I have tried one of those fire strand paracord tinder and I was very unimpressed. I would take a lot of one waxed strand to get enough to use as a fire starter, especially in a wet area. In an area with bone dried wood it will work.
What I would like to see is you or anyone else go out in the wild and USE one of those "survival cards". I have serious doubts about their efficacy. Show me.
NOTE: aqua tab brand water tablets work in 30 minutes which is great but they do not kill cryptosporidium.. so I also carry Katadyne which take longer but kill crypto

I’d probably place water purification tablets in a small plastic bag in case the entire thing got wet?
You could throw a Suunto Cliper compass in there as well.
That would be an upgrade. I would pack it a little differently for my own use.

If you're camping, you already have your survival pack! Of course, you carry a knife and Firestarting materials in your pockets
I agree completely. This is just for lightweight redundancy or if your separated from your main gear.
I know Aquatabs do have an expiration, but do they really deteriorate enough to be ineffective over added years?
