@ReturnoftheBrotha Lord, when will folks get off the "Whites are THIS and Blacks are THAT" train? Did NONE of you hear a word Moms said? We're Human Beings - PERIOD. We might as well harp on the size of each other's noses - or divide-up over eye color. Whoever decided we had to be categorized and put on a "side" anyway? All I know is, when I was young boy, I'd always laugh when Moms Mabley came on the TV. She was a true original - and FUNNY! My grandmother , who was born in 1895 was about Moms' age - and except for Moms' oversized shoes - they kinda dressed alike. All grandmas wore those loose-fitting nightgowns around the house in the '50s and '60s. They'd keep their teeth in a glass of Poli-dent while you're trying to eat lunch - and think nothing of it. And when they told you about life, you paid attention. God help you if you didn't! if you didn't, they'd thump you with a thimble upside your head. Their skin-tone didn't make a difference. They ALL did ti.
This Beautiful lady was the ultimate in class, dignity, and style. You can never find a comedian that commanded a stage like she could.Clean simple comedy with such side splitting lines that intertwined with your own life, allowing you to laugh at yourself and feel good about it....quite simply the Best...
I am writing a show on your 3 Times Great Grandma. And certainly would like to speak to you about it and her. Would like to visit maybe one day with mask on. I loved watching your 'Moms' when I was a child. I'm no spring chicken now, but still have some acting in me that wants to tell some of Moms story. I hope to hear from you. And thank you.
Mom's faith just lifted us. She loved God and all of us. She knew life is tough. It's like pushing a car up a hill with a rope! That was a line in one her hilarious stories.
I listen to stand-up on Pandora all the time and ran into her comedy one day. She instantly became one of my favorites. I could listen to her all day. Would have loved to have met her, but she unfortunately passed away before I was born.
I will always remember the good humor of Moms Mabley when I first saw her on The Ed Sullivan show and she came on stage and asked it she could make herself "more comfortable." After removing her false teeth, she quipped, "The ONLY thing an old man can do for me, is to bring me news from a young one!" How the hell can you top that! Gotta love her, and in my mind she is still alive anytime I put on her numerous vinyl comedy recordings!
I'm 31 and never heard of this lady until now so empowering lovely lady she went through so much in her lifetime rest in love Mr mom's keep my mom and dad laughing in heaven ❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful. I love listening to her; her voice, the rhythm and cadence of her speech, the wisdom and insight, the poetic way in which she assembles her thoughts. She was a hilarious comedienne who used her forum to bring people together. Wonderful woman.
She spoke the truth and was able to give the world something that it needed at that time. Such grace and gentle kindness and compassion mixed with a sense of humor.
I'm so blessed that my life intersected, if only briefly, Mom's and all the pioneers of American Television, and some of the greatest entertainers of the theatre, stage, and movies, and thanks to God for the wisdom to appreciate them and revere them from the beginning.
At 1:45 Moms says she's an American. She wanted to expand on that topic, speak her mind. But the interviewer just plows ahead with her scripted question. She didn't even listen.
I was born in 1947 I can remember Jackie Moms Mabley I used to love moms we didn,t have too many blacksto watch on TV so she was a treat for us to watch RIP Moms
When I first saw her perform (on Ed Sullivan? Smothers Brothers Show?), I was bowled over by her subversive humor... she was the inspiration for Phyllis Diller and I see traces of her in the old Roseanne Barr. In life, she was apparently far above the racism of the day, God bless her.
I hope they do a biography explaining of her later years because it is so important for all of us regardless of anything else. She shown you how to live as we age gracefully
WOW! The legendary Moms Mabley being interviewed by a very young and pretty Tanya Hart. A double treat. I believe that Moms Mabley is the greatest female comedian of them all and she also contributed as a civil rights activists. I remember when Tonya Hart had that excellent show on BET.
I have been playing her for 18 years. tonight with Jackie moms Mabley received a Helen Hayes Award. I am the actor and director Charisma Wooten. Her family has always been very nice to me I have all the memorabilia and it is my honor to keep her alive .Thank God for her presence. 240/568/6055.
Got to love this I don't know what year it is this is this is 2018 and I'm watching this today going through what she saying in America this is still going on she's probably turning over in her grave literally
I wonder what Mom's would say about the confusion and spite going on today. All the division that is being taught and forced upon our children. I sure would have loved to meet her in person!
Moms would flip out today. None of this political correctness for her should she be alive today. What a genuine, decent loving woman. Wish she was here now!!
Oh how I remember Moms Mabley when I was 11 years old watching her & Red fox on TV. May the wind Carry Your Wings.

Bless you dear woman, rest in peace. And thanks for the wisdom & all the laughs.
If her heart was hurt over her country in 1975, God only knows what she'd think about today.
Moms would flip out today. None of this political correctness for her should she be alive today. What a genuine, decent loving woman. Wish she was here now!!
She didn’t focus on people’s differences and people today shouldn’t either. We are one race, the human race.
Serious question, is that a young Robin Quivers?
