Are you proud of being colonized by Portuguese? Are you happy being dominated by them; they forced you to convert to Catholics from Hinduism? There is absolutely nothing to be proud of being a Goan.
Like the majority of Goans, I treasure our freedom and the basic right to rule ourselves. Now after 58 years we can ask what has happened in Goa and Goans. Most people familiar with Goa have their respective opinions on this question. All things considered, the time has come to give Goa special status in the Indian Union or there is increasing danger that Goans will become extinct.
There were more Goans in India than in Goa in 1961. For Example I am a Goan too though my family was driven away by Portuguese hundreds of years back, and they built a church over the temple of my family goddess. I am not religious but my ancestors must have been devastated.
@@nkmahale yes the time you speak of there were no goans, before the portuguese arrived there, what were we? we were not goans..so sad..i want to know my family history dating back before we had portuguese names but sadly i wouldn't know how to do that and most of that will have been burned i am sure.
@@leeoconnor123 Some families have kept memories. I met a Goan womam who said that their family name was Pai. Temples and Churches may have kept records as well. But then again if it could be 400 years back and it could be difficult. I am not particular about finding roots since if I go back far enough I might find Chimpanzee like being as my ancestor.
Yes , we can only imagine what it must have looked like centuries ago already we have lost so much l'm afraid this continues we are staring at disaster it s not meant to accomodate this many people soon the uniqueness will be destroyed.
Goans observed Natural Law (aka Law of God, Wisdom Law) in their comunidade villages. The lust and lure of monetary gain has turned Goans away from Natural Law. They now prefer to embrace State Law: of the selfish, for the selfish, by the selfish. Choose Wisdom, save Goa.
