This was a beautiful story, it brought tears of happiness to my eyes. I'm so glad that Mr. Norman is finally able to hear again & continue the fantastic life that he's built.
Wow this truly touched my heart! I am deaf in one ear and only have 52% hearing in that ear. My cochlear is a big open hole in my good ear. I’ve lost my hearing twice and went deaf. It was the scariest moments of my life. I got it back by the grace of God and a great doctor who had doubts himself that I’d ever hear again. You do isolate yourself from others. Each time I got it back I lost 10% more hearing. Even with a hearing aid it’s hard. God bless this dr and his work. That man was so sweet and I’m so happy that he can hear. I can relate to him. Share more of these.
Hi I am half deaf also but like Norman if you talk in front of me I see the lips and it seals the deal as the saying goes but if you chat behind me it’s like mumble jumble I don’t get it but as yrs go on I’m going to loose my hearing as I’m already mumbling words and I get frustrated and it makes me sad 😢

I can relate to Norman's situation before he received his CI surgery and activation, the feeling of isolation, etc. I just had CI surgery 8 days ago and will be activated on May 15th. I'm so excited and even if I initially only hear beeps that first day, it's okay because learning to hear again is a journey. I'm so happy for Norman and inspired by him and his story! I found Cochlear first-time hearing videos while surfing this humongous wave called UA-cam. My dad is 94 and I desperately want him to ride the wave. These hearing vids got him hanging ten and hanging on for more. Norman is one cool cat, he's easy and articulate. The compilations of first-time hearing vids are so excruciatingly addictive that I will be spending a lot more money on tissues, but it will be well worth it. Great job to the Doctor and technicians.
As a retired audiologist from Melbourne Australia, I had the great privilege of studying and working closely with Dr Graeme Clark and his team's legacy; as inventor of the first cochlear implant, in this city. This story resonates very dear to my heart. x

Beautiful story 🥺💜 I’m currently in my mid 20s and am losing hearing hearing in my left ear after losing most of my hearing in my right ear. Definitely can relate to being withdrawn, not as social and outgoing as I usually am with friends and family. My doctor said I’m a good candidate for a cochlear implant and it’s very inspiring to see another person of color’s story with a positive impact as there aren’t many. For the the first time I’m seriously considering it, despite being ashamed and self conscious of how it’ll affect my appearance (hairstyles, etc). Thank you so much for sharing Norman’s story! Made a positive impact on me
I’m seeing an audiologist this morning and am so excited! I can’t quite explain what happened to my hearing, but it’s been months of vertigo and hearing loss.
My husband had the same. Vertigo then hearing loss. It was vestibular neuritis, then BPPV, then vestibular migraines. They all gave him vertigo. The VN destroyed his hearing. It took many months before finding doctors who can deal with all that. PT as well for the BVVP. He still has momentary vertigo every 1-1/2 months or so. We finally found a ENT and neurologist at NYP who helped him. We are located in NYC and medical care is the only reason we are staying in NYC.
Beautiful, uplifting video. I woke up on Feb 1, 2020 with sudden sensorineural hearing loss in right ear. Heard fine the day before. Ever since then, my left ear rings on and off and sometimes feels like it might go the same route. I have always loved music, so losing my hearing is devastating to me. I often worry about losing the hearing in my left ear as well. It's nice to know that technology like this exists, so that if I should lose my sense of hearing, there still might be hope that I can hear the world around me again. I hope Norman is still doing well. He seems like such a gentle soul and is deserving of God's blessings. I think he has indeed been looked after by God.

Amazing man and amazing technology!!!! I have most of my hearing but Norman has many great qualities that a lot of us don’t have!! He’s a great man!!!!
I am deaf since a few months ago. I was misdiagnosed , treated, fell down a flight of stairs and the cause was eventually found. Infection and inflammation in the mastoid bone. Both ears severely damaged. I didn’t realise how isolated I became. It was embarrassing to be around people and not hear or speak properly. I have facial paralysis as well which was misdiagnosed as palsy. It scares me everyday that it’s not recovering. I wish we could all get better and not endure suffering. This year was the worst. I’m still unsure of a bone bridge and cochlear implant and which is advisable.. at the moment I’m using a bone conduction amplifier which causes headaches, fatigue and pain where it is placed. It also causes tension knots on the scalp and neck. I would like to know if anyone experiences this sort of pain and if the cochlear or bone bridge implant is less painful during tinnitus. Please anyone 🙏

Well,I disagree. I don’t think god had anything to do with my implant bc I’m an atheist….just since Trump!😂 But I will agree….it’s quite the miracle!
