Great job! Thank you so much for the quality video. So many people talk about the project and waste your time. You get right to it and do an awesome job of the video and the barrel too. Blessings, Jim
good evening, congratulations for the video, it is very explanatory. I wanted to ask you where I can find the hinges you put on the door and the ring to be able to open it. Thank you. Paolo.
Hey great build! Love this. I'm building one for my wife. Quick question. I purchased the hinges you have in the description and I did notice the slop they have. When I installed the door it drops a good bit. Should I take more off the top and bottom? What is the spacing between the hinges? Thanks for any input.
Hello I’m wanting to make the same cabinet but with two doors. The issue I’m running into in my head is is how to make both doors the same width and length. I’m not using the bung hole for the doors it will be in the back of the barrel. Do you have any tips on finding the center so that both doors would be equal. I would really appreciate it. -Austin
Very beautiful! I am about to do the same. I have a little question though. Why not paint the rims in black when your remove then instead of painting them with all the tapes once its back on the barrel? This will certainly help me in my project :)
Hello! The only reason I don’t do that is because when hammering the rings back on and cutting them will chip and remove some paint. You could just touch it up at the end , just a matter of preference to be honest .
The finish on this one did come out a bit funky but we have upgraded the process for the interior finish as well as the exterior since this video. Appreciate the feedback.
Is putting the spacers between the door before the hinges what’s allowing the door to fully open? Also do you recommend putting the hinges in the middle? I added one on top, middle and bottom but forgot to put something to separate the door so it’s not opening fully
Yes the spacers allow for the door to swing all the way open even with wood expansion. The closer the hinges are to the center to easier it will open, the hinges I currently use have some slop which helps because they adapt better to the rounded surface. I used to use strap hinges directly over the metal bands. They looked nice because they blended but they would wear over time from too much tension. Hope this helps.
Great video, this is where I would love knowing someone who enjoys woodworking and creating a unique outdoor piece of furniture.
I’d say the best tutorial I’ve seen on this
Very much appreciated, thank you

FINALLY! Someone to show me how to use one of those tie-down thingies
Haha, they need a tutorial of their own for sure
Great job - thanks for documenting and sharing the process you use.
That barrel has a new life
Nice! I just got a couple barrels this past weekend. Plan to make my own cabinets. You made it look so simple.
Let me know how it goes !
Great job

Glass shelf
Lazy Suzan on the bottom
LED light in the top
This is a great video and the barrel looks awesome. Starting mine today. Could you let me know what finish you use please?
How many stays is your door. Or approximately far around do you go ⅓?
Thanks
Awesome
This is awesome! building this weekend! Where did the metal band on the inside of the door come from?
Magnifique, très beau travail.
Une petite question, ou trouver les charnières ?
Merci

Can I buy one from you?
Im doing a similar project, where did u get those hinges at?
What screws are you using please? They seem amazing. Going straight through metal and wood.
They're called self tapping screws
Very nice
Thank you!
I’ve looked everywhere for those self tappers do you have a name or code for them?
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
What is the diameter of the shelf?
What was the moisture content of the barrel when you started? Also, if you kept this beautiful piece, how is it looking now that it has dried out?
Did you pre-drill the holes on the rings? And what type of screws your use ? I tried to drill holes before and end up breaking the bits.
Very nice 👍
Top job

@@HardtwoodCustomWoodworks Thanks for the answer. Again, great work. I love it!
Can you provide a link to the hinges and other hardware you used for the door?
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
Did you use special hinges or are they just plain cabinet door hinges? Good video.
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
I’ve used a few different styles but these seem to work best so far .
@@HardtwoodCustomWoodworks where is the link for the hardware. Beautiful work.
No parts in the description 😞. What screws and what hinges are you using
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
O my god I need one
What kind of screws did you use? Great finishing job.
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
Great job! Excited to finish mine soon!
Como comprar?
really dumb question, what did you use for the shelf? Looking at tackling this build and that is the one thing I am stuck on
Hey we typically will use a lid left over from another barrel but you could also get a pre cut pine circle from Home Depot for like $10, 24 inches .
What setting was your jointer on?
Shouldn’t have to take off more than a 1/4 inch
@@HardtwoodCustomWoodworks Thanks I've made a couple button always struggle with the door.
what kid of hinges are those ?
Hey! Just updated the description with link for all the hardware.
where did you get those hinges?

Paint on straps killed it for me, that overspray looks horrendous

Messirve. I'm not going to paint it inside. I like the smell of old wine.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Pretty ugly actually but i see that you put alot of effort into it! I think you could have done better spraying it
Thank you for the feedback
@@HardtwoodCustomWoodworks It's not bad after all!
