  • After an injury ended Hollie Davidson's dreams of playing rugby for Scotland, she decided to make the bold step to pick up a whistle and start refereeing.
Hollie joined Ashleigh Wilmot and gladiator Jodie Ounsley in series one of Stronger Than You Think to discuss why she made this decision, how much she enjoys refereeing finals, going to the Rugby World Cup and how she deals with the abuse that officials get.

The call from tmo High shot, and hollie didn't feel pressured to agree with the tmo , but instead choosing to make her own decision. The ref is in charge, Tmo are just extra help, ref makes final decision. You could tell the tmo wasn't happy, but tough shiiit.

I've seen Hollie officiating in many games by now and my honest comment is that when she's out there I always know that fairness will be the operative word. She's a true professional and a massive boon to the game we all love so much. We all know about the wonderful "ethos" of rugby and I wish to assure Hollie that 99% of true rugby fans who subscribe to that ethos appreciate her very much and hold her in the highest regard as a referee. Cheers from the land of the Springboks chaps! 🇿🇦

Well done to all. A great insight into a pivotal role in our game. I hope Hollie continues to enjoy her time managing the sport, and may there be many more delightful moments for her, as a reward for her services.

I just discovered your podcast and I chose to watch it because you were interviewing an official rather than a player. I thought, ‘how refreshing!’ I’ve often pondered the fact of how fit you have to be as a ref, and I’ve really been in awe of all women referees. You gave a great interview and I I love your title ❤️🇨🇦

All these prestigious matches she gets also means Scotland don't reach important finals.

I'm South African.I think she is pretty decent. There is a SA female ref who is also pretty decent......can't recall her name.
There have been plenty of shocking male refs so I dont understand the fuss if woman ref and are good at it.

Why are rugby "fans" bullying referees? This isn't soccer!

I don't think anyone blamed Hollie for the red card in the RWC final. It was the right decision, even though it sucked for England.

Having these Oprah type shows does nothing for women's rugby. Whoever runs World Rugbys social media needs to be fired immediately as they do a horrible job at promoting our game.

@@lost_boy Fair enough. Most rugby guys would disagree. Guess this show isn't for us.

@@benprideauxselby Fair enough. I'm sure you're a rugby guy too. I love women's rugby. I just don't thinks this helps their cause is all. Each to their own I guess.
