      It was the coolest thing to realize that we were walking 15 meters (45 feet) under a glacier. And we couldn't believe that nobody else was there. It was surreal.

    That looks like a phenomenal experience! Did you do this in December/January? Or, any thoughts on what time of year would be the best for doing this?

    • @ThePlanetD

      We actually did this in August. It was hot down in Zermatt and winter conditions once we reached Glacier Paradise. In the winter it is open for skiing.

    Thank you for sharing another beautiful adventure from Zermatt! Matterhorn Glacier Paradis is another place on my list for this summer in Zermatt. I had a similar glacier cave experience in Chamonix, France years ago... Can I ask what kind of camera are you using for this video footage?

    • @ThePlanetD
      @ThePlanetD  2 роки тому +1

      Amazing that you are going to visit next summer, enjoy! Now you have made me want to go to Chamonix. The ice caves are so cool to visit. For this video, we kept it very simple, I used a GoPro Hero 9, iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's amazing what you can get from these two simple pieces of gear eh?

    • @AdventurewithSunny
      @AdventurewithSunny 2 роки тому

      @@ThePlanetD Your footage was good in the low lights... I normally unhappy with GoPro 9 for low light, but I'm impressed! Yes, Chamonix is another beautiful Alps town. I took a cable car to high peak, where those climbers take off for Mont Blanc summit, train to a glacier and many other activities! Actually, I hiked a long distance trail Tour du Mont Blanc. If you enjoyed Zermatt, I'm sure you'll enjoy Chamonix too.

    • @ThePlanetD
      @ThePlanetD  2 роки тому +1

      @@AdventurewithSunny I take it off 60 fps in low light and that helps a lot. It's not ideal but when spending the day hiking, I loved having a lighter backpack. At 07:08 in the cinema lounge you can really see how bad the low light is but I could live with it :)

    Thank you for your video! What kind of clothing layer do you suggest for this trip?

    • @ThePlanetD
      @ThePlanetD  Рік тому +1

      I recommend an outer layer that is windproof and waterproof and to have a base layer. of merino wool. If you are going in the summer, you don't need a heavy mid layer, but you will want some layering because it can be very cold up there. It is hot in Zermatt though, so you'll want a backpack so you can add or takeaway layers as the day goe on.

      That is a bummer! We had that happen at Bachalpsee in Grindelwald. It is really disappointing when the weather doesn't cooperate. Did you see any other lookouts in Zermatt? We had better weather at Gornergrat and Stellisee which made up for the bad weather on our end.
