    Thats the best feeling when the plane takes off and you get that sense of relief that this will be a piece of cake!

    Just watched this video again and will be ordering this for my son who enjoys slow and low park flying. As always very informative Tim, I was wondering if you would consider building the Guillow's Spirit of St Louis kit, or leave me a comment on what you would expect this model to fly like as an electric. Thanks for taking the care you put in all of your Videos, I'm a huge fan.

      Don: Thanks for checking in! You’ll like the Quick Oats a lot. Spirit of St. Louis is on the build list. The Spirit should fly like a trainer with its big constant chord wing. Tim

    Love, the build, disappointed that you didn’t show the application of the poly coat

    Another great plane and build video! Is there a substitute motor that you can recommend as the SA Sport Park BL250 is hard to find even on StevenAero site? Thanks for sharing!

      Not sure on a small motor recommendation. There are so many out there and they seem to change a lot. Oftentimes ParkZone e-Flite has a nice chart of their motors. I've also had good luck with a basic Google search.

    I'm currently building a Playboy Senior 36 inch span and I was curious if I could lessen the dihedral a little because I have electrified this old free flight aircraft. Where I will have a rudder for control I thought I would be able to do this without losing stability. Great video, I have been eying those Steven's kits so its nice to see one up close. Thanks for your help

      Chip, Should be no issue with decreasing dihedral, as your model will be RC and not a free flight gasser. Tim

    Can you show a more detailed picture of where you put the ESC, battery etc?

      It will depend a lot on what equipment you are using. I try and keep it as far forward as I can for CG reasons. Tim

    Not sure why but I cannot find anyone that stocks the monocote irons.

      You have to hunt around. At your local RC field I am sure someone has an extra. eBay and Google second options. Also see www.TowerHobbies.com Tim

    Awesome!! Tim, I was wondering what the exact rational is for the lite plastic coat, versus tissue and dope. For Most rubber powered builds, people stick with the paper (perhaps it’s a tad lighter? Or maybe just to stay traditional?) but almost all rc builds/conversions I see use the lite plastic covering. Is this due to higher forces from rc electric flight or something? Thanks in advance! (I know you have other vids on the subject, was just wondering)

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  Рік тому

      The “lite” iron-on coverings are just so light weight and easy to apply a lot of modelers, such as me, go with them. I’d guess they are about the same weight as tissue. Dealer’s choice! Tim

      @@TimMcKay56 much appreciate the response. That’s fair reasoning! I guess I will give both a shot! I love how the tissue looks on the balsa, but I also like how plastic holds up when landing in dry sharp grass and twigs. Much to consider…
