This episode and next episode will make even clearer the character foils that Hawks and Dabi are being centered around Endeavor, with each representing the positive and negative influence of him. Hawks, who has a father as a villain, influenced by Endeavor to be a hero. Dabi, who has a father as a hero, influenced by Endeavor as that father to be a villain. 2 sides of the same coin.
This arc solidified Rei as one of my fav characters, literally so hyped seeing her confront Enji with their children witnessing it. When push comes to shove, the real heroes stick it out. Mt Lady, who people saw as a narcissist, took a beating just to slow down Gigantamachia. Musha runs away afterwards.
Endeavor: I feel so awful. So terrible. This anguish is eating me up. I can't take it. Rei: Imagine how tired we are. Imagine how tired we are of it Little fun fact, there was a very hilarious panel that was unfortunately cut from the anime. When Hawks was talking about the Nomu being a problem, the panel was all of the Nomu we'd seen so far pointing at themselves asking, "Me?" Very tragic that it didn't make it into the anime. On a serious note, Hawks was someone who worshipped Endeavor. Who flew too fast and too close towards the sun. It's only fitting that the son is also the one that burned him his wings. He truly is like Icarus. Now the entire family is together. Ready to talk about how everything went wrong. And how Toya became who he is today.
The whole Todoroki family stuff is probably my favourite part of MHA (followed by the world’s society, which I feel like is pretty realistic, for better or for worse), I love pretty much every member of it and Endeavour has one of the best redemption stories I’ve seen. Him and Shigaraki are my favourite characters in this series, and I’d probably have an easier time choosing a favourite child than to pick which of those two I prefer Edit: Also Gabe is definitely Rico
Also, another thing for Gabe, remember that Stain's thing isn't taking out villains. He only does that if they happen to be in his way. His big thing is punishing false heroes. If he goes after anyone it would be more heroes.
Yes, after Tarterus fell, 7 other prisons were attacked, with 6 of them resulting in a large number of prisoners escaping. That's what they said last episode.
I saw a screenshot before I could see the episode and saw Endeavor crying. All I was hoping was it was related to Endeavor seeing Rei after all this time and what happened. Her, "And what about your heart?" nearly broke me.
In previous seasons, it was established that Endeavor does care and love Rei even though it was a quirk marriage through the blue flower she's carrying here. On their first date, she mentioned she love Rindou, the blue flower. He never forgot about it and constantly sends her those flowers through the years while she stayed in the mental facility. The meaning of Rindou in flower language is victory, accuracy, justice, loving someone who is full of sorrow, lonely love, and chastity. So in a way, it fits if you were to look at their relationship through the Rindou's flower language. :)
I had to keep from raging in the comments when Yoroi Musha showed up in the earlier episodes “looking cool” during the battle at the mansion, because I KNEW this moment was coming. I was all “DON’T GIVE THIS FRAUD ANY SHINE! EFF HIM!” Maybe they’ll add it in the English dub, but in the manga, Yoroi was drawn saying “All I wanted was to be praised.” Stain should’ve cut him down right then & there with his own sword. A fricking SENTIENT WASHING MACHINE is more heroic than that washed-up old man! I was HEATED when I read his “retirement” and I got mad all over again watching it.
