@ReturnoftheBrotha Lord, when will folks get off the "Whites are THIS and Blacks are THAT" train? Did NONE of you hear a word Moms said? We're Human Beings - PERIOD.
We might as well harp on the size of each other's noses - or divide-up over eye color. Whoever decided we had to be categorized and put on a "side" anyway?
All I know is, when I was young boy, I'd always laugh when Moms Mabley came on the TV. She was a true original - and FUNNY! My grandmother , who was born in 1895 was about Moms' age - and except for Moms' oversized shoes - they kinda dressed alike.
All grandmas wore those loose-fitting nightgowns around the house in the '50s and '60s. They'd keep their teeth in a glass of Poli-dent while you're trying to eat lunch - and think nothing of it.
And when they told you about life, you paid attention. God help you if you didn't! if you didn't, they'd thump you with a thimble upside your head. Their skin-tone didn't make a difference. They ALL did ti.

I loved watching your 'Moms' when I was a child. I'm no spring chicken now, but still have some acting in me that wants to tell some of Moms story. I hope to hear from you. And thank you.

I will always remember the good humor of Moms Mabley when I first saw her on The Ed Sullivan show and she came on stage and asked it she could make herself "more comfortable." After removing her false teeth, she quipped, "The ONLY thing an old man can do for me, is to bring me news from a young one!" How the hell can you top that! Gotta love her, and in my mind she is still alive anytime I put on her numerous vinyl comedy recordings!
