How to RESET the SERVICE Light on a BMW 3 Series E90, E91, E92, E93

- Hi, this video shows you how to reset the Service Indicator on a BMW 3 series when you do your own servicing. It also shows you what the different symbols mean and how to check the service information on your car. The car used in the video is a 2013 BMW 318i E93 (coupe). This process will be the same on the E90 (saloon), E91(estate) and E93 (convertible). Other BMWs might also follow a similar process.

The most clear explanation of these texts. To the point, easy to follow not to mention devoid of annoying music. Superb. Thank you.
This was a huge help. The dealer did the "vehicle check" and did not reset the meter. This worked perfect and saved me a trip 15 miles away. One difference: I had to start my car in order to get the same menus you had. I have a 2011 E90 and when I went through your steps, the menus never came up. After I started the car, everything worked perfect. Thanks!
Thanks Vince for a clear and easy to follow video. It helped me to re set my bmw service light after I changed oil and break pads. Big thanks
Clear and precise. No shaky camera too. Thanks
Life is so much easier to simplify than complicate. Brilliant stuff mate. Cheers.
Many thanks for posting this, it worked a treat, usual story, garage changed front brake pads and oil and filter without re setting the service reminders, this method cleared them straight away no problem.
Just replaced the rear brake sensor on my E91 here in the UK, and needed to reset the service lights.
Superb explanation, and has done the job. Result, and thank you!
I couldn't get my brake sensors to stay put, they kept falling out no matter what I did so I just cut the wires and soldered them together and reset the brake warning. now I can never get a code ever again because the circuit is normally closed and now I don't need the sensors. I think it's pretty obvious when your brakes are worn out. the sensor is useless.
Thank You VERY MUCH. I been looking for this for my BMW 318.
Much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.
Thank you!! I’ve watched so many videos and they were all wrong. This was the only I found that actually worked with my car. I need to save this video.
Thanks! The other video explaining how to reset the vehicle check lights were really unhelpful! This was exactly what I wanted to see and answered my questions.
Thank you for the useful info! I've taken my car to the dealership 3 times for parts replacement & service since my service light came on last year, yet for some reason they didn't reset the service light. Finally got tired of seeing it & was trying to see if there was a way I could just reset it myself rather than make an appt at the dealership just to have them do what they forgot to do. This solved my problem. Thanks!
Oil service light had just come on after I’d changed the oil. Used this tip and worked a treat.
Easiest video to understand on this, hands down. THANK YOU!

It worked for the most part. Had a couple of indicators that were missed to be resetted. One worked and one refused to work. Good video.
Good video, very well explained. Thanks
Great video mate. Really informative and very easy to understand.
Thank you for sharing this valued information.
Many thanks. Just managed to get mine reset. Worked on a Z4 E89.
Thank you sir, this was a great help, I was on the verge of searching for a diagnostic scanner to get rid of the horrible red message, especially as my car is in tip top condition. 🙏🙏
I have a 2012 328i (N52 engine). The local BMW dealer wanted around $800 for Spark Plugs, Microfilter (air cabin) and brake flush. I replaced the Spark plugs and filter myself for under $100 and then had a local Goodyear shop flush the brakes, all for less than $225. Reset the Service and brake fluid light. Took less than 5 minutes and worked perfectly. Dan from Kansas City

Thank you. Helps a lot.
Works perfectly. Thanks.
Great, just what I needed to know👍👍👍
Thank you so much! Those lights have been a tad annoying for a while haha
Thanks so much man, just adding also make sure all your doors and boot is closed otherwise it wont let you access that screen. I bought my e92 330d recently and couldnt work out how to turn the vehicle inspection light off so this video was a god send. Cheers
Didn't work on mine. 2010 M3-spec wagon. If I pushed the starter button with no foot on the brake it just came up with an exclamation mark. Not the one in the triangle. If I have the engine running I and hold the odo reset I get the exclamation mark in the triangle but nothing else.
Stuart Aitken Yes, you need to close all the doors to get rid of the ignition on warning ⚠️ took me ages to realise
thanks, nice and clear video, to the point.
Great vid mate, thx 👍
Perfect thanks mate from Denmark 😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yaay!! Thanks so much for this!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
very helpful. Thanks
Very well made video . Thanks
Brilliant video, thank you. Just back from dealer oil service with service light still on, refused to reset it fully as i didn't get brake fluid done too. If they told me beforehand i would have got fluids done but i do very little miles and didn't think it needed it. Tyre shine on brakes and tyres which nearly caused me to have an accident at the first roundabout leaving the dealer and noticed slight damage to my door after getting home. After complaining they said they'll reset for no charge. They charge for this simple thing????
Best video to understand 👍🏽
Thanks, will reset my 335i service light in the morning.
Nice one, sorted me right out.