While it is pretty slimy of him stepping down rn, specially while he's in the top 10, he do be pretty old. He has the right to retire, and while this does show that he didn't really have the best intentions with being a hero (wanted the praise and all that) he still did a lot of work (you don't just accidentally enter the top 10, you gotta do a bunch of rescuing) and to be fair, all of these heroes are people too, people that get overwhelmed with what it's happening. This situation while terrible is great to show who's really being a hero to do good and not just for the fame and glory, it's understandable if not everyone is the bravest hero ever, willing to lay down their lives for others. But we kinda need that type of hero rn since everything is going to shit
@@joaoparente1717 In the manga, Yoroi Musha stated that he stayed as a Hero because he wanted the adoration. Since he was getting more of the public’s anger instead of adoration, it wasn’t worth it for him anymore. Retiring because “Old/end of career” is one thing; Yoroi quit because no one was praising him anymore, and that was his sole motivation as a Hero. I can’t respect that at all. I “get” that it’s hard (at this point in the story) to deal with the public’s perceptions and anger about the entire debacle - and let’s be honest, things are screwed up to the Nth degree right now! I blame the government, and specifically the Hero Public Safety Commission, for setting up Hero Society to the point that it was more of a government-funded celebrity/publicity draw than a true selfless public service type of career. I’ll give Musha a millimeter of credit - in an anime-only scene, we do see him swinging his sword during the villa raid at ReDestro’s headquarters, so he was doing SOMETHING. But after the defeat/stalemate of that battle, we don’t see him doing anything else (neither in the Manga or the Anime). In a situation where it should still be all hands on deck to help the public in this situation, he decides to turn tail and run. Yoroi Musha basically betrayed the “rating” he received as the #9 Hero in Japan, further decimated the public’s trust, and made it harder for the remaining Heroes still fighting the good fight. But to your point, even the Heroes remaining in their ranks (who aren’t injured beyond repair or dead) need SOME sort of validation and consideration from the public for their current efforts, even though the ones remaining aren’t doing it for attention or fame. The expectation of perfection that All Might set during his time was unsustainable, even for him. And the way the Hero Public Safety Commission set up the system to support that type of expectation created the attitude of entitlement and taking Heroes for granted in that society. And that needs to change, as well. (I can’t go into specifics of what the HPSC did/has done without going into spoilers for upcoming episodes.)

Though it definitely helps that Endeavor is my favourite character and Hawks is up there too. Anyway, great video as always guys, will be here next week as well.
This is the episode where it truly sets in. People have almost entirely given up on heroes. Understandably so. I will bring up 2 simple nitpicks. 1 is the title of the episode. This was a Hawks episode. No two ways about it. But it’s named after the Todoroki Family. The 2nd is ONE line change. Best Jeanist when discussing Hawk’s mother actually says “That’s rough buddy.” STRAIGHT out of Avatar the Last Airbender. But I’ll live with “Fiber on!” As suitable mocking the fantastic four. These are BARELY nitpicks but ones I felt were noticeable enough to bring up. Normally I don’t just to be positively analyzing. So let’s start the proper analysis. Hawk’s family MIGHT just surpass that of the Shimura family and the Todoroki family in dysfunction. My god, I’ve never seen such active verbal abuse. “Why were you born.” Dear god I just can’t. Not with the kids. The father is one thing as an ACTUAL villain, but the mom is just BROKEN. She’s like a husk. For Hawk’s main inspiration being because Endeavor ARRESTED HIS DAD. These weren’t even people. They were icons until one actually SOLVED a direct problem of his. And the irony of Endeavor inadvertently solving daddy issues by removing the dad from the situation. XD that is just perfect. Tomie Takami’s quirk is the floating eyes she can control at will. So that’s where Hawk’s feather control comes from. Don’t know about the dad though. But now we get into the broken society. Without trained professionals that specialize in preventing casualties all hell just breaks loose. Everyone just falls apart thinking they have to solve the problems because heroes can’t. Retirement after retirement now that the acting part of this job is so thoroughly destroyed. It’s not the same job it was. And I think people are too rough on #9. That was a man I actually believe was going to retire after the war mission as is. He LOOKS like it’s time to retire. But now that this has all occurred he is being scorned. But now that Wash has ACTUALLY BEEN FORCED TO TALK because of the horrendous mess of the situation, I don’t think these show off heroes were