This goes out to anyone doing this, a little advice, take out the brake and accelerator pedal mounting base that mounts to the firewall. It is a little tricky in itself but if you are attempting the task at hand you got this. Unscrew the bolt heads on the master cylinder and one nut to the left of the booster under the hood now just unbolt the rest from inside the car, bend the mounts inward and it will come out. This will give you complete access to the actuator gears you are replacing and line them up properly. Then it all goes back together easy. Its definitely stupid no doubt but hope this tip helps the next person.
@@cfdcaptain99 if i remember right, i had the steering column disconnected but sitting on the drivers seat. I think initially when i did this i was trying to get as much access as possible so i took the steering column out of the way and that allowed me more room to get the other stuff out of the way. Its not too bad getting the column out of the way tho.
@@mhinz00 Just finished up the job on my ‘13. Was way easier than I thought. Dropped lower airbag, removed floor air duct, and removed metal plate on the right side of the pedal mount. Then everything was accessible. Need a 5.5mm 1/4 drive socket and a 5.5 ignition wrench to remove actuator. A little trial & error with gear timing and done. Thanks
@@cfdcaptain99 what issue were you having? I just bought my daughter a 13 malibu and the air will go to defrost, but just kind of blows everywhere when you select the top vents.
Just did mine. Tips I can give now. Took air bag and black air toob of took that bracket off 4 bolt on one side and two bolt on the other and had all kinds of room took me 2 hours.
What was the issue you where having to make you do this? I’m having a issue on my 13 malibu where air blows out of the floor vents and barley out of the top vents when its supposed to all be in the top vents
I seen your license plate in manitoba , I also live in winnipeg, was wondering if you can come to my shop and help me out I’ll pay for it I’m on Springfield road

Unbelievable, how can the GM engineer design that cannot be repaired easily. Customer should be compensated for the labour time. Or people don't buy GM. $3000 for this is a design flaw, or they are meant to last forever.
They were taught that if you cannot quickly repair what you designed, scrap the design and products. I guess they were taught one, and do something different. Guess GM car owners have to be creative, and use a portable fan that plugs into your cell phone, and clear the fog inside.

I will remember this for the next time for sure!
Do you still have to remove the steering column to get the mount removed?

Broken cams
Gear timing just does seem to work for me no matter how I align lobes???
Probably needs a recalibration
Good work. Anything newer than 72 is a new car... lol
I don't know what sucked more, this or the Komatsu lol
Meh- canics lol
New sub from slipping 🦎
How do you synchronize it back to its proper order
I just eyeballing it after playing with the settings to see where everything sits.
You can also recalibrate it with a scan tool
Did you have any issues with the power steering when you reinstalled the column? Thanks!
No, just make sure your wheels are straight and mark it under the dash

No can do!
🤣🤣🤣😅😅 the tools! It's how it goes though
I'm having the same problem
Now you know what to do, just make sure you remember where the cams were pointing
@@meh-canics9628 yup got that sorted out, since it was broken idk where it was pointing but now I'm just putting everything back together
