This is an absolutely fuckin' brilliant piece of gear. Thank you so much! I'm just now trying to accumulate studio gear and was looking into 500 series stuff and looking at different adat converters. This thing really is a game changer. Jesus, you guys completely nailed it.
I’ve got a question. Let’s say all of my channels inputs are filled with modules (compressor, reverb, preamp etc) on every channels. Let’s say I have a synth that is connected on my 6th channel and I want this synth to go through compressor on channel 3. Can I routed from Cubase ? Thank you
Loving these 'off the beaten track' videos, there is just so much to learn. Thank you Andertons, Jack et al for allowing this channel to be so much more than just a keyboard one.
This video was a long time coming. You guys should make a video doing a small session live with musicians using the Universal Audio gear and your rack unit with details of the recording process and detailing the functions of the Cranbourne gear hooked up to Universal Audio? Great Idea?
I'm just getting into the 500 series market and of course have come across Cranborne quite a bit. I've been wpndering why anyone would pay the extra cost for a Cranborne chassis over the others on the market, but this video helped clarify where that extra $ is going. I think you guys might have changed my mind, I'm looking forward to getting this into my setup!
I've been wanting to get into rack gear and this helped me understand how I can incorporate it to my home studio and cleared some of my hesitance (especially the last bit about being able to record the dry signal + the post effect). I'd love it if you did more of these!
Man, this machine is a gearhead's blessing and curse. The GAS (iykyk) enabling going on here is so potent, my bank account is quivering. I can feel my wallet trying to hide deeper into my pocket. So much versatility, it hurts.
This is something I have just discovered. Blown my mind the functionality and design Cranborne audio have put into these products. I've been worrying about what to get once my Allen and Heath zed16 is no longer able to work with my DAW. This is now sorted. In fact, I need to start moving towards this setup asap. Great vid BTW. I was looking for info on the CAST thing and this explains it totally. Which also blew my mind as the setup I have for tracking guitar in separate area of studio (garage!) Is ridiculously complicated 😂 love it. Thanks 👍
Excellent actıally the best demo on these series of products, I wish there can /will be an integration demo with Apollo and LUNA, step by step, explanation as this is a gem a next step for all Apollo X and LUNA users.
This is the best product of the decade in pro audio. The CAT6/7 features alone could save over $10k in a multiple room studio. I bought one instantly. 🤘
I bought the Adat 500 wonderful really and now I’m looking for the R8, their own usb card with s500. Tired of plugins and all the problems every year. Go back to analog if you can, and record it on digital. The best way.
What is this singing style called - who is it modelled after? It is so prevalent and has been for about 10 years now - especially with female vocalists. Who started this?
Hello. Can I use the 500R8 only as adat? I mean, without using de interface or connecting the usb cable. I want to expand my apollo twin interface and still using it as the brain, but also i want the flexibility of the 500r8 because i can take it everywhere without using another interface. ty
Probably the best & most informative video on the Cranborne product line I've seen yet. Was already considering the ADAT expander chassis for my studio without even grasping all of it's possibilities.. Will definitely be snagging one now
I’ve used some 500 modules for a few years now. Mine definitely do add a pleasant sound to tracks and songs. That said, it does take extra effort and I don’t think analog necessarily means better. My advise to anyone taking the plunge is to buy modules in pairs (eg 2 of the same eq modules) for running stereo.
18:40 the answer to my question: "Can you record through every channel even if you don't have a 500 module in every channel?" "Yes, yes you can (at line level)" AMAZING. THANK YOU. And maybe I missed it, but I assume you can also sum 8-channels even without the 500 modules in each slot eh? Also, can we use the module direct outputs to re-amp audio that's already in your DAW?
Wow these guys thought of it all, I definitely appreciate their minds!!! I just started looking into 500 series but after seeing this video on these lunchboxes Oooo Myyyy GOD I have to have one. This solved a lot of the issues I knew I was going to come into contact with creating a 500 series based studio!!!! Thank you guys for the information and thank you to the inventors Cranborne!!!
This thing is mind bending...it's like, an analog DAW. I'll be buying a pair of them. Fairly sure of that now. Thank you for the fantastic presentation.
This is a fascinating tool! Thanks for doing a deep dive on all the functions, I was looking at this for my first go at a 500 series rack and this answered so many questions
Im a lucky owner of Cranborne Audio 500R8, Camden & N22H and man....the quality of their stuff 🔥🔥🔥 Just try CA once you have a chance and I guarantee you will be wowed. Is it expensive?? Hell no! Im actually surprised how cheap it is comparing to some other brands (sometimes not even as good quality wise as CA) - so grab the bargain once you still can 👌 Just try it... 🎁Btw awesome video 👍
