    It's kind of unfortunate how youtube favors long format to this category of videos so videos like yours gets hard to find. It's always someone telling you a story first about their grandma's cookie recipe and their ongoing divorce. Anyway this is a long comment so hopefully it helps with the algorithm.

    I had a dark background and had to set my threshold to 0 (default was 15). Otherwise, wonderful guide, straight to the point, thank you very much.
    I think a full, non-panning screen would've been nice, the moving frames got me a little disoriented.

    how can you save the image onto a transparent background? (in the video you insert Homer onto a new background, but if i don't want a background at all) because i tried saving the image without a background and it just turned into a white background by default. is there a way i can stop that from happening?

Select the text layer and there are two methods which may give you the effect you desire, the Rotate tool will change the angle of your text or use the Perspective tool to create the slant you require, moving the points of the layer to achieve the slant 👍

    That's great if you have a solid one-color background, it doesn't work for a busy background with multiple colors or objects of different colors.

    How can I make a tiled image after using this technique with the transform tool instead of map/tile?

      Using the transform tool you could scale your image down then copy and paste as a new layer multiple times over a larger canvas but using the Map > Tile tool would be easier. Good luck

      If there is a defined line missing between colours that are the same, both parts of the image will be removed. Where all of your options correct as per the video?

    What do you export the file as? I saved it as png but it was horrendous

      I usually save it as Gimp XCF file first (this is so I can edit the layers in the future if I need to make changes). Then I Export As and choose PNG file.

    Hey mate, I have a question. My backround is black and as it works, it deleted parts of the character(foreground) that is also dark in color/ black. Can u tell me how to revert just a small portion that i dont want to be touched? Thanks a lot, cheers

      It might be because at some part of your image there is no clear separation by a line of a different colour. In this video, you can remove the background by cutting around the image which may work better for you: ua-cam.com/video/gpyri-tfkqw/v-deo.htmlsi=1RvyGth9QdgfqMS_

      I wonder if YT is deleting my replies or is just bugged into oblivion, but i did it. "Laso select" pixel by pixel copy of the part i want to keep onto a new working tab (space), and after aplying bucket fill to get rid of the bacround copy paste it back onto the original layer.@@usemybox

    Oh no...I followed this, but now when I try to layer my image (painted blades of grass) over the other images, I see only the silhouette of the grass as a transparency over the other objects. What happened?

      @@oceanhudson From tool options window, change the affected area option to one of the other options or change the colour of the background so it's different to your image

      @@JuanSanchez-ik7wx Is the image you are removing the background from a multi layer image? That might cause your layer to be black. Try the process on a different image, if it works that might indicate your image is multi layer. Good luck
