The Old House

In the midst of the Great depression Bill and Mamie Dahlgren moved into this chicken coop with their 4 boys. They left their rented house in Jamestown to live on their property in Busti. Bill had been told all you needed was a small farm a few cows and you could raise a family. Water came from a dug well and they used an outhouse for most of those years. In the fifties Bill and his younger boys began to build a home on the property but became sick and was unable to finish it before he passed. All told Mamie lived in this house for over 35 years. In 1975 she told her son Henry "either you boys finish this house or I'm moving in with you." I made this quick run through before the house was torn down. Unfortunately my phone ran out of space.
