    Dream was one of the fastest growing youtubers last year. This year though, his minecraft videos are even better. Let’s look at the tactics he has used to grow to 27 million views per video. Dream really is a genius.

    Video notes
    Every now and again, someone comes around that completely takes youtube by storm. And last year that guy was dream, in 2020 his minecraft speed runs hit view counts never before seen in gaming. I mean, 96 million views on a minecraft video?
    But we need to talk about something first, why does Dream seem to put such little effort into his thumbnails? I mean he’s used this thumbnail or some slight variation of it 8 times in the last year. That’s half of his uploads.
    But what he does with his editing is even more impressive, which takes us on to part 2. Dream has become the watch time king. So by now we know that watch time is very important for the algorithm, it’s basically youtube’s way of telling whether a video is good or not.
    but ..there’s still a ONE vital piece missing, you might think nailing thumbnails and having good videos is the key to youtube, but we haven’t touched on the one thing that I believe sets dream apart
    My name is paddy Galloway and I hope you enjoyed this video!
    #dream

    3:21 the fact that dream increased the colour saturation of his avatar is genius. As an artist, this is a basic composition technique. The colour contrast makes u focus at the bright part first before looking at the less saturated parts of the image. The focal point grabs your initial attention

    • @TheMGMG
      @TheMGMG 2 роки тому

      Which color else take your focus except green?

    • @AquariusBruh
      @AquariusBruh 2 роки тому +5

      @@TheMGMG What I mean is that Dream is the first thing that grabs someones focus, but that doesn’t mean that the background is irrelevant. I should have worded it better, but the whole purpose was to immediately grab someone’s attention (the familiarity of Dream) before they can examine what’s happening in the whole image. That might not be the case for everyone tho.
      This is the same principle for art. When someone looks at a painting, a part of an image is what grabs their attention first before they look elsewhere in the image

    Yo hope you see this or already know this but from my experience with machine learning that outlier graph you showed describes k-map clustering. Basically over time UA-cam has probably switched the algorithm to go from a deterministic algorithm to a probabilistic algorithm where it’s able to sort quality videos from quantity videos based on analyzing ever stat they can pull from a video and it’s channel and grouping them into clusters which lets the recommendation algorithm push users towards the clusters that it predicts they will like based on the stats from their account

    This video seems to be an anomaly in your recent videos. It has the lowest views. I actually really enjoyed it. You mention in one of your videos that trying different thumbnails or different titles to get the click could have a better effect. I have a suggestion. The word "Averages", although correct, for me it takes a lot of syllables to say (in my head even). I wonder what would happen if you replaced that with "Gets"? or switched up the title? I just want to see if that actually works because I think this vid has some untapped potential.
