WOW . . . every songs are superb so pleasant to listen with . press like to those who are enjoying these music like me . 👌👌👌 The songs makes my day 💖💖💖
This is a beautiful video. The images and music are crystal clear. I can hear every nuance of the vocalists and the musical instruments. Not to mention the wonderful songs they're playing! Sergio Mendes really shows his love of the music.
Remembering that Dan was so sad the October we met because his dad died. Hope this October will be easier for him and all of us mourning those who died for Israel 🇮🇱 The Nova Festival
Such wonderful variety of music the sixties had. I was 11 years in 1965, right in the eye of the musical storm. Now at 69, oh how I miss those days. I just feel like exploding in ecstasy listening to this music and recalling those times. 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the memories. So glad I got to see the original band in Central Park (New York City) on a beautiful summer night back in the 60s. Outstanding. 🙌🏻
Fantastic! Some of Sergio Mendes' greatest hits from the time of his “Brazil 66”, “Brazil 77,” and “Brazil 88” groups. Part of the soundtrack of my life!😊
This is truly, truly nice. Beautiful girls, beautiful music. What's missing? The concert taking place on a sunny beach, waves crashing against the shore, palms trees swaying in the breeze in the background.
Thank you Sergio Mendes and Brasil 88.. Beautiful Ladies..Wonderful singing..Great instrumental backing..Love and Blessings from Robert of Adelaide South Australia
A rare occurrence these days”…….. Beautiful and crispy voices accents and music…in a very clean setting without any “smoke filled-shadows ..blinding lights or any other obstructive or distracting gadgetry “. ……..and the result is amazing…….and one for the ages…….
Not to mention: without a stage full of backup dancers thrashing about to distract you from the fact that the singer is lip-syncing and you're hearing a bunch more instruments than are present on stage.
A Beautiful Musical Gift / Love of Music,Mankind and of course Beautiful talented Ladies to the World!! The majic of the music gives the listener and the world a BIG HUG simultaneously!!
Marietta, I want to wish you and all the Brazil 66, 77, and 88 family my condolences on the passing of Sergio, I know you have some profound history with him in your earlier music career, no one did Samba and Bossa Nova like Sergio and your musical family, and so loved watching him and you all perform. He brought much musical joy and class to our world which he will now share with God, Heaven and Universe.
Thank you for the Beautiful music I love Sergio Mendez and his Ladies!! Love this kind of music the World is a better place because of music like this!!
I'm crying at the spirit! I ADORE SERGIO and this song..... Today was the lockdown freedom and humans were behaving like weirdos.... prefer to go back to 1979 - THANK YOU for this video! xxxx
Maravilhosa musica, Parabens , Mr. Sergio Mendes😢😢😢❤❤❤
Thanks so much for posting this.... I was playing bass with Sergio at the time.....I always thought it was never aired.....the other players are Oscar Castro-Neves and David Amaro on guitars Alan Diaz on drums Ron Powell on percussion. The group was actually Brasil 88.
Thanks, Warren, that was a fun night! Yes, it aired, but only in mono and only once. Although HBO reluctantly paid for the stereo mix, they did not want it on their 2" master we delivered. But Bill the editor at Compact Video was a good guy and he laid it back for me onto a 3/4" cassette so this is the only stereo mix of the show. Your band was TIGHT and you're a fantastic bass player. Thanks for the correction, I changed it to Brasil 88.
I am crying watching this video, the music of my country Brazil singered in other language. The músic put the walls down. Is very much emotion. Thanks for post.
I appreciate the recognition, can I find the album that contains the "DISTACIA" by Sergio and the group. I heard of his music first hand in 1982 when I visited Nigeria and fell in love please help, and put me on subscription. Wish you well.
This is a fantastic recording, It's so well balanced and you can hear every instrument and their position/space within the mix. Sounds like it was recorded today ...Analogue rules !!
There will never be another Sergio Mendes or another Coconut Grove. Very historic place when it comes to entertainment. The duet that started(It was nothing at all)after the 5:30 mark it was amazing. Both singers were so tight.
Sir Sergio, Obrigado pela Música, and for THE reason I wonderfully got introduced to my fave music genre ----- Bossanova/Samba and all forms of it. *Today will be my HiFi Sergio Mendes Marathon Listening Dedication Day.*
Brings back memories of those days when music was really great. Relaxing music that we can listen to everyday. Also memories of seeing Sergio Mendes here in Manila in 1975 and when I visited Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1977. They had Marietta Waters in 1977 and Bonnie Bowden in 1975. But my favorite Sergio Mendes singer of all time is definitely Marietta Waters. Here at her prettiest and classiest in this video. Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much Michael. This is so precious. I love every era of Sergio Mendes. But the 77 and 88 line-up with Bonnie Bowden, Marietta Waters and Carol Rogers filled albums with vocal dynamics.

