    First time viewer of your channel. Lots of interesting information about Cyprus.
    What should my take home conclusion be about the Greek side of Cyprus?
    What about the Turkish side? Is Cyprus,in your opinion,a country worthwhile considering for retirement or a bit complex for that purpose?
    Thank you for the work you do.

      As a Cypriot i suggest you study the island more before you decide anything. There is no Turkish side or Greek side. There is only one Cyprus with 37% in the north of it being invaded and occupied. That part is still under a ceasefire.I hope one day that the island will be united and all Cypriots can live under one nation and identity and one country.

    Cyprus is not just the Greek Republic of Cyprus, the author completely ignores the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, I live. There are no illegal immigrants here, if someone stays after the visa expires and has the misfortune of being discovered, they are deported. Legal immigrants, mostly from the Middle East and Africa, are happy to work. The visa policy is strict, that bothers us, but on the other hand, we appreciate that we live in safety and nothing happens if we forget to lock the house or the car.

    Is Cyprus boring, maybe not during the summer?
    I spent 4 years swimming in the Mediterranean Sea every day, every week, rain or shine. In winter, I had to wear a wetsuit, but my hands would freeze after 20 to 25 minutes of swimming, and I would get a headache as it was freezing 🥶

    • @hypatiaacademyprogrammingt1344
      @hypatiaacademyprogrammingt1344  2 місяці тому +1

      It's good for retired people. But young people would find it boring. There's just not much here beyond sea and sun. But retirees my age play golf and tennis, and that is all we need. As for swimming, I have not seen it go below 16C. Today (March 4) it is 17.3 C. It's cold but I have never needed a wet suit. Only a cap as water that colds hurt my head. 15.5 is the point below which I don't go, because you can get hypothermia after 1 hour (That varies of course by the person.). But it's never gotten that cold here in the last 5 years.

      Thank you buddy! We will come to visit this year, I'm attracted by the fact that you don't pay capital gains tax in Cyprus, and I'm a trader, so that would be awesome. Besides, we are living in a Banana Republic ruled by the Socialist/Communist government of Spain. Let's see what my wife and my youngest kid think of Cyprus when we visit, I can adapt to any place, almost.
      Thanks again.

      @@p.c.h.6721 hi. Before I moved here i thought of moving to Spain and spent 6 months there. I speak Spanish fluently having lived in Chile 6 years and worked in Citibank there and a winery. As an "autonomo" self-employed digital the tax is 55%. I am retired now and tax on pensions here is 5%. Tax on investments in other country zero.

      Thank you, yes, unfortunately Spain is a tax inferno, no wonder so many people are leaving, the only people that stay in Spain are those that depend on the government and can't leave. We are leaving hopefully by next year (I have to sell my house first). We are considering Panama, Mexico, South of Italy with its flat tax rate of 7%, and Cyprus with no capital gains tax on foreign investments. I have a friend who moved from Germany to Larnaca, he is a trader like me. We hope to come to Cyprus at the end of October, from Cyprus we will go to the south of Italy. We just came back from Panama. At some point, maybe during Christmas, we will visit Mexico (considering Guadalajara, not far from Puerto Vallarta).
      Right now all options are open, but I like where Cyprus is located, close to Greece and Europe, not far from Dubai, very close to Turkey, and closer to Thailand than we are here in Spain (we love Thailand).
      Quick question: Can you get by in Cyprus if you only speak English and Spanish? I don't speak the Greek language, I don't know if that will be a problem, so I'd appreciate your opinion.
      Thanks in advance.

      Thanks for watching my video. I wrote some wine books in America and Chile. It’s not bad here. They dry farm, no irrigation, which you cannot do in California or Chile. Whites good and better than reds. Reds good but I don’t see them making any premium wines. That would take dropping some fruit and more aggressive pruning and greater attention to small details in the winery. Interesting you were hear when I was 7 years old. Keen to learn more about that pre-war history so I can write about it.

    FYI: Walker, since you mention ANCIENT in Cyprus -> you should know it was always inhabited by Greeks -> Minoan, Mycenaean, Hellenistic, Alexander, Diadochoi, Ptolemies (actually resided in Paphos !!) - Romans captured Greek Cyprus only in 58BC , later Venetians / Ottomans / Venetians ..... etc . Once again, I wonder whether 'westerners' intentionally try to disregard/cover-up thousands of years of Greek history ........ or if you just do this because of your own ignorance !? Which is it Walker ??
