    YEPWELP! Thank you so much for taking a small part of your day to enjoy it with me and one of my crazy ideas! I hope you enjoy the video of my DIY/Homemade automatic gold prospecting vibrating tumbler. I really wanted something cheap, easy and lightweight to use while I was on my gold prospecting Colorado adventures. I was very happy with the results and can not wait to take it out and get it dirty in a field test! I hope this DIY gold prospecting equipment was as interesting to you as it was to me as I wont be leaving home without my DIY vibration tumbler!
    If you have any questions, comments or wanted any additional information on how to build your own. Please leave a comment below!
    Please subscribe to make sure you don't miss out on any Colorado gold mining adventures or checking out the automatic classifier in action!

      Really cool vid! Fun to watch...easy question: Did you remove some of the fan blades to make it out of balance? TYIA

    • @yepwelp9163
      @yepwelp9163  5 років тому +2

      @@surveyoresq - Thank you so much, I am glad you were able to find the video and enjoyed it. Yes, the fan had 4 blades to it originally. I removed 3 of them figuring it would give the most off-balance affect, also with only 1 blade left the fan is light as possible. So hopefully the fan can last as long as possible, as I know fans and other rotating objects can wear out over time when off-balance. Your welcome, thanks again!

    Why not add a 5-600 gph bilge pump and set the nugget trap directly under the classifier?.....that would eliminate handling the material twice....
    You could also reduce the overall size by breaking off the other fan blade and put a bolt or two on one side of the blade hub for the offset weight....that would allow you to attach the motor closer to the classifier and do away with the radiator frame and reducing the size....
    Damned clever idea you have there YepWelp.....well done!

      Hi Toby, so sorry for the delayed response. I can totally agree with you about the rocks and I did pick them all up out of the yard when I was finished. Not only does it not look good in the yard that would be a menace to step on or mow over! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment on the video.

      @@yepwelp9163 Hi Tim. I have made one of your classifiers. I spent a little bit more on mine than you did. I found a fan which had about 12 blades on it. I used some metal standoffs instead of wood. I attached a small piece of 1/8th inch lead to one of the blades to make it unbalanced. It sure is unbalanced. It is so unbalanced that it jumped off the table I had it setting on. I used a battery sub box I bought from WalMart fo another project. It works good but I need to purchase a 6 volt battery for it. At 12 volts it shakes too much. I have a DC power supply that a friend made for me. It can put out in excess of 10 amps. The fan works better on 6 volts. I was going to send you a couple of pictures but it does not look like I can send them via You Tube. Thanks

    Would it vibrate better with a weight on single fan blade? Better classifying?

    • @yepwelp9163
      @yepwelp9163  5 років тому +4

      Yes, by applying additional weight the the one remaining fan blade would off-balance it more causing additional vibration to be caused. The only thing I would worry about is having it off-balance too much and cause damage to the fan or fan housing if it was possible "too much" off-balance. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment!

      It'd vibrate better using a motor 1/10th the size with a cam on the end that bumps the shaker table. Like is used in, well, you know, EVERY shaker table since the invention of them.

    Nice work!
    A autofeed and varible selected mesh screen panel that dumps waste to one side might automate the process. One 5 gal bucket at a time. Similar to dry washer or bank setup.

    Now you got your fan on your backpack its lift off to your desired destination,,well done i like that set up very innovative get that patented infinity prospecting loves innovative people you'll get a lot of support from Tyler,,you should run this along also to Jason at FGW,,he loves thease innovative designes,,
    Whilst watching the video on how this designs works i noticed something about the vibration,
    Just a thought to get that innovation rolling even more,,i think your on the verg of finding how also to separate gold from black magnetic sands as you no gold isn't a magnatized metal,,but just imagine having a magnet floor on your paning dish,some where underneath the pan,,now if the springs where lower one side bit of tilt this would creat a tilt for the pan on one side,,this means the gold would pan away from the magnetics just as if you where paning,of course you'll need to tweet vibration to get it right,
    You then got a gold clasifier separator plus classifier,plus parts cleaner all in one,and you might save your mother a wash load of dirty clothing,
    Owe by the way if you had another bucket you wouldn't have to throw the stones on your mother and fathers lovely green lawn,,
    They would kill you if you fowle up the ride on lawnmower blades,
    That backpack?
    See a seamstress and get the backpack widened out by two to three inches save you struggling,
    I use a bike trailer for all my kit and i have an electric mountain bike i hate having 30lbs on my back,,the days enough and long and you need your back for filling pails whilst i recognize your a young man,,your going to cause spinal issues with backpack excess weight over time,,hay that innovation is so darn cool,well done.❤From Ireland well done.

