One thing is for sure...Steve Vai totally owns Steve Vai music. Man can that guy play. Awesome performance he nailed it! I saw this tour in New Hampshire.
First time I bought this album in 1996 and this song is my fav, all the details and sound is always on my mind for years. And I finally see live version, and it so crazy amazing
That's amazing....So difficult to play even for Steve Vai who compose in 1985...So that's rare moment in the Passion and Warfare Anniversary Tour you can watch this.
Yeah, The Riddle is an extremly difficult song to play - even Steve Vai himself was only about 85% accurate playing it here. But I'm actually surprised he could even play it live to 85% accuracy - there's so many overdubs and reversed guitar parts in it, that trying to fit one melody part into them live is very hard to do without sounding out of place. He did well.
When a bloke suggests to me, through the medium of music at least, that we should make love - I usually make my excuses and leave. Yet there are exceptions to every rule , and this is a text book example of one such divergence. So, to underline the point, I might just make myself comfortable and see what else the night has in store for me. But in truth, I'm off shopping for sauerkraut and the devil's haemorrhoids. Vernacular for brussel sprouts. Where would Christmas dinner be without the latter? Thanx uploader, that made my day!
I wonder how he makes the low bass notes with a 6 strings for the licks at 1:35, 1:43, I would say he uses a whammy down but he doesnt seems to use a pedal at that moment.
A message from the young Vai to the present Vai : what happened with our 7 strings guitar man you wtf you do it ! Is only joke guys don’t takes personal but at the set time is strange , Vai have tons of 7 strings guitar and last year Tony Macalpine some stupid guys stolen his Ibanez rg 7 strings guitar and he have to ask a guitar is not fair!
It's awesome how well he can execute his songs so closely to the original recording! The guitar master
Yeahhh...And that's why he's my fav...He don't feel shy to express everything...but enjoy any second.
Hard to believe he hasn’t played this track on a tour before or after this. Amazing track and performance.
Came here for the guitar playing, stayed for the facial expressions
For me, this is his greatest piece! I wish he would make an official video.

Yeah it was nice watching him trying to play it true to the recording
That's actually the best live Vai I've heard in a long time. He was in tune and he didn't attempt to improvise! Very nice.
I think his improv is pretty good tbh, but he does sound really good here
This is the piece of music I would use to show someone who had never heard of Steve Vai what it is that he does that makes him special as a musician.
Ever since first hearing it, this has remained my all time favorite Vai song.
And on the 8th day god said "Let there be modes". And it was so.
One of Steve Vai's most beautiful songs
Greatest guitar player ever. Who else makes it look that good

One of his great songs
Amazing performance of one of my all time fav from Vai. Even today after so many years, it sounds so fresh and experimental.
This is the only man that can make me cry from how much soul he puts in I love him so much
4:30 *tears of joy started to flow*
This man is beyond anything I have ever seen preformed on guitar, I love him!
wow, the sound is so perfect with this camera man!!!
iPhone6s.. thanks ¡¡¡
A jaw dropping performance of one of my favorite songs from Steve Vai. Thank you 🤘🏼
I was just 11 years old when I went to that concert it was just amazing
The best song of Steve Vai!
Awesome performance of such a complex song. Hard to be pulled off any better. Wow
I love how at 1:07 he plays the melody from "Bledsoe Bluvd" and not the actual melody that was tracked for this song originally 🙂
omg an actual caught performance of this live
I really thought it was a one off he couldn't replicate ahaha
Steve Vai is amazing👍
This is so complex . And TRANSCENDENTAL that capture my soul for 30 YEARS every time i reard . And THEY get It Live perfectly
Well that was an absolute joy....

With liberty and Justice FOR ALL!
Ejecución perfecta. Maestrazo!
Great recording of one of my favorites in a country I love!

One of the more complex songs from passion and warfare, and he usually don’t play it live, great performance!!!!! You’re a genius Mr Vai….

Pure brilliance!
My life song perfect. ...
What an amazing song!!
Oh Frank... such a genius factory....
Takes you on a Zappa-esk journey… 🤘🏼
Steve and the breed played great in Paris too !!
obra maestra
This would be amazing if he could hire other musicians to play sitar and a choir to say The Pledge". Goosebumps bro.

he uses a pedal for the first one for sure
Maybe a pitch shifter
I wonder what his tuning was. I believe this was recorded on a 7 string.
think he tune standard and use whammy for that low part
He uses a certain pedal to grab those low notes .
And he execute without a 7 string guitar to play those low notes .
What effect Is this at minute 3:15???
Im going to say he dropped the E to a lower note, not a whammy pedal.
The original song was recorded with a 7 string, here uses the whammy pedal to emulate the string E down to B
The newer Whammy DT's allow for momentary octave drops like that. No way Vai doesn't have one in his backline by this point.
Who cares - the man can play like no other.
That one not he played that dulled out on the bend, made me think he needs to get flo's frets leveled or replaced lol
How many people know the intro before he starts playing is a speech from Louis Farrakhan? 🙄
im amazed he doesnt use a sustainer for this song
Tell me you write music while on drugs without telling me you write music while on drugs! LOL
Why The post is the Humor..?
Why not is this.

Is this played with the low E tuned to a B or something?
NO ONE plays like Steve Vai!!
Can’t tell you how excited I get when I find a favorite song live....then it turns out to be some shitty cell phone video... FUCK
Dude the audio isnt that bad tho!
his guitar faces are the same ones Lloyd on dumb and dumber makes....
Magnifico!