Ohh I agree! I took the risk and bought the 500 R8. Before, I had the Dangerous D-Box and an Antelope Orion 32 converter. It was a brilliant sounding setup, but unfortunately the drivers were never updated in time. When I received my 500 R8, I could not believe how big it sounded. I got the functionality and big sound into one 4U rackspace. Just my opinion, I think the 500R8 sounds a bit better than the D-Box. The configuration possibilities are endless. And ZERO latency 👌🏾. Absolutely no regrets updating my studio with the 500R8 as the centerpiece.
Great vid. I have recently decided to set-up a mobile recording rig business.I managed to track down an R8 Usb from Belgium - serious shortage of this unit everywhere in UK - and I'm super excited to get using it shortly.... 500 series modules ready to load (Kush, Eylisia, Pope Audio). Quick question regarding the N22H - I want to use 19inch rack pre-amps (DMA 73's x8) then into my R8 500 series EQs then to laptop. I'm wondering how to integrate the N22Hs into my set-up. Do the N22H audio inputs act as a pre-amp? or how would the signal flow look? Many thanks. You guys seem to be on to something very game changing here... Cheers Russell
I absolutely love that 500r8…. I’ve been dying to get one for awhile now, all in one and everything you ask for! Really like seeing more videos about cranborne! ❤️
You're right. Snake Oil at its best. Super crappy quality. I don't know if it has something to do with British people being drunk so often, but it kinda reflects in their production quality.
I've wanted the 500ADAT for so long and it's finally happening. This is one of the best videos out there for explaining how it works. We need one with detailed explanation with UA Console setup.
Can you sum through the line mixer without any modules loaded? Otherwise I feel like it's only useful if you have 4 stereo modules, since you'll typically be treating stereo stems. This would be extremely valuable to do either.
When Mackie mixers first came out they would ship a diagram with the different options on how to hook the mixer up for live and in studio work spaces. Maybe Cranbourne should do the same?
Hey there! We do have a range of diagrams in our manuals that cover a few applications. Always working on more of course, but they might be able to help! Otherwise, feel free to send us an email and Elliott can walk you through any applications you may have in mind! 👍
You don't need an UAD interface and all these. Just use an Antelope Orion 32+ and then you can add many more outboard units and have more control. It's a matter of budget of course.
I would argue if the ADAT format into cranborne 500 would make much sonical difference vs. converters from your audio interface going straight into 500 units. Its the # of round trips DA to AD that degrades the audio quality at the end of the day. With that being said, adat saves you the money spent on audio cables but the conversion that happens inside of cranborne unit is pretty much the same as it does happen in Apollo X. Try to make multiple conversion cycles trough Cranborne and I bet you your audio will degrade just like it would trough your Apollo unit.
One thing they failed to mentioned is that the chain only works mono to mono and not stereo to stereo. So if you are intending on using it as a mastering stereo chain it will NOT WORK…
Is it possible to combine the interface version with my Apollo solo via apple Audio-midi-setup like I can do it with other interfaces? So I don’t need a Apollo x4 or rack version?
Question. Doesn’t cat 5 bottle neck the signal. I have heard this using ear monitor systems with cat 5 I have heard guys switching back to trs cables because of that issue. Basically loosing headroom.
Hi there! Well that may be true with some systems, but that is not an issue with Cat 5 cabling in general. If you chop a Cat 5 cable in half, it looks the same as 4 TRS cables put together. It has 2 conductors and a shield, it's all copper and if you pass analogue audio through it, it sounds no different and does not measure any differently when using expensive measuring equipment, Again, we can't be sure of other systems, but this would not be the case with ours! Hope this helps! CA
These brothers at Cranbourne nocked it out of the park with these units. Well done gentlemen.
🙌 Thanks so much!
This looks great but this shouldn't be new in 2022, the the music production industry moves so slow
Thanks for having us Andertons 🙌 Pleasure to show off our creations to Jack and the legendary Tay Tay!!
It’s a gamechanger! Bravo “Cranborne Audio” team 👏🏻 brilliant devices 👏🏻 I'm starting to save up
This is an absolutely fuckin' brilliant piece of gear. Thank you so much! I'm just now trying to accumulate studio gear and was looking into 500 series stuff and looking at different adat converters. This thing really is a game changer. Jesus, you guys completely nailed it.
It was a great demo!
what's Camden Gold's series?
I’ve got a question. Let’s say all of my channels inputs are filled with modules (compressor, reverb, preamp etc) on every channels. Let’s say I have a synth that is connected on my 6th channel and I want this synth to go through compressor on channel 3. Can I routed from Cubase ? Thank you

