A friend of mine, who was an experienced diver, went diving for great white sharks protected by a steel cage off the South Australian coastline. When he returned and I asked him how it went he said - it was very unnerving to be in the water with 2 colossal animals that viewed him as food and were hell bent on breaking into the cage to eat him. He was a brave guy normally, but what happened out there really shook him up.
Honey they dont view people as food. This show is set up. Going diving and seeing them is one of the coolest things you can do. They dont bother you. They will check it out that's it. Your buddy isnt real or if he is hes lying. On these shows they feed the sharks a shit ton same when u go in a cage so u see a shit ton of sharks

Have you considered the possibility that you are generalizing your experience and that others may have had a different experience? How do you know the mind of a great white?
If they didn’t view people as food, how come some of them eat entire humans while others just take bites? Great whites are unpredictable and if they’re hungry enough, they have no issues eating people. Same as many species of sharks. Ship wrecks are testament to that. You don’t want to be floating out in the open deep areas. Lol

I cannot believe they used ridiculously thin plexiglass. It should be round and much much thicker. Having corners, gives the shark something to bite on. The footage from above, you can see the walls of the cage flexing just due to waves. Clearly even a rather small shark would be able to crash through its sides. This guy was put out there as shark bait. I also noticed there did not seem to be a boat close by. Usually this is done BESIDE a vessel so you can get out quickly to safety.

This is the second ghost cage that I saw invaded. One was completely destroyed and the occupant had a close call. He went back a year later and had a stroke on the way out to the dive.
He did!! Wow!! I just watched that video and it was terrifying!
I love shark documentaries. And I respect the biologists that go out there and try to learn about these magnificent creatures . I think sometimes in these documentaries they do things purposely to cause that shark to attack just for the ratings in the views. It's because of stuff like that the people are terrified of these beautiful creatures. What they should be telling people is that sharks don't even like humans. They bite a human they realize it's not what they want they spit it back out. Sometimes we as humans cause our own tragedies.

I believe he would of been just fine with out a cage ☺️. And what ur seeing is the sharks simply not seeing the clear glass in their path. The sharks were not attacking, but checking out our diver and getting more comfortable and curious with the glass. Im free diving with some whites next year soon. Wish me luck!

Lol he was surrounded by 7-8 sharks, that would be suicide to make a break for it in a mating ground. That's why he waited until it was calm and they were a decent distance from him, trust me he was safer in that box.

When they went up to it and the door broke he started getting even more scared then he already was. When they were swimming around it they couldn't figure out what was around him. That's why they were hitting it. If those sharks really wanted him they never would have left him alone. And he definitely wouldn't have been able to get back to the boat. They knew he wasn't a seal. Great Whites have amazing eye sight. What they couldn't understand was what was around him. Their very smart. And they get curious. That's really all it was. As long as you respect them and don't fear them their not going to notice you. If you see one coming towards u it's not going to bite u. If it was it would come from behind or under you. As long as your cool and swim away or if your in a small boat or something just go away from them and you'll be fine.
