing this year! Absolutely love the on-board footage, thoughts throughout the race and short hints at the strategy. On top of that, your editing just makes it flawless and an absolute treat to watch!
wow! this is the fist time in a LONG time since I watched a UA-cam video with such level of thrill/ great camera work, fantastic editing, super balanced text and ... thanks!
I get damage to the car and it was probably in the heat of the moment where the civic driver was being upset but everyone is okay. Amazing driving guys.
I had a cheap 500$ set up with the controls and the seat for ps4. Way easier in the game than real life, but it honestly did help me with my hands on and feet on how I drive my 6 speed
Yes 3 times for passing the civic. That man who negatively expressed his feelings on to you earlier got it back in a manly way , the issue was resolved on track ! Congratulations Ben!
You guys are living the dream man. But the real way to do this would be to try the real life session first, then the sim, then go back to the track and see if your times improve. Send me an email when you want to try it out. :)

I know how Ben Lin felt. That old guy doesn't know that errors are made. That's a great comparison video as well.
I always find it odd when people get so angry in situations like that, it's not like getting mad with Ben was going to un-crash the cars.

the old man expecting race track to have zero accidents lmao... *cough* *oil, coolant spills* *cough*

Hope to see you on track again very soon!

DIAL IT DOWN, PAL! 😂😂😂 Ice Mode is so frustrating, but old man grumpy-pants wasn't having any of it. You took his abuse like a champ, Benjibop.
It's so refreshing to see a GT86 without a RocketBunny bodykit and actually being driven.
Lightly modded race-spec 86s are never not cool. 😎
What an absolute roller coaster, you guys are legends for making content like this.
Absolutely loving this channel's emphasis on real Motorsport at the grassroots level, it's something no other channel is doing to the same extent and it's the reason I don't miss a single upload. Keep up the good work everyone, can't wait to see you out on track again.
This must be the most suspenseful video I've seen from G&G. Excellent work and great racing!
These wheel to wheel racing videos are so good! Hoping you guys put out more of them, joy to watch as an average sim racer!
Jeez that crash feel brutal, but that's how it happens
I hope race direction didn't look too much into Ben's incident. When you have a very full grid of mixed capability cars and mixed ability drivers you are bound to have some bumps. The ice mode issue is something I'd be more worried about since it seemed to affect things in such a serious way.
love to see Suellio getting some spotlight! I've learned so much from his youtube vids

Does this mean my almost 3 decades of sitting on my couch playing Gran Turismo and Forza wasnt all for nothing???
Yes, you are probably formula 1 material, your hard work has paid off
praying a sim with joysticks is the not the same msucle memory as a wheel

These racing videos you guys have been putting out have been so good. Loved this episode.
Big props for Ben L to come back even harder after the contact.
You guys did an amazing job capturing and producing that feeling of hitting someone and crashing in a race on someone else’s car. Great film!
best video this year from G&G, awesome job guys!
Drama, F1 memes, amazing footage, this video had it all, great job guys
Absolute legends. Another gem of a video.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Also, kudos on using the Corsair Virtuoso headset. Love mine
With that "civic" car in the end talk was give me some happiness that I cant explain.
sims have been around for awhile and are only getting better, I am excited to see how real it can get.

All true, though I wonder how much the real flex component adds to traction in real life, as it seems in real life there's always a hair more grip

love the guys with the Civic. they were such good sports!

After years of playing Mario Kart. I can finally put my experience to the test!
I'm unused to seeing a GR86 without "ASM" stamped on the side :D
That was a fantastic video, loved every second of it, and that was some fantastic racing!
Seems that Ben Lin needs to get himself a newer 86 for track duty.
Well done out there, you guys did great.
That Porsche wheel y’all have in the sim cost more than my whole rig
