it is not often mentioned that the status of Alfonso De Albuquerque among the Goan Hindus then was almost of Savior or Lord Ram , expressed in the spontaneous celebration of all the Goan hindus after the victory, which did not go well with Portuguese advisers to the King, and subsequently, while on his return to Goa from Suez, he received the news he was fired from his Governor's post and replaced by his enemy at the court.he died on his return, Goan Hindus mourned his death deeply. in fact, if there was a calamity or any adverse situation in Goa , Goan hindus would offer him pooja at his memorial where his remains were kept last and the adversity would disappear. the same reverence has been mysteriously transcribed to St Francis now.
the reason for his removal from his Governors post , the advisers feared due to his close association with the natives and their adulation, alfonso de albuquerque might sever ties with Portugal and form his own kingdom and. there are some historian agree that if had lived long( he died young, 45 years old), and was not removed from office he could have conquered the whole Deccan.

Afonso de Albuquerque was NOT young when he died, he was 62 years old (born in 1453, died in 1515) and had been suffering from dysentery (incurable back then) since the capture of Hormuz. His son Braz was a teenager when he died. When Braz became an adult, he wisely invested the money he inherited from his father and used the profits to fulfill one of the wishes in his father's Will - the construction of a chapel to house his remains in the same Lisbon church where his own father was buried. This chapel project became part of the reconstruction project of the entire church and was finished in 1565. Then Albuquerque's body was moved to Lisbon in 1566 and buried in that chapel. Braz was also buried there when he died in 1580.

Sambhaji pretty much came close to demolishing the Portuguese hold in Goa, and if they had succeeded, the Marathas would definitely have demolished every church in Goa. The Portuguese came for trade but brought about forced conversion of people. Which led to death of huge Hindu population also those who agiteted them were tortured, mudered.Even women were forced not to wear mangalsutra, sindoor an keep tulsi. They interefeared with culture and food habits.People were made to eat pork, beef etc.Thats why we see Goan catholics are completely different from other Indian Catholics. So many temples and hindus religious places were destroyed and completely demolished. And temple materials were used to build Churches. Most of the churches in Goa built during the Portuguese Era were built at the very spot where there laid a temple. Most of people migrated to Karnataka,Maharastra and othere neighboring hilly areas of Goa with there deities. As a result we see many konkani speaking people in Karnataka,Maharastra and Kerala as well.

@@binilissac3376 there is no evidence that brahmanism was present in Kerala kingdoms at that time.
The emergence of Malayalam from Tamil is the closest date we have to bind Brahmanism arrival to Kerala which was hundreds of years later. ST Thomas cannot be linked to converting Brahmins, therefore. You might be getting confused with Thomas of Cana who was Syriac businessman who bought middle Eastern Jewish and other middle Eastern families who accepted Christianity.
Converting fellow Jews and people around them would have been the aim of apostles.
There is no hard evidence remaining as most important documents were destroyed when Portuguese burnt down Syriac churches during their war against Syriac Christianity in Kerala kingdoms. There is a greater chance of the Saint arriving as the trade route was a busy route and great many middle Eastern people were in the kingdoms and historically that is how religions spread, I.e. via the trade routes. This is why Syriac Christianity had reached Chinese kingdoms too.
There is no doubt that Christianity arrived in Kerala very early but if you don't want to believe in ST Thomas' arrival that's OK too.

Prajal is a good man, but historical research backed by archaeology should be like scientific research, the discovery of truth, it is not about being eurocentric or indo centric.we can learn from truth not lies. in fact, the old testament in bible, the jewish scribes account of Moses, their escape from Egypt and journey in the desert have been discounted by archaeology. But it can be allegory. but no reputed historian will deny the historicity of Jesus Christ which is well documented by independent sources.
In Goa's case it was not a conquest but Liberation by joint military operation - The Goan Hindus led by Timmaya Naik and his men and the Portuguese, most of the critical surveillance and intelligence on the topography, the state of affairs in Adil shah court and his military was provided to the Portuguese by Goan Hindus without which it would have been impossible to oust the Moors or Muslims. even after the so called "Conquest" the King of Portugal had requested Alfonso de Albuquerque . to hand over Goa back to local hindus, for fear it would have detrimental effect on their trade with others along the Malabar coast and beyond, if they were viewed as conquerors.
meanwhile, across our borders from 1510 onward, rest of India or Indians had to suffer the tyranny of the Moghuls and later the humiliation of being ruled by Corporation (East India) for profit for 100 years till finally it came under the domain of the crown. but there were benefits too, scientific knowledge, processes , western medicine, communication, transportation networks-roads, railways etc which led to unification of various disparate region or else India today, would have resembled Africa with various independent countries.not states. British too were influenced by Darwin and had innate bias against Indians, not too evolved, enslaved by their past, to merit their citizenship or even conversion,

It was 2nd Conquest' that Portuguese regained their hold and Moors as they called them were massacred .It was not peanuts there were million men on the other side but they retreated, after the fall of one of their Generals. but there were superior battle tactics, weaponry, and intelligence gathered from native Hindus which helped greatly in the battle.
yes, Emperor Akbar had special relationship with Portuguese . he had one of his son's tutored by Jesuit. the Imams were not too fond of him and rebelled against him. . But he needed a permit from Portuguese who dominated the seas to travel to Medina for pilgrimage.