Thanks, that's Phil Seretti. We laid it down on a 24-track and spent DAYS getting it perfect, thanks to Phil. The final was mono. I had the stereo mix laid back to a 3/4" cassette for posterity, and this is it.
Wow - wasn't expecting a detailed personal response (thank you !) but, just to be clear, every voice and instrument is crystal clear. One question - I'm listening in stereo in my study and yet you say it's a mono mix - I can hear really good separation here - is that correct that it's a mono mix ?
This IS the stereo mix. The problem is, the only way it exists is on the 3/4" cassette, which I digitized. The final that we delivered to HBO was a 2" master in MONO. HBO thought I was an idiot for mixing it in stereo. :)
@@MichaelPart hi Michael, i just ask you ,WHY did HBO not be interested in the stereo version as one would be insane not to want stereo in the first place! ?.
We love you Bonnie, Thank you so very kindly for sharing your love and Heart for Music with us. Very Magical times back then. All of you are very wonderful and Beautiful, Dear Ones!
Really loved seeing this. I've always loved the Sergio Mendez sound. Pure heaven to watch and listen to. Thanks for posting this! Made my sleepless night really enjoyable.
All of us from the 70’s cool evenings or hot 🥵 days whenever annoying the neighbors that we could afford the records haha lol show offs. I worked at a radio station and we would play all the time in the sound room these musics. Taped and sold it👍👍. Hey i am here in 2020 Nov grooving along. My home is in South America.

I do love & miss this kind of music with the genuine skillful artists .. Compare to today's .. They're all nothing. That's the reality. Mas Que Nada reminds me of my childhood of my dad played the song in tape recorder in late 70's. Thank you for the video, Michael. Bless you & them all. ✨
It’s August 2024, I still like the Sergio Mendes group. Thank you for posting🙏💐
Still good music after almost 50 years had passed.
And I feel young again listening to these classics.
Goes right to the heart!!!!!
I saw Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 with a Brasilian frien in London in 1969/70. The building rocked!

I saw this very group in Paris. I was sitting just 2 rows behind Baden Powell... The vocalists were amazing. Sergio Mendes is a true legend.

Sergio and the great Lani Hall! What a voice she has, the sound of Brasil 66
such a High, watching them
Lani Hall is not in that clip. You are a bit dense..

Nice still learning songs at 50 yrs that is
There’s just something about that Latin beat…❤
Great band. One Of of my favorites Never got to see them LIVE.

Warren Giancaterino I am a bass aficionado (sort of a bass player wannabe). Love this group and your sound. Greatjob brother.
Warren, I don't know if I asked you, but do you remember whether Alan played drums for the Association at that gig?
Warren Giancaterino thanks so much. Such a pleasure to hear

Beautiful sound. If I was stranded on an island and had to choose only one group to listen to, Brazil 66 would be that group hands down!
The stereo imaging of the recording is really fantastic. Thanks !!
Thanks for sharing this legend in Brazilian jazz, Sergio Mendes and girls always smooth, romantic and sensual so Brazilian , Bravo..😍
Gen X and Millenials, eat your heart out! This is class stuff that you won't see again...
This is how it’s done!!
Completely correct!🤗
What, they can’t listen to it now? 🙄
Cease the assholiness in your commenting.
What harmony - and such beautiful chord changes!
Unison voices are under used in music today. Sergio as well as Simon and Garfunkel knew that unison voices work wonders.