    I have the parts I've been collecting for a motorized classifier behind where I'm sitting right now.
    This video has been a very timely discovery.
    But take it one step further and attach a vibrator (Miniaturize what you already have as well) to your sluice box with a Rheostat after a toggle switch in line. Much as a tumbler.
    You will find you can reduce water flow to a trickle just to take advantage of specific gravity (Gold being three times the gravity of both Magnetite and Hematite) and balance vibration to black sands migrating down sluice box while gold stays put.
    I've installed magnet sheets (Fortified with round magnets in pattern to increase pull above box so sand "isn't captured" but magnetite weight reduced to nearly zero.
    Try putting washer on digital scale and lower a magnet above it very slowly to test concept. You will see recorded weight of washer reduced to almost zero long before washer is captured. You can do the same thing with magnets and magnetite so trickle of water washes them away continually, (and none ever touch magnet) as they weigh little more than cotton balls
    Magnet sheets must extend down full length well above box.

    • @yepwelp9163
      @yepwelp9163  5 років тому +4

      Thank you for checking out the video and leaving a comment. I am sorry you did not find the auto classifier to be useful. I have seen sluice boxes with the punch plates or grizzly bars to allow you to load straight into the sluice. I have seen that process before and that is definitely one way to prospect. I personally don't have a sluice box currently but hope to have one in the near future. So with the Nugget bucket or Gold Cube classifying can be required. I don't think I would feel comfortable loading larger cobble/rocks into an aluminum sluice box with the possibility of damage it. Also I would be nervous to lose any of the very fine flour gold -50 micron and below I mostly have available to prospect. Sometimes I also run into some real dense clay in the rivers/streams in Colorado, I personally feel this type of material really traps the gold and classifying can help in the recovery when dealing with these situations in my experiences. I hope you are able to find some enjoyment or entertainment in any future videos of mine you might encounter. Thanks again for stopping by!

    Hello from British Columbia, Canada.
    Thanks for sharing your idea. I love DYI. I'll check out your channel to see how well things worked in the field. Also, I want to see your upgrades.
    I think that I'm going to pass up on this, because I want to try to my friend's idea, which he showed me in the last few days. He manages to pan almost a full pan in about 1.5 minutes, with no classification. His technique manages to bust up the clay at the beginning, and then get rid of the clay and silt next. The pebbles and most of the rocks pour out easily after that. I don't know how well it gathers dust, though.

    Great another dust bunny collecting prospecting gizmo. Sure it works, and it's cheap enough to make. But at what point will it just be sitting with all the other prospecting gizmos that where a good idea at the time. Either way your still stuck with the bucket and classifier that you started out with, plus an additional 20 pounds of hardware, instead of 20 pounds of survival supplies. In the real prospecting world every pound you don't have to carry with you matters. A shovel, a gold pan, a classifier, and maybe a bucket, maybe. Forty years of prospecting has taught me that 99% of the time inventions like this, how ever ingenious, are useless and cumbersome. Mostly because of the terrain we're working in dictates what equipment we bring with us.
    Don't get me wrong, I like the simplicity of the design.

    From someone who has built numerous shaker feed decks, your method of achieving vibration is highly dangerous and not very practical. Why not chuck a 12v enclosed vibration motor or even a 110v one and run with a small generator. Much safer method and you can pick one up off Amazon for $60
