Thanks for the shoutout, dude! Hope you enjoy the beers!
Modern gear is so amazing. I remember, after hiking 12 days with climbing gear and no food left, my pack weighed 79 LBS. Climbing in the Minarets was cancelled because of heavy snow. Packs were 3-6 LBS, tents 7-8 LBS, giant mountaineering boots weighed a ton. Still, we had a great time.
Things get heavy when you have to pack for all 4 seasons! It can get so hairy in the Rockies so fast you just have to be ready for anything. I learned everything I know about backpacking in the Rockies and have had to unlearn some of them on the east coast. Hiking after 1pm and not being in a rainstorm seems so alien to me.
Heading out to do the first 6 segments of the colorado trail this weekend 🥰 The rain this year does seem excessive… but fantastic for water ❤️
Love your informative and funny, down to earth honest vids!
Hey Now Bryce. My son and I are thru hiking the Ohio Towpath in two weeks. Thanks for the informative videos. Have a great hike.
I've found mcflurry spoons have the best strength to weight ratio for plastic spoons. I put a little tape on the side hole to stop liquids getting in there
My Town Shirt sun hoodie is in transit. Thank you for divulging the information on a previous video. Since I live in Texas, I’m pumped about getting mine.
Great list bryce. Thanks for the vid.
So instead of the patch - there's this stuff we used in Colorado (Ironically) called Apothacanna which is like this pain relieving cream that smells really good. It does the trick. Little bottle of that, cures what ails you - especially with sore muscles and all the little nicks and cuts one gets on the trail. Great video. Subscribed.
I can’t believe that porcupine! 😂 I like the post trip gear load out + review.
You can get the dyneema or ultra food bag and hanging rock bag from hilltop packs
Excellent loadout silly added suggestion but for your water bottle scoop try a Capri Sun pouch it packs flat and is nice and..... QUIET 🤫 😆✌️💚✊️🔥
Good idea…. or an old 16oz Sawyer bag cut in half.
That’s actually an awesome idea
Mind blown 🤯
Hey Bryce! How did you store your food above tree line? Even below tree-line in Colorado, I have trouble finding a suitable branch for a PCT hang or even trees spaced enough for a double-tree hang. I actually had a bag get stuck in a tree this past weekend and had to notify the park rangers as a result...
Bryce, I have the same Montbell jacket and honestly just use it for a back up in my running pack. For windy days and lite rain…What are your thoughts on using it under a pack for hiking any
issues “ durability”Thanks in advance….
Best backcountry alcohol is Tang concentrate in the squirt bottle and 151.
Alcoholics always say they're not an alcoholic! Cheers!🍻
Those lined latex gloves look really nice. I don’t see them on your gear listing. Do you have a link or know makes them???
You have a great approach about your videos that always make me laugh and smile when they are over.
Yo. That’s a dope sun hoodie!
My sawyer crapped out on me last week too. I should have brought the plunger. I cleaned it with the plunger the week before I left, but it stopped working again on the trail. I ordered the BeFree when I got home lol
I'm too lazy to look in the comments for this. But instead of taking the Sawyer plunger for back flushing the filter. The sports cap on your LifeWater bottle should go over the clean end securely enough to use one of your water bottles to back flush.
How much and how often you drink combined with your mood when you don’t drink is a more accurate way to determine if you have an alcohol issue
Alcoholics go to meetings, I go to parties 🎉
Curious, Bryce, if you would pack this lightly if you were, say, going to be out on the trail for 12-14 days without any resupply except for food (every 3 days) and water. No stopovers . No electricity. No cellular. (You'd usually be within 4-8 hours of being able to get to "help" in the form of someone who could call out for it using a radio.) Average elevation 8000 feet. Variable terrain. Temps ranging from 45-50 on the low side overnight to 80+ during the day. Thundershowers always possible.
Oh yeah, McFlurry spoon! 🥰
My man, so like your videos. Thanks
The Sawyer backflush thing is not needed, the tops that you hate fit right on the backflush tap of the filter. Check it out bro save an once. LOL thanks again for the wonderful videos
👍.
Hope to see you in the Adirondacks someday… maybe Fall time.?
Tim Johnson Shout Out to fellow Minnesnowtan! ☃️
PD Carbon Fiber Tripod. You'll love it. Especially since you UA-cam. Why the switch from hyperlite to liteaf? I'm deciding what ultralight bag to pick up
its 3lbs though. thats not light enough for me wish they'd make a smaller 2lb version. i use a mefoto "frankenstein" tripod and its about 2lb but a bit too low in height. I switched because liteAF send me free stuf... haha... true but also i do in fact like it better... better straps, the body of the pack is slimmer yet taller, pockets are better... i could go on for days.
8 lbs. for food seems kind of heavy. Have you considered doing some IF (intermittent fasting) or not so many heavy weight snacks? It's just a thought but I was thinking about doing that next week and not taking so much food to keep the pack weight down.
So many stuff sacks!
