23/May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.24/The one who calls you is faithful ,and he will do it. 1Thessalonians.5:23-24 .
1 Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship (or communion) of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” A calling that cannot be revoked or rescinded because it is irrevocable. Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
This is great news, but the Bible is full of buts. Is that because people were still wrestling with who God was as revealed by Jesus. Ex: death of an Annanius and saphira- causing great fear amongst believers. So this really boils down to how we interpret/read scripture.
The incident of Ananias and Sapphira is not merely an lie. It is unbelief. But they pretend to believe. They sold the piece of property out of compulsion not out of conviction. The money they kept back will give an option to go back to the Jewish religion (they need money to offer sacrifice). This kind of mindset will affect the community of believers. What happened is good for them as they need not struggle with doubt and anxiety. It is also good for the early Christian community. Our prayers must be 'Lord I believe. Help my unbelief'.
@@owenimmanuel7172 yes, if God is good then this was an act of mercy. We think death is a punishment, but if our next life is so wonderful, it really is an escape. However, if this way of thinking is correct ,one would think Peter would have addressed the people’s fear. I guess they needed to be afraid to preserve the gospel. Satan was attacking the truth from day 1. This story and also the unforgivable sin will always perplex me.
