Dude Nikhil plays so smart it makes me mad. None of his shots were that impressive to me in terms of quality like spin and power, but his placement is sooooo goooood bro.
He hit this inside out forehand that was super low, powerful and wide while starting from the middle of the table, I'm not sure how he did it, but he was playing on a different level. Send that guy to more WTT events.
@@LosAngelesTableTennis someone get him outta college and into wtt fr this guy is a genius.
Nikhil's backhand was better than Jishan's. Jishan looked very tentative with his backhand rallies. He needs to work on improving that and next time go after Nikhil's forehand more with short serves to his forehand. And some long sidespin to his backhand. Congrats to Nikhil on a well-played game.
Just listening to the match makes me wonder if Harimoto is playing...
Nikhil gets a 10/10 score for variety and passion in his cho-ing. I approve. He has a deep bag.
Harimoto isn't bothering me anymore, he's at least showing respect to many opponents, I watched the live this guy yelling is so annoying! 🤦♂
Thanks for the video, btw! An angle and lighting that are better 👍
@Sam-fg5mi here's the thing, I haven't met one person in USATT that isn't anything but humble and respectful. I'm sure there are a few that have a poor reputation but I could count those on one hand. Nikhil isn't anything but respectful, and because of the size of our community, almost all competitors are also really close friends. You are free to judge all you want, but those are my two cents.
Yeah, Nikhil needs to chill just a bit. But props to him for playing extremely well.
@LosangelesTableTennis Lol, I didn't mean to judge anyone, it was just annoying to me and I expressed my feelings, nothing more. However, I noticed some viewers complaining about his poor 'sportsmanship' during the live chat! I hope we get a much larger community one day. Thank you for your feedback.
Nikhil should have middle name Harimoto.
Nikhil has very compact attacking style and capable of covering the balls very early. Impressive for his height!
i watch the national and this match several times, jishan definitely played with better tactics and won as a result. Ronald Lee also beat kumar at the la open. No kumar has been struggling. He did get hot at the national and has cooled off.
Don't know either of these guys. But the performance of Liang made me curious how he made it to the final.
Ya, Nikhil really played well here and it makes me curious what their head 2 head history looks like. I feel jishan missed a lot of shots that he was hitting in previous matches. It may just be a case of having an off day.
I heard last night that for this tournament only US citizens can play?
That's correct, only US Citizens for this event. They have some other events that are open to anyone. the US Open, however is open to thr world.
Yes, that's why it's called the US Nationals.
for everybody's info, yesterday at the silicon valley championship, jishan got his revenge and beat kumar.
Did nikhil ironed his head?
I don't think so, that seems like a bad idea and Nikhil is a pretty intelligent guy.
i think he is referring to his receding hairline and comb over.

Where is Sharon? :(
I think he's just coaching at ping pod. Nikhil gave him a shoutout in the lost Match interview.
*Post match interview
What happened to Kanak?
I want to see kanak play too!
He's currently suspended (until December, I think) due to USADA whereabouts violation. But even prior to that, he skipped one or two of the US Nationals events for whatever reason. I think he could win 10+ national titles if he desired to.
@@PongGod I hope he addresses why he's been banned. I haven't heard any announcement about the details behind it.
Very unfortunate camera angle considering both players are lefties and are blocking the view of half the table most of the time.
Good thing most people want to watch the players and the ball more than watching the table.
@@LosAngelesTableTennis When the view of the table is obstructed, then view of the ball becomes obstructed as well. That camera angle is perfect for two right-handed players, but far less than ideal for left-handers.
@PongGod you are right. It is unfortunate, I do have the left hand angle as well but I just hated the barrier being in the shot.
The "CHULEEE" and "CHOLEEE"'s have gotten so much worse since I stopped playing table tennis in 2020. Anyone else agree they're getting a bit ridiculous?
If you ask me. I prefer our players to be more vocal. When there's a crowd, they always cheer more when the players are getting hyped.
@@LosAngelesTableTennis i agree they should be vocal, but at more critical moments. Not every single point like on a missed push. And maybe not screaming their lungs out. Like scream your lungs out at the big points, and then a small "come on" or "lets go" at the smaller ones. It borders on unsportsmanlike conduct in my opinion.
too much pressure for this Chinese, he's better too, funny eh
Is this the actual U.S. championships, as in the top player in the U.S.? I ask because I'm wondering why Kou Lei didn't make it to the finals, if he even showed up. He'd probably have no problem against Nikhil, and I know he'd make mince meat out of Jishan (they played in Westchester). I rooted for Jishan in this match. His BH was simply too weak against Nikhil. Nikhil played with fabulous control and placement, and certainly had tons of power. I noticed he developed a pattern against Jishan. He'd serve to his middle or FH, then rip Jishan's return to his extreme wide FH. Even if Jishan got it back, it would be weak, and Nikhil would just hit a home run. I may be Nikhil's new fan.
So this National Championships Event is open only to US Citizens. Kou Lei is still the highest rated player in the US, and the undisputed champion. Let's see how he does at the LA Open and the US Open.
I can beat Liang.