going to make it. This is what Stain has been telling people for SO long. His actions were awful and carried out wrong, but his analysis of the title hero was right. So many were JUST there for the glory. And while his murdering was too far, he DID prove the heroes were being lax when he made them wary. But he did this in such a fashion that the public would NOT be hurt. So that’s why it’s so up in the air what side he will be for here. He’s a GIGANTIC wild card that just…puts lots of lives at stake. He was in Tartarus for a reason. And then there’s the pressure practically all being put on Endeavor. (But also All-Might. Which is why AFO didn’t kill him in season 3. Once AFO was conscious again after the United States of Smash, All-Might was wide open and AFO could have escaped before being escorted to Tartarus. But he didn’t. And by forcing the retirement, the public now sees All-Might as NOT there. Which is HORRIFIC.) Meanwhile Endeavor has to deal with the pressure DIRECTLY. And he’s thinking his hero time is up. Not even for the public not liking him. That was fragile affection as is. He just CAN’T fight Touya. He can’t bring himself to fight in a way that could endanger his family. He’s already done SO MUCH. And it breaks him. But there’s actual REPRESSED MEMORIES involved with Touya. And it’s so much that REI has taken it upon herself to support him. Bringing in the very flower he always did to tell her he was thinking of her. Natsuo, Fuyumi, SHOOOOOOTTTOOOOOO, ALL OF THEM. This has been a long time coming. An in-depth conversation of their family. And let’s just get this outta the way now. She’s here to settle the family drama. But the fact this woman STILL goes by the name Rei Todoroki, and ALL OF THEM still have his name. That is just the ultimate test for their family. They are STILL family no matter how strained they are. This episode was DARK. Messed up. And I am REALLY admiring Jiro’s family and Uraraka’s family right about now. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE to have such purely loving families with true unconditional love to the depths of EVERYTHING when we have to so FREQUENTLY study family NIGHTMARES. I'm interested to see the Todoroki family therapy session next season. Rei must be really recovering if she can be in the same room as Endeavor. With all the hate for heroes going around I understand why the op has Emo Deku
In the case of Yoroi Musha's retirement, I recommend you guys to look up that part in the manga bcs there was his additional dialogue that made him even worse as a hero.
What I got here is that the Commission basically used Hawks the same way All for One uses Shigaraki, just on the other side of the war. It's pretty horrible.
When Hawks was watching TV when he was younger and saw Endeavor and All Might, it looked the exact same place in that filler episode for season 4 episode 1 that industrial place!
Endeavor and All Might talking would probably not be good at least right now. All Might never really had to deal with what Endeavor did. Also All Might has to be there for his actual "son" right now. I'm not sure where Inko is, but someone should be there with Deku. Anyway, Endeavor has to now deal with the difficult side of being #1. Being #1 isn't just about being the best, it means that you are now the face of heroes. Even if Dabi hadn't dragged his name in the mud, being #1, every failure would have still landed on him. All Might got a little of that. Of people asking where he was if he wasn't there right away, but now Endeavor has to deal with it, on an even bigger scale and with now the personal baggage that he brought into the situation with him.
We’re continuing the Aftermath and the Crumbling of the Hero Society, with some Hawks Backstory and then with yet another update on the current status quo, Next, it seems like we’ll get some more context to the Todoroki Story, it will be very interesting to see how they handle it.
Thinking about UA and the kids, I'm not sure if they would be in all that much danger. The reason they kept targeting them usually had to do with All Might and his being at the school and his connection with AfO and Shiggy. I think at this point, if AfO was going to target anyone it would be Deku and All Might himself. I don't think they really care about the other students. I don't think we're really going to have the "forfifying" UA or something like that. At least right now.
For Gabe who keeps asking where the Japanese military is, the Japanese self-defense force is not like the American military, it doesn't operate the same way and it can't be sent out the same way either. RIght now there are still police and heroes in play, any military presence would be extremely last straw stuff.
No hate towards Endeavor... But he's right here though. If I was a super flawed, abusive parent whose actions caused harm to their partner and children, even I couldn't fight back my own villainous child. I shouldn't give them lectures about being righteous when I'm super flawed myself. Also that's his own son he f***ed up because of bad parenting. There's no way he's fighting him as if he's a random villain.
