I caught myself singing this song in my head at work today and I had to revisit this video. It's been 11 years since I've seen/heard this. Still Gold :)
Jesus, his performance is amazing. I love how he involves the audience, its brilliant. he is such an incredible performer. hard to get that kind right mix of emotion and pep into a performance but he nails it
The Original Bassist, Robert Sledge and Drummer, Darren Jessee left when Ben Folds Five dispanded after their Austrilia tour in 1999. Robert Sledge most recently was in a band called International Orange which recently dispanded and Darren Jessee is currently the lead singer of Hotel Lights where he also plays Guitar and Piano. Both of them have not done a live performence with Ben since the Five dispanded.
Anyone notice the rocking kid at 4:00? He looked like he is like 5 or 6..Ben stops and the audience does the line, then the music kicks back in and he's totally into it. He looks like he's head banging or something there..I love Ben, he's Awesome!
I loved Ben Folds Five, and I don't think it would be easy to recreate the chemistry between the band. From their vocal harmonies. their specialties in their instruments, or to their sense of humor, they are unique. Ben is obviously a great pianist, Robert was definitely a great bassist (apparent in their first album), and Darren's smooth seemingly jazz-trained drums all created what the band was.
does anyone know what effect pedal the bassist is using? iv got a boss overdrive pedal and its great but this is a different kind of overdrive and i think it sounds great. could also be the amp /shrug anyone know?
One day, I hope to be in a crowd shouting, "Lord, please spare me more rejection!" Could be a Ben Folds concert, could be anything else.
I was part of one last night when he played NYC.
It was so worth it.
Watched this live on myspace in 2006 in college. Watching it again Nov. of 2018.

"I thought about the ARMY, dad said, son you're fucking high."
Best opening line of a song ever! BF has so many great songs, a true original.
Haven’t watched this recording in years and it just popped into my head today. Definitely one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen.

Jesus, he can even play an audience. Where do you even find the sheet music for that kind of instrument?
Jesus, his performance is amazing. I love how he involves the audience, its brilliant. he is such an incredible performer. hard to get that kind right mix of emotion and pep into a performance but he nails it

It's an old school analog synth.
Hey speaking of that, has he been playing with the other two? Or alone. I'm seeing him at Purdue here in a bit, and was just curious.