Nice one, Jack. Good, knowledgeable product specialist guest as well. Cheers, Elliot.
This was a great look in to the Cranborne gear, I am sold!

this is amazing ! Im selling off my whole setup and this will be way better then what I have going on now thank you for this wonderful tutorial!
Man, this machine is a gearhead's blessing and curse. The GAS (iykyk) enabling going on here is so potent, my bank account is quivering. I can feel my wallet trying to hide deeper into my pocket. So much versatility, it hurts.

Yeah I record through one of these every day and its very reliable.

awesome review walk through. This thing is SICK

Call me an old dinosaur if you want but back in my day we mixed everything in the box! And we were happy with that! (-:
Cheers lads, pretty cool
I bought the Adat 500 wonderful really and now I’m looking for the R8, their own usb card with s500. Tired of plugins and all the problems every year. Go back to analog if you can, and record it on digital. The best way.
Love this....I'm getting one!
And people speed thousands on apollo plugins, satellites X8ps, x16s, this is way better.

There's no reason you wouldn't be able to do this. Adat will always be sent regardless of whether you use the usb portion or not.
Probably the best & most informative video on the Cranborne product line I've seen yet. Was already considering the ADAT expander chassis for my studio without even grasping all of it's possibilities.. Will definitely be snagging one now
Really good video, and an amazing piece of gear!

Digital music sucks
@@dannydaniel8975Digital has allowed regular people such as me to make music for the sake of it in the confort of our homes and at minimal cost.
Love this overview, thanks, guys! Any word on how this would work with/link up to UAD's Console?

Was thinking the same! Did you thought of buying both or two of the same?
This is a fascinating tool! Thanks for doing a deep dive on all the functions, I was looking at this for my first go at a 500 series rack and this answered so many questions
I wonder what ad/da chip they’re using? Time for a little google researching…
Very informative interesting
I’m really happy and proud for both of these companies right now ❤️ good job guys 👏🏼👏🏼 well done
I want this a lot. As soon as I can afford it. Which shouldn't be too long since the price seems excellent!
I'll trade you my unborn child for one of those
I so need all this in my life. What is it?
Game changing for the 500 series for me. What a fantastic bit of kit!!
This is really cool.
Dig this.

🥰 Wow, that is praise indeed! There is some serious gear in there and we are thrilled we stand up to it all! Thanks @@MockeryManor 🙌
Thanks for the video guys, FANTASTIC video explaining ADAT, learned a lot!!
HOLLY SHIT !!!!!!! THIS IS MORE THAN INCREDIBLE !!!!!!!!
that table gives me anxiety
WWD in full effect today (worlds wobbliest desk).
It's a true analog desk.
Wibbly wobbly is part of it's charm. 😛

Confusing.
WOW! I’ve been sleeping in this! This looks amazing!
Even the desk you're using has some analog drift...
Just picked up one of these 500 ADAT units.. sadly now i have no money to put a module in to test !! Oh the trials of students life!
More of this stuff guys, more going on in the studio than guitars Amps and pedals. David Bahar Edinburgh x
Nice. But expensive. But it does so mutch. Uff.
I thought that was Finneas
Wow this video is going to cost me some cash.
I absolutely love that 500r8…. I’ve been dying to get one for awhile now, all in one and everything you ask for! Really like seeing more videos about cranborne! ❤️
I'm blown away!!! took me 3 hours to find this gem
If the direct out are post module... i could come out of this into the X desk, for example. Right?
A must-have, period. too versatile.saving up
Snake Oil. The R8 must've been made by Behringer pre 2000..
Damn I want one of these so bad.
Wow !! I can’t remember being more excited about new kit. This seems to be a real game changer !!
Wow ! What a great way to handle this! WANT!
This company has a real bad reputation. Will not buy nothing from this company...No thanks...
You're right. Snake Oil at its best. Super crappy quality. I don't know if it has something to do with British people being drunk so often, but it kinda reflects in their production quality.
can i connect an appolo twin duo usb to this ? please ?
Sweet piece of rack !! Left a sub guys !

great vid bro
sangat sulit di pahami, harus di praktekkan

Demo sound 20:32
Absolutely no difference to make the conversion in an audio interface and then go to a 500 via analog and back or doing it in the Cranborne.
I need to take a shower 🚿
Hi there. How does the conversion compare to Lynx Aurora n 16? Thank you.
I must have watched this video 7x now. Great reference video.
OMG! I need that!
22:40 Whyyyyy oh my
2.18....u dont really need it .....yeah caz u can dl it to ur pc n run it thru ur daw...
that was an awesome demo!
Seriously considering the two of these units on my next serious studio upgrade. Thanks
Cranborne Audio is the best music production company in modern times!
Is it possible to combine the interface version with my Apollo solo via apple Audio-midi-setup like I can do it with other interfaces? So I don’t need a Apollo x4 or rack version?
Wonderful presentation. Great work!🎉👍🎸
The Ross Edgley of the professional audio world!
Why has it taken me a year to find this ....
Just get a better uad interface and put your analogue outboard on inserts
Holy shit that CAST business is quite innovative
how would this be integrated into a patchbay and use the rest of my outboard gear for recording specifically?
nvm just saw the shot of the back of the unit! was 11min in :) cheers!

Audio crack, we love it : )
Those are some nice pieces of gear!
Fantastic gear
Absolutely fantastic content