I think it was shindo who randomly got into the top 10 popularity poll in Japan cause a hardcore fan or multiple hardcore fans ended up somehow spamming his numbers up. May not be true but he was definitely in a top 10 even though he is super irrelevant lol
9:50 actually the guy was already planning on retiring by this time in the first place so it was just terrible timing 😅 everyone watching thinks he's just abandoning them cuz things have gotten tough but he was already gonna retire so it was just the worst timing imaginable

9:48
NOOOOOOOOOOO, I HAD BIG EXPECTATIONS FOR HIM, HE HAD A COOL DESIGN 😭
*FYI:* Hawks backstory partially inspired by soccer player Lionel Messi.
Really????!!!! That's sick.
@Ebrima Jallow Yeah, I was trying to share link on here but it won't work. You can Google it though.
I'm interested to see the Todoroki family therapy session next season. Rei must be really recovering if she can be in the same room as Endeavor. With all the hate for heroes going around I understand why the op has Emo Deku
I meant episode but that works too lol
We never got to see Number 9’s Quirk.
In the case of Yoroi Musha's retirement, I recommend you guys to look up that part in the manga bcs there was his additional dialogue that made him even worse as a hero.
I guess he was just too old and decided this was the best time to retire
We’re continuing the Aftermath and the Crumbling of the Hero Society, with some Hawks Backstory and then with yet another update on the current status quo,
Next, it seems like we’ll get some more context to the Todoroki Story, it will be very interesting to see how they handle it.
Interesting.
Moral of the lesson, freshmen children and Native are better than Yoroi Mushit
Damn right
Lets goooo, Keeping Up with the Todoroki's continues!
that herculese joke 😂 im gonna make a comic of that now!
I feel bad for enji aka endeavor, he's trying to change his heart
Great discussion as always.
Expect to see more Hero Retirements.
1:33 hahahahaha, we all know who Gabe is xD
No hate towards Endeavor... But he's right here though. If I was a super flawed, abusive parent whose actions caused harm to their partner and children, even I couldn't fight back my own villainous child. I shouldn't give them lectures about being righteous when I'm super flawed myself. Also that's his own son he f***ed up because of bad parenting. There's no way he's fighting him as if he's a random villain.
If Gabe is Rico is Leah Private
That is the only logical conclusion
I think it was shindo who randomly got into the top 10 popularity poll in Japan cause a hardcore fan or multiple hardcore fans ended up somehow spamming his numbers up. May not be true but he was definitely in a top 10 even though he is super irrelevant lol
9:50 actually the guy was already planning on retiring by this time in the first place so it was just terrible timing 😅 everyone watching thinks he's just abandoning them cuz things have gotten tough but he was already gonna retire so it was just the worst timing imaginable
You know what you do it that case? Change your timing. Maybe make the announcement to retire, I don't know...2 months later, perhaps when some of this stuff has died down?
@@IreneShardaForever Lol I'm just pointing out the facts of what happened in the manga for this scene that the anime left out
@@gantashiro978 Doesn't really matter, wer all know the truth: Native wouldn't have retired. Native would have kept going. Native is the better hero.
MY HERO
SACADEMIA6
It's actually supposed to be a G. SACADEMIAG
I feel bad for hawks
12:05 lmao
Huh, the Title says Reaction, but the Thumbnail says Discussion, why?
Yeah trying to make a old guy fight someone who can destroyed large islands
To be fair, Gran Torino was fighting as an old guy. lol
@@raec5426 Gran Torino isn't running around just waving a sword.
@WillFanofMany II Well tbh we haven't seen Musha in action to know the full extent of his capabilities.
@@raec5426 He was described as being beyond a sword expert by Hori.
@WillFanofMany II Curious to what that actually looked like.