Id agree that you had a pretty tight setup. A bear can would have made you make adjustments.. that tripod is the target....i dont know if it can sweat but i would. Gotta be many more options. And who if not you are gonna get the schill bros minds right about these chairs. Say no..5 lbs ready to dump. Man thants tempting
I spent 9 nights on the CT last year and have had no issues with that sleeping pad. I have that exact one. Leaving on Aug 27th to continue on the CT starting at sec 7. I've probably spent 20 nights or more with no issues at all. I'm a warm sleeper so even though it got down to the mid 30's I didn't get cold. I was cold because the acclimation the first night on sec 1 but that had zero to do with the pad. You probably know what I'm talking about.
You should def consider going mirrorless for your camera. A full frame Sony or even Nikon weigh a lot less than a DSLR. You'd need an extra battery but still lighter and they take better videos
Come to Spain if you want to taste good beers💪
“So for water” 😂😂😂😂
Quick tip for your sawyer, trash your syringe and use your smart water bottle to back flush. It fits perfect! #Blessed
It's multi purpose and weighs absolutely nothing...
Nice try. Lol
bringing hot beers on trail, but not an alcoholic... right.... lol
Beers, lol!
Do you have a link for that Sun hoodie?

I am curious what that tripod is called. I am in the market for an ultra light but tall tripod. I use the Pedco v3 but its not tall enough for nice wide landscape shots. I also cant afford a 350 dollar Peak design travel tripod either. Just curious. Thanks!
Check out the Aoka carbon fiber tripods on Amazon. Mine is roughly a pound and fully extending with the included extended riser stands about 5’ tall. Packed it’s probably 14” in overall length and was right around $100 if I remember correctly.
Super pleased with it. I only use it for phone photography but it comes with a panning attachment for landscape shots.
Just searched, it’s the AOKA 28”/1.1 lb Lightweight Compact Carbon Fiber Tripod (that’s a mouthful)
Currently 89.99 and there’s a 10% off coupon you can apply as well.
How about a portable electric fence for bear country? 2.4 lbs is the lightest
I live in the Canadian Rockies and I take a 44 magnum . Works even better
wow! do you still get the plastic spoons in your mcflurries?
In Denmark we get wooden spoons now, and my days with icecream from mcdonalds is over.... I literally can't eat an icecream with a wooden spoon - i get goosebumps everywhere and it always ends with me not even being able to even open my mouth...
I actually started carrying a folding titanium spoon in my purse because I like grabbing a yoghurt etc on the go. Might be an option for you too 😊
The way you are distributing the weight on your pack and your pack may be an issue. I barely notice a 30 lb load, even at altitude, but I've carried 100+ packs 20+ miles in a day, past 10,000 elevation up an back down, (though my feet were killing me because I got boots literally the day before, and this is when boots had to be broken in)
A pack that fits well and distributes weight well lets you carry much more weight comfortably because it's not requiring you to use core strength to keep the bag stable, the bag does that work.
I see a number of ultra-light backpackers. who physically seem bothered by small weights, and what they all have in common is really lightweight backpacks.
Hey there, was wondering if you happened to have a favorite backpack you'd suggest.. would be interested in a different setup, if you have any packs and/or gear in mind.!
Bought those same shorts last year, and I agree they work well
Are they lined?
@@nedanother9382 yes they have a mesh liner, and a security pocket in the front on the waistband.
“Im not an alcoholic” - All alcoholics
14:05 12 oz is not a pound
I love old shirts. I ware my shirts till they are Swiss cheese.
TOGGY DUKES shorts
16oz = 1 pound and 1 liter of water = 2.2 pounds
“Maybe you should go purify yourself in the waters of lake Minnetonka”
-Chapelle,
North face, does not support oil companies, so no Forth face items in my pack
Good thing you never did military backpacking you think your hip hurts weapons and ammo outweigh everything you had without other stuff.
Lost me at the sponsor shpeeal
I assume you won't be collecting a paycheck on Friday then. Since u think ppl work for free
Head, eyebrow and beard hair have weight..
Closed the video after talking about "beers" constantly.....
$200 for a sleeping pad 🙅🏽♀️
i know right...
Stopped watching at "beer" and unsubscribed too 👍
Thanks
3 million views. First comment offended by beer.
@@BryceNewbold Don't worry, I created a second account and subbed, so I'm subbed twice to make up the difference!!
If you drink alcohol once a week, you're probably an alcoholic.😅 I drink alcohol once every three to four months. 😊 bring on the hate😂
hey ronald hope your doing well
In video ad is an automatic thumbs down 👎
Yes you keep saying that. I expect that you do not accept pay for your job then?
Soon as you mentioned beer, I left your video bro and I’ll watch people get drunk on UA-cam. Specially, with my little kids sit beside me.
Soon as you mentioned your experience I immediately wanted to know which one 625 genders you are and which bathroom you use. I'm also wondering if your hair is dyed pink, blue or green because we know you have one of them. Worried about their kids seeing a beer but you're probably okay with Biden sniffing your kids hair.
