Making Simple Leather Straps

- I am making some leather straps for a Kilt, using some scrap buffalo leather.
I will be cutting out the leather, punching buckle holes and using my post bed sewing machine to sew the straps to the kilt.
It's a joy to see you back in your workshop. 😊
Your pleasant voice and eminent competence at something real have been just the calming & grounding antidote I needed after an exhausting afternoon of 'business' phone calls. Thanks for showing up!
Thank you so much 😊
It's great that you are back in the workshop. All power to you.
Thanks 👍
Great seeing you back in your shop. My favorite channel! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent! KANSAS USA
Good to see you're back again :) Thanks for the upload. Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia, Dark Horns Leather.
So great to see you again! You have such calm yet such creativity!
Thanks
Very nice job Harry 👍
Thanks Peter
Good to see you back.
I ❤ your industrial sewing machines. They are super sweet with their electronic motors and all the features! I have an old (1930's) industrial singer. It wasn't built with reverse but the thicker the the fabric the better she sews.
I really appreciate this instructional video. I have a vest with viny sinch buckle that cracked. Now I have a solid plan to repair!
Thank you Harry! Looking good!! 😊
Thanks, I do like the old Singers and have an old 66 model
Hi Harry, It's great to see you and looking so well, I hope this is a reflection of your health. It's 2.20am and I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't sleep but seeing you in this video has cheered me up, thank you.
Best Wishes, Brendan
Thanks very much Brendan, you have been doing well with your woodturning, it's very good to hear from you. I am looking forward to some outdoor time. All the very best Harry
Great to have you back my friend. Nice little project 👍
Wonderful to see you. Thank you.
Oh Harry, so many of my belts were seemingly made too short, good to see you back for a bit, cheers.
Hello Harry! Good to see you again. Be well and don’t stay away so long. God bless!
Thanks, you too!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I was distressed to see that your online belt store was closed for health reasons, so I am glad that you are well and back on UA-cam.
Thanks Randall
God Bless you Harry Rogers!
Nice work Harry. I'm glad to see you again.
Thanks
Great to see you back, Harry!
Those straps only lasted 30 years!! It's hard to find quality these days. Its a good thing you're on the job. That kilt will survive into the next century now.
Enjoyed the video! Next up will be a request for you to make a sporran.
Looking forward to going back and watching your other videos after watching the very informative one about the hole punches.
Cheers...Freddie.
Good to see you back, hope your health is improving.
Thanks
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Harry.
Great to see you back and hope you're feeling a bit better.
Yes! Thank you!
I just noticed your back nice to see your well mate, just want to say the belt i had off you is the best leather belt i have every bought if you ever re open the shop i will be first inline.
Good to hear...thanks very much.
Hey Harry! Nice to see you in the shop. I never saw a kilt up close. I didn't know they had all those pleats. I do wish I had one of those roller foots (feets???) on my post bed, very nice for that type work. Hope to see more , take care
Thanks they are good for flat sews, not so great for seams.
Welcome home harry . Happy Trails
Hi Harry - appreciate the shout for 'Pittards' was wondering how you got hold of those scraps! I'm a novice as far as LW goes so grateful for your postings. Many thanks
That's great thanks...they are very good for leathers...I have had lovely bag hides from Pittards.
Putting an 'English Point' on the straps for a Scottish kilt? That's a bold move! LOL
Haha very good, and truth be known I doubt the English have any more claim to that shape than anyone else!
Loved that ❤
Nicely done, always enjoy your work!
Well done, Harry!
Thanks for the tips!
Happy to help!
Great video, thank you :^) I'm buying your new book next month if all goes to plan!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@harryrogers I know I will!
Thanks Harry
What's not to love about the simple solution you demonstrated here? What was the heavy punch you used to cut the end of the straps? I have a couple of circular vintage Priory , but would love to get an open one like this for belts, straps etc..
Hi if you take a look at C. S. Osborne ...V Strap End Punches, hopefully there will be something suitable for you.
Hi Harry--great video! As I was watching, my eye kept going to your watch, but I could never get a great look at the face to see the brand. However, I loved the numerals and the general size of the case. If you don't mind me asking, who makes that watch?
Hi Chad, it's a basic Lorus Sports Lumibrite I have had it a fair number of years and it keeps great time. I have hear it called the Bic biro of watches, I.e. cheap but it's great. The strap is 1786 Metta Catharina leather so in a totally different league.
Nicely done Harry, good to see you back in the workshop !
What type of rotary cutter is that please, is it a 45mm blade ?
Hi Andy yes it's a 45mm Dafa cutter.
@@harryrogers THANKS HARRY
Are those Teflon rulers?
Hi they are rubber backed and have a square raised front edge and are made by Linex and described as a Cutting Rule....I hope that helps.
@@harryrogers thanks! I have acrylic rulers and all have nicks where my rotary cutter has caught the edge rode upon 😱😡.
😅Welcome black Harry even with à kilt.
where is your web site
I had to close it.
@@harryrogers I have had one of your belts for too many years now to remember, but I have wore it every single day going to work still going strong
@@Finlock-makes That's great to hear...thanks
The shout out for Pittards may not go far, as they went bust a couple of months ago.
Oh that's a real shame
