I came to this video to learn about the VIOFO WM1 yet the first two minutes of the video are about something else! What a great way to loose peoples interest in your videos.
Unless this has been changed, it’s important to note that when connecting your phone to the camera wirelessly with the app, the only way to get the live view to show is to turn off your cellular data when connected to the Viofo WiFi.
Great advice Tony! This is definitely not always the case with all users, but there can be this issue with certain phones. The need to switch to airplane mode indicates that there's something with your phone that's preventing that live-view connection, which airplane mode is disabling. For example, if you have an iphone with smart network switch, disabling that is a suitable alternative. Or as Tstyle noted, if you have a VPN on, then this will interfere with the live-view too, so turn that off.
When I set the dashcam to record 1-minute-files and I press the manual lock button 30 seconds after the recording started, will the dashcam still keep recording the other 30 seconds to the protected file? Or will the dashcam only protect the first 30 seconds till the button is pressed?
No problem! The adhesive of the camera is stuck to a small plastic mount for the unit, so you can easily slide the camera off and use it in another vehicle, with another small adhesive mount. The wifi of the camera is built-in to the unit. Even when you are in places where there is no wifi signal, the camera will still give off a wifi connection. This is because the connection is not a true wifi connection, and will not allow you to say, connect to the internet or watch movies. Instead, this wifi network is purely used for connecting to the camera, changing settings, and viewing footage.
The VIOFO WM1 dash cam has been discontinued, but we have a similar model available-the A119 Mini 2. If you're interested in a dash cam like the WM1, the A119 Mini 2 is a great alternative. @@blackboxmycar Do you have any insight into why the WM1 is being discontinued after only a little over a year after being released? Like is there a WM2 model coming out soon? Or it just didn't sell well? Or there are some inherent issues with this dashcam that Viofo decided they can't address?
@@dcccs I don't have specific details about the reasons for its discontinuation, it's not uncommon for manufacturers to update their product lines to introduce newer models with improved features or to address market demands.
Yes, the VIOFO WM1 is still using the IMX335 image sensor same as the A119 V3. Still, the WM1 does have newer software to result in better image quality.

Thanks, I was wondering what angles were possible with the mount, and you actually showed it!
Glad it was helpful 😊! Hands-on is always best with these things.

you have an option called ''open vpn'' so you don't have to do that
@@Tstyle16 where is this option? Never noticed it before!

previous - current - next files they all will be protected after lock button
A couple of questions if I may, once it's on how easy is it to remove to use on another vehicle?
Where does it get the WiFi signal from?

@@blackboxmycar so can I purchase more adhesive mounts for this model?
Would it be possible to mount and use this as a Rear camera? As i wish to leave my existing A119 untouched in the front
Yes, that would be possible. It would need it's own wiring, sd card, and so on, but it is possible
Is this WM1 dashcam discontinued? Don't see it listed on your web site.

Which one would you recommend - this one or VIOFO A119 Mini 2?
The A119 Mini 2 is currently giving us better image quality with Sony Starvis 2 image sensors.
@@blackboxmycar Thank you! Santa will be bringin' A119 Mini 2 then.
Enjoy the camera and happy holidays!@@boo-fb1dk
@@blackboxmycar No, I'm Santa in this scenario 😁 so someone else (hopefully) will enjoy it.

does it have same sensor as A119?
Yes, the VIOFO WM1 is still using the IMX335 image sensor same as the A119 V3. Still, the WM1 does have newer software to result in better image quality.
