There were more Goans in India than in Goa in 1961. For Example I am a Goan too though my family was driven away by Portuguese hundreds of years back, and they built a church over the temple of my family goddess. I am not religious but my ancestors must have been devastated.

So I am.not very sure how it could have been better under Portugal as they would.have used it's rich natural resources to.tide away from its economic mess. As such goa is being managed by goans, except for security, communication and foreign policy, everything is in the hands of the goan state government run, elected and manned by goan people themselves.
