S54 Swapped E36 M3 Gets Turner Motorsports CSL Instake! M3 Intake Install

- Today I'm installing the Turner Motorsport CSL intake on my S54 swapped E36 M3. If you have an E46 M3, this install will be much easier than it was for me. I had a few issues with my custom oil cooler lines that were getting in the way of my ICV hose. Besides that, it was a very straight forward install. Once I get my interior back, I'll be able to take this thing on a proper first drive!

Just picked up a z4m coupe with s54 and cant wait to get this intake! Currently getting all the fun maintenance knocked out first so might be a few months but keep up the great videos!

Glad to see you still have the car. Theirs one in my area in SoCal 95 Daytona violet with the s54 swap fully done interior. He’s asking $13k obo. No bites though he’s had it up for 4 months now. Pandemic slowed things down though too.

This came up today. Nice! Couple of thoughts.
With Alpha N the clamps aren't necessary as no air is being measure on the intake side.
On the Mason bar, @18:10 if there is any clearance left at all you can shim the shock tower studs to raise the brace just slightly to keep the rubbing to a minimum. Jam nuts work great.
Yo! My bad on the delay bro! Yup, correct with AlphaN. As for the Mason bar, I did have it shimmed, I actually used some spacers that came with a Recaro seat I bought, lol! It still was BARELY touching the airbox but the bigger issue was it started to hit the hood when it was closed. From my experience, there's really no way to allow the Mason bar to work with my current setup without it hitting something. Still a great piece though!
@@jpetro Ha, No worries. Nice looking car. It would kill me to have that beautiful piece from Turner and know I have to live with scratching it. Good news for me is I only drive a track rat and I always park next to the biggest POS (other than mine) at the track to make it look better. When I fuel it I double it's value!
Great vid! Was looking at Turner's airbox for my e46. Does it look like the turner decal is applied on top of the clear and easy to take off? Can't wait for the driving impression. 🤙

What you use for cap the hole on the intake. Where you ordre that? 8:34
I would see if DMG could maybe make you a custom strut bar.
I'll look into that! I was thinking about buying Bimmerworld's engine mounts. They sit slightly lower that factory mounts.
J Petro hope that fixes the issue but remember than the ones that it has might already be compressed so it might end up being the same height.
Any problems with state inspection in Texas?

Man, I tried spacers but that made the strut bar hit the hood. Hahahaha...everyone says that! I don't know why?!
@@jpetro I just picked up a LSB E46 M3 Vert and I’m thinking about that intake. Did you get it tuned in Austin? If so where?
Ooh nice, congrats! So, the first time I ran Alpha'N and Roman from Boost Logic tuned it. However, he's now in Dallas and runs the shop, Art Of Assembly. If you run a MAP, you can run a CSL tune, which is what I'm running currently.

@@jpetro or you can just put spacer under strut tower brace.
Bohuslav Kovář Yeah, I was actually thinking about doing that! I wonder how much room I can raise the strut tower brace before it hits the underside of the hood?
@@jpetro Id put some plasticine on ribs of bonnet or on strut brace where the bonnet sits and measure that. Btw. Dream car looks amazing.

Balint Katona With the old airbox running AlphaN, it was 311 WHP and 260 WTQ. I’ll need to get it redyno’d now that I have a diff airbox and CSL tune. 👍
How was the clearance to the strut tower?
Not great. The Mason Engineering bar barely touched. I have since switched to an LTW style strut tower bar.
Thanks. What about actual distance horizontally between the box and strut tower? I know the e46 strut towers are wider apart than the e36
@@thedeane30 Oooh, yes, good point. It was very...very close to the E36 strut tower. The closest piece I would say was the "horn" piece to the strut tower/wheel well.

@@thedeane30 I'll do you one better...I have a video about this that I just got done filming :) I have about 4 vids I've filmed that I'm trying to edit/schedule. I had to trim the horn piece of the intake due to it hitting the underside of my hood.
This was a teaser video. Was expecting to see some Dyno numbers. 😔

Crazy, right?! And to think, it's not even close to the most expensive option. Apparently the aftermarket intake options for the E92 are closer to $3k too. Probably won't be doing one of those, lol.
