When we got certified to weld SMAW through D1.5 we took a test in the 2F postion with 2 flat plates. That were 1" thick. 2 root passes running 7018. Then fill it up. Then it got sent out for xray and the bend test. It was a 5" long plate they needed 3" of clean weld. If you had an inclusion in the weld it was likely where the starts and stops were.
Bro didn't even gap the root, why are you triggering it like that?? You don't know anything about welding besides how to turn the machine on and attach a ground apparently
How to make an okay looking weld with absolutely no penetration, you should be able to turn that plate around and see your weld on the back, the way this was welded you definitely wouldn’t be able to do that meaning your weld didn’t penetrate the entire joint making it weak, hopefully this makes sense to non welders interested in starting.
Why does every stick welding tutorial on the internet have some goof shit feathering the rod like that? It’s a goobered mess. It’s people like this that scare me because they’re the ones building roller coasters and fair equipment. And then they go around teaching people the “correct” way like they’re some kind of mister miyagi of the welding world.
No 1/8 gap or a 6010 root pass? And I've never seen anyone do a tap method until on youtube and Facebook reels, so is that a good thing to do nowadays or no??
If it's just a home project 6013 rod will work just fine, no problem..But if it's hi-strength, structural steel (AWS D1.1) E-7018 and if Alloy steel now you have to change rod's, E-8018,E-9018 and E-10018.
PLEASE, THOSE WHO ARE AGAINST THIS TYPE OF "TACK" WELDING, MAKE A VIDEO WHERE YOU PROVE THE LACK OF FORCE OR DEFFICIENCIES OF THESE TYPES OF JOINTS VERSUS THE "RIGHT WAY". **Sorry for the caps, it's just that I'm tired of seeing the negative comments but I have not seen any disprove of this method yet. I'm not for or against this method, I'm neutral, I just want o learn.
You all do realize that the whole purpose of these types of videos is to do it wrong. That way the comments about how wrong it is flow in and the video get more engagement in the comment section filled with people just like you.
While making welding pls put a safety glass infront of camera the weld flame is so powerful even it causes some effect on viewers eyes watching through youtubr
That effect is in your mind. Your screen isn’t bright enough to make any difference. Unless you have a particular form of epilepsy, in which case you should probably stop driving and go see a doctor.
These videos should be ignored. They’re put on here for engagement and rage bait from people who are familiar with basic enough welding knowledge to know that this is nowhere near correct. The more you comment the more they’ll post.
You don't start and stop like that, instead you lay down a complete bead in one go. Stopping and starting like that is highly likely to leave slag inside the weld since it doesn't get a chance to float to the top of the weld puddle. Slag is weak, steel is strong. Any slag in the weld is weakness in the weld. If you do need to stop and start, you clean off the slag before restarting to make sure you don't weld over it and end up with it inside the weld. Avoiding slag inclusions is one of the things that makes stick welding tricky compared to e.g. MIG welding.
I would have left a nickel edge gape & put a1/8" E-6010 bead & hot pass. Then filled & capped with 1/8" E-7018 rods. You did not show 100 percent penetration on the root!
Amateur. Not professional. Why dih he spotted the first layer. No bourning through the other Side. Thats Dangerous to show other amateurs as a semi profi at UA-cam
Just how is that the correct flippin' technique??? Nice thick metal is a joy to weld even for an amateur, so weld it, not tickle it! A waste of some half decent prep work! Now fix it with a good hot bead on the other side. Job done.
Terrible though with stick, the "dig" or penetration of the weld into the base material comes amp going consistently not stoping and in trapping cold/slag/incombusted hydrogen etc
WHY DOES EVERYONE ON UA-cam DO THE DAMN TAP WELD. THATS NOT HOW YOU WELD.
Because they have not been to college and shown. Because they are experts lol
To troll people that know how to weld. to get a reaction out of us. to get views to get likes or dislikes
I know drives me up a freaking wall!
Tap welding bad practice but it came good. BUT HOW IS THE PENETRATION?
Отличная работа

Yeah every time you stop and start is a good place for a slag inclusion
@CalebMay-bf1ci yes sir it is. Most tests when they take your best 3" it is always in the middle not near the ends.
This is absolutely the furthest thing from "correct" ive seen 😂 but it looks strong enough from the outside
that is 1G or flat position groove not 1F or flat position fillet
Each of those flashes, I've seen universe.
No root gap
indeed, this is not welded through the full thickness of the plates
@@Kermit306TCI And using 6013 is not good
@@frankenstone804 does he say its 6013 or does the video show it? It looks like 7018 or another excalibur type to me.
@frankenstone804 it all depends on what the piece that got welded is going to be used for. So 6013 rod is just fine.
@1nfamyX Judge by the way it's welding, go by looks, I'd say it's E-6013.
Wrong! You're fired!
And this is why I stay away from traveling amusement park rides😂
This type of welding can easily be trampled by some soft pressures due to the lack of root gap which makes the weld solid strong
False
1F

1g position

NO...!! Asi no se aplica la doldadura....eso demuestra k aprendio en un taller y NO en la escuela...😠😠😠😠
No root gap and stacking dimes like that isn't good.
If Im learning and my weldings are shit, could I practice with tap welding justo to improve or I should still go with half moons?
This is not 1F my friends this is 1G
Para mi que es 16W., tirando para 14X.
@GooopentuOrdonez soldadura de filete en sobre superficie a nivel horizontal-vertical es 1G. No se de que me hablas de 16w 14x

Well so much for my eyesight
We didn't see the other side of the plate for a reason, ain't no way your getting a full pen butt joint welding like that.
This dude doesn’t know how to weld
Add a root opening and you will be on track to doing a real full penetration weld. You are judged on the root as well as the cap
I didnt know there were many professional welders in the comments 😂😂
This is not 1f. It's 1g
This isn’t even 1F. 1F is a flat fillet weld. This right here is 1G.

hi, a hobby welder here, is there a videos showing how its correctly done this scenario, i am not a pro nor attended weld school.
Nice for me as a beginner ❤

Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't that cause incomplete fusion? (I'm serious by the way will that cause incomplete fusion?)

If you want you could put your Tongue on the weld that way you'll know how hot it is.

Looks good at the end but is absolutely awful, has the strength of a wet paper bag.
This could have been done in 1 single bead instead of tapping it the first time like a amateur
Toyota welding
That’s a fail in the weld text book. Look up the word open root pass and then learn how to actually weld like a pipe liner
