- The protagonist of this episode of Combat Approved will be the most modern combat training aircraft of the Russian Army Yak-130. This aircraft has already set nine world records in its class. And now the designers if the Yak-130 aim beat another record: the Yak-130 is claiming to become the most popular Russian military aircraft abroad. Five countries have already adopted it. Now the sixth, Laos, is next in line. It is here, in this exotic country lost in the jungles of Indochina, where Combat Approved goes. To see with their own eyes how the inhabitants of the country, which was at war with the American Armed Forces 50 years ago, meet our equipment. Why not Putin talk to our current Malaysian administration for our air force TUDM to acquire this YAK-130 for the LAC fleet? Way back in 2003 we acquired 18 of the Su-30 MKM version, thanks to Putin accepted our payment mode, palm oil barter trade & cash.
If you want, you can buy a Su-75. Fifth generation, light, single-engine aircraft:) An export version of the Su-57, something like that.

U2's first flight was in 1955. It's a high altitude reconnaissance aircraft.. Yak 130 first flight 1996, a multi-role trainer..as a pilot and cultured traveler I respect all aviation, not sure why these two are even being compared though

They're in the same weight class as indicated the Yak vastly exceeds it's performance these Russian / Italian designed craft are an excellent low cost trainer with combat ability.

@@yfelwulf It's still a silly comparison. If you're going to compare aircraft compare it with an aircraft that fulfils a similar role. Could have compared it with the BAe Hawk, it's also a versatile mulitrole jet trainer, compare apples with apples. The Yak-130 is an excellent platform that can hold its own against similar trainers offered from the West so it would be better to show that.
The INDIAN MiG-21 has recently shot down an F16,, it shows that the Russian aviation is so much capable in dog fight.
The Indian pilot was probably more experienced. Pakistan probably buys cheap copied replacement parts for f-16 from china.

Geopolitics aside, I've always admired the YAK130, which is far more than a trainer, as it can just as easily undertake ground attack roles, as well as air interception roles - it's effectively a Swiss Army Knife version of an avionic ninja!!!
You can also see the influences of the SU25 in its design characteristics, but in a more compact form.
The Yak-130 is good start to rebuild the Lao People's Liberation Army Air Force since the Mig-21 retired due to funding and lack of spare parts. This trainer aircraft will help Laos fighter pilot to prepare flying 4++ Generation Multirole Fighters in the future. The good choice 4++ Multirole Fighters choice for the LPLAAF is the single engine JF-17 Block 3 Thunder or FC-20E Firebird export version of the J-10C Vigorous Dragon.

If you mean T-72B1MS that Russia gave to Laos, it's not old, its fire control system is better than T-90S vietnam and on a par with Thailand's Oplot-T, however, Laos's tank protection is worse.
@@TheKaMeLRo i think it doesnt matter a lot in the jungle. And i think they gave russian T72b3m wich is not inferior to any western tank. IT has 125mm smooth bore cannon that can shoot guided anti tank missiles on a greater distance then any western tank

Sadly they got most of their facts regarding the United States totally wrong. United States is not imperialistic and does not want to take over any other countries and impose their brand of government upon them. The USSR was totally committed to imposing their will upon every country they possibly could. When we assist another country we do it for no payment and leave without forcing anything upon that country. The philosophies could not be more different. The United States never controlled Laos as implied. We attempted to assist their government toward off the infiltrators who were promoting Communism in a very violent way. We also are not pushing our not pushing our weaponry as well. Of course the performance of all of our weapons in comparison to those of the Former USSR is public knowledge. In the last 40 years United States war warplanes have down to owned 2 or 3 dozen Soviet jets with no with no loss on our part whatsoever. During the Gulf war we took out he took out hundreds of tanks and and not one tank tank of the allies was destroyed by enemy fire. Even our Vietnam era M60 tanks destroyed T72 tanks without any losses. The proof is in the pudding... as they say.
