Thanks you for letting everyone know there is a clip opening to release the actuator from the harness. Just started pulling until I watched you video-thanks !!!

Great video, a couple of helpful hints having watched the video and successfully replaced the actuator on a 2004 Lexus LX470. On the door lock rods, it's easiest on the pink one to just pull it towards you and the rod will disconnect. Trying to pull on the rod is a non-starter. On the clear plastic connection rod, push it toward the door jam and it will come out, don't try pulling it like in the video or you'll be stuck. A fun project that takes a couple of hours. Best to watch the video in its entirety, then watch it while you're actually doing it. I did take pictures during the removal process, especially the one with the window guide and its relationship with the actuator which was very helpful when it came to re-installing. I'm about as non-mechanical as it gets, so if I can do it, pretty much anyone can.

Mine is 2004 too. Do you remember if the motor had the flat rod like in the video or the larger round rod? I’ve seen some videos that use a rounder rod

So I managed to break the tab on that lock sensor while struggling to get the front rod out.
    Any tips on a fix?

How did you remove that white plastic piece without breaking it? I was able to get the outer clip to release by firmly pulling. The inner one would not budge and it eventually cracked.

Hi, great video, what was the symptoms of the actuator because I changed my lock cylinders and since then the driver door is kind of lazy and doesn't lock 8 our 10 times the lock bottom needs to be pressed multiple times.

this might help, we notice our lexus/aisin actuators starts to make "free-spin" noises or work intermittently before they fail completely.

What year is your land cruiser? Just bought the actuators with the Brass collars because I read about more people using those on ih8mud. I have a 99 land cruiser and wanted to see if I needed to order the ones you have without the brass collar. Thanks for the video btw, very thorough.

Kevin Van Hecke our truck is a 2006. I read the same thread and bought the same brass ones only to find out I needed the ones I am showing in the video after they were open. Good luck!

@@hotsauceproductions7512 Okay, Maybe the 1998-2002 trucks use the brass ones before the redesign? Ill try and remember to reply in this thread when I open my locks up and find out myself. I know the brass collar is needed or not needed based on year but couldnt for the life of me find what years they go to.

@@PocketsMcCloud I have a 2000 LX470 and was curious to hear what you found to be the correct motor.

What a royal pain in the a$$. I disassembled everything on my 2001 LX470, took apart the actuator housing, and discovered that my motor is different from the one that everyone else seems to have and that I ordered based on those recommendations. The motor in my LX470 has a larger diameter spindle combined with a brass collar that fits over the spindle and it is that brass collar that engages with the worm gear. Because it's a larger diameter spindle the collar won't fit on the spindle for the new motor. It's too loose. So I'll have to search for a different motor or hopefully a motor with the worm gear already attached.

98-02 based on "pre-facelift" 100 series and probably used slightly different parts or revisions for some components from our 2006 "facelift". This was the fate of other lexus vehicles of the period as well (ie: IS300)
