I was Barrys FedEx guy for three years. Asked me my name first time he met me and never forgot it. Always waved when I didn't have a stop when he was outside and always a class act. Only time I was star struck on the job and I delivered to a lot of athletes and millionaires and a couple of billionaires

I work retail in Detroit, and Barry came into where I worked. Instinctively, I got low to pretend to try and block him as he came into the store, and he gave a smile and juked around me. As a Lions fan during that time, I didn't care about him breaking the record, because that would have come. I wanted a really good QB to pair with Barry so the Lions could reach a Super Bowl. If Joe Montana became a Detroit Lion and the two of them stayed healthy, a SB would have been in the cards indeed.

I was born in 90, I was born in Pontiac, MI the same city that held all of his home games at the Silverdome and I was barely old enough to remember my dad and uncles talking about him and showing me replays they had recorded on tape and how sad they were but happy for him for his retirement. The only sadness that came was because he wasn’t able to get a ring, but we all know he was one of the best to run it back then!! That statue is a solid 15+ years overdue. Over 2800 rushing yds in a single season at Oklahoma State. Common misconception is that Barry Sanders was a home run hitter but not a consistent “hit the hole and pickup 4-7 yds/carry” running back. Nuh, nuh, nuh, no, he never really had a good O-Line when he was with the Lions, and most of what he accomplished, he accomplished despite his lackluster offensive line. If he had Emmitt’s offensive line, he would be well over 20,000 career rushing yds.

Im 53 and absolutely love Barry and the lions. He is such a class act. Never spiked.the ball or act like a clown in the end zone. Instead, he would simply toss the ball to the ref, after running circles around defenders. In the early to mid 90s, i went to Reno Nev. While at a casino,.i remember meeting this dude with a huge cowboy hat, boots,.the whole 9 yards. He was from Texas. The lions game was about to start, so he was heading to the sports betting area. He told me.that he was a cowboys fan but there was nothing better than watching Barry Sanders play. That was the first time i truly realized how popular he was everywhere.

And unlike some of the players we have seen since he did not need to talk himself up, he let others do it for him while he backed it up. I would love the boys to do a segment where they select a NFL side of the last 45 years. Montana and Barry on the same team...... what...!?!? Doesn't matter what age they were... that's a couple of GOATS in a Lions backfield...

As a Tampa Bay Buccaneer season ticket holder back in the 1990s, Sanders was the only player where the whole stadium rose to their feet every time he touched the ball.

I remember playing Barry’s heisman season in NCAA 13 and being shocked at his stats every single game. I’d feel overpowered as hell just trying to match what he did in real life

Walter Payton was my favorite player and reason I became a Bears fan. Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all time. Man is class personified. Walter's the greatest football player of all time though Pat.

Barry was the best running back ever and the most humble. It took Emmitt 7 years after Barry retired to break the record so there's no question on who's the best ever.

Without a doubt the greatest running back of alltime. To do what he did with that terrible o-line year after year was unreal. Watched his entire career and even though I was a Redskins fan he was my favorite running back in that era.
