    Love the detail and using furniture pins to look like rivets, easy to do and so effective (thanks for the idea, will use on my next project) . Also until you said the canister was made of wood, it looked real to me.

    Yes, excellent work. Your skill and attention to detail make this visually spot on with the real seat. I saw you even had the battery inspection window on right hand of the seat. Brings back lots of memories from when I would sit in one of these back in the 80s, when I maintained the Pave Penny system (TISL). I maintained A-10As at Myrtle Beach AFB (354 CRS) and Nellis AFB (57 CRS) and OA-10s and A-10As at Suwon AB Korea (6151 CAMS).

Will be making compromises like you did for comfort. No fun to play when its uncomfy as hell :D GREAT JOB

    For the butt kicker, if you want more feeling but not right on your butt, on your frame mount 1"-2" stand off posts that a metal or playwood baord/plate bolts to. Mount the the kicker to that. Should put the vibrations right into the frame of your seat. The more taught the strapping, the more it might transfer that vibration. another thought on the side of the plate the butt kicker mounts is to aput a thin flat plat mount on a spring(s). So when you sit it gives way for comfort, yet your rear is in contact with butt kicker surface. Without weight applied to it, it would rattle like crazy though.

    Very Nice!!! I like the thought of the Ford Seat mechanism. How much "feel" did you lose when attaching the Butt Kicker to the bottom plate VS. the bottom of the seat? Would you recommend 2 butt kickers for the seat? 1 for the bottom and 1 for the back?

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  5 років тому

      Lost a lot of power moving it, but I have since relocated it to the side of the seat and it's much better now. I wouldn't run two buttkickers, I'd rather use the same money to buy a jetseat instead. I've heard good things about those...

    Sir, working on building a similar A10c pit with my son and we have run into an issue in DCS. We can't find the Arduino sketch to make our seat ejection handles work in DCS. We got the arming lever to work but DCS-Bios doesn't show a sketch for the ejection handles themselves. Would you mind sharing how you accomplished this? Thanks

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  4 роки тому +1

      I had the same issue! I didn't use DCS BIOS for the eject command, instead I used Helios to send a keypress matrix when the lever is pulled (ctl e 3 times).

    Really interested in that comment you made about the back cushion. You said it has a metal plate in it? I have an original bottom cushion from an F15 but not a back cushion.Are you able to expand on that a bit more mate? Or show us in a detailed video somehow? I know your super busy, but any insight would be great!
    I’m looking at replicating some sheepskin cushions. I’m going to make them out of genuine materials and use the correct dynamic memory foam material for the bottom cushion but make it .5 inch thicker to comfort my boney arse!!

    • @thewarthogproject
      @thewarthogproject  5 років тому +1

      The seat back cushion has what feels like two strips of really thin aluminium sewn into the back of it. It can be bent and retains its shape, so the cushion does as well and it conforms to shape of the seat back.

I left aviation several years back, lost my medical... and now build custom homes. It’s 2:42 am and ended work and am winding down about 2 hours ago. Back to work at 8 am later this morning........ I can afford to pay someone to build something like this but to date non I’ve found have the same level of detail until I hit the $30k price point and even then, I don’t think they have the same attention to detail.
