  • Harry Christophers is interviewed by Elin Manahan Thomas about ‘70 - A Life in Music’, a new album that follows each decade of Harry’s extraordinary musical education and career and celebrates his milestone 70th Birthday!
    Part 2 - 1963 - 1973: The King’s School, Canterbury
With the big step up from cathedral chorister to studying at The King’s School, Canterbury, came a wave of new experiences for Harry. Singing larger and more impressive works, solo arias and being able to get his teeth stuck into some ‘proper music’. The experiences at school were readily available and he was thrust into the choral tradition with the academic musical training to back it up.
Aside from the choral music he was by now familiar with, Harry remembers going into school and listening to Black Sabbath in secret because it had been banned by the school masters!
