Love your take on self care - not solely about physique, losing weight etc but to look and feel well generally, that does make a difference, 'aura' levelling up style
I agree, it goes both ways too. I started back at the gym after a few years out (also not tracking calories) during the pandemic. I've gone from a 38, to 42 inch chest in the last two years and have realised I don't really suit the extra weight and it kinda limits me on the styles of clothing I like to wear.
It’s so nice to watch men’s style videos where I’m not being yelled at or being told things that are completely obvious or told to wear a bunch of neutrals and khakis. ❤❤❤❤
Season color analysis is rarely talked about in men style circles, but widely talked about in women's style and make up circles. It has helped me pick colors that suit my skintone, hair and eyes. Matching colors is not just about colors that work together, but also about finding the colors that fits you personally. Me, being categorized as true spring, looks bad in too dark, too cool and muted colors, and better in warm, bright and lighter colors.
@@JamesLeung Agreed. My personal style philosophy is to wear basically the same fit every day (pants, t shirt, overshirt), with overshirts being my "statement piece" that I have in different colors, patterns and fabrics.
Big Slim Skin is a game-changer! Something I'd been unconsciously rewarding in my fits recently. I.E. the Uniqlo pleated wide leg pants, a fitted ribbed t shirt tucked in! As soon as you through an oversized jacket on though, it throws off the proportions and feel! Thanks for this, James :)
It's a fake rick owens quote but it motivates me when it comes to self-care: "Working out is modern couture. No outfit is going to make you look or feel as good as having a fit body. Buy less clothing and go to the gym instead."
Loved what you said about the "good clothes," for me it is something from childhood that there's this separation but the reality is why not look my best all the time. I do tend to shop that way as well and probably a lot of other people too. I just know if something I buy is something I would wear to work our just out or not. Over time I think I'll transition into only having the nicer pieces.
Great tips as always! One of my favorite tactics to keep things interesting is to pick a key piece for the day and then make sure I pair it with at least one item it has never been previously worn out of the house with. Sometimes I try for pairings that might not quite work on paper, but have some synergy on the body. Recently, it has been mostly contrasting weights and textures since we're in that brief moment when winter and warm weather clothes can make sense together. Sometimes it is a miss and I revert back to an easier option, but when you end up with a winner you hadn't considered it can feel really good. Especially since it is "new" without requiring a purchase.
Hey James I just want to let you know that I think you have one of if not the best style I’ve ever seen , I really appreciate your channel and content thanks!
As a kind of add-on to knowing your measurements, I measure e.g. pit-to-pit, and length of what I think of as my best-fitting garments, and use these to compare against measurements given on retailers' websites. This method takes proportions into account, I mean, if you're choosing something oversized and/or boxy, as an example.
Great video as always. Another point for me is how to keep clothes in good shape, e.g. wash in cold water, don’t use a dryer (unless you want to shrink a garment) and a lint roller to keep dark clothes free of fur, as I have two cats!
Great tips! My biggest issue is that I don't have many occasions to wear everything I want to wear. I like my style and people I meet think I dress well but I want to wear it more often. Work -> Home -> Gym/Running -> Home is on repeat so the clothes just wasting time in the dresser..
I admit I am chained to this ritual of Office - Home - Gym as well, but I try to dress well on the very rare occasions when I see friends or even on mundane errands like going to the local grocery store to get milk. It's fun to be one of the few stylish people at the grocery store not in athleisure wear, haha
Found your and also Harry Has' channels recently. And you 2 are my 2 fave fashion channels. I like that you have great advice and don't try to shame people into doing as you do. Also it's great that you're a fashion channel that actually focuses on fashion. Too many of the big names like Alex Costa, Teachingmensfashion, and Alpha M have all gotten away from fashion and turned their channel more into a lifestyle channel.
I was doing the same thing, saving my good clothes for that special occasion , and meanwhile looking like crap when i was out in public, problem was, there was so few occasions to get dressed for, but now i wear my good stuff everyday ..
Been subscribed to you for years - back when you had long hair and were doing represent clothing pickups etc , your content is fantastic mate , you current style is so similar to mine it’s great . Love your vids man keep it it 🥰
One thing that really helped me feel A LOT better about my look was high-waisting my pants for the first time. I have a bit more of a gut than i would like and I always thought the waistline of my pants was supposed to only come up right underneath where my stomach was protruding. This made my torso look super long and my gut was way more emphasized when i tucked in my shirts and I just always thought that look wasn't meant for me I guess. But then one day I was trying on pants and brought them up to around near my bellybutton just to see how it looked and it was like something clicked. Pants started to finally fit the way it was meant to fit, shirts tucked in didn't look awkward and it was also really flattering too. It wasn't easy getting there though. I had to start being honest with myself about what my true pant size was. I was really stubborn about going up a few sizes to actually fit around my true waistline.
Wearing pants higher has been huge for me as well. It makes such a difference to the proportions of your outfit, it looks great! Glad you found your style man.
Hey James, have you ever tried out the brand Gramicci? They’ve got some cool looking pants but they’re a bit pricier. If you have any experience with them and can attest to their quality that would be great!

wearing your nicest pieces and not hoarding them away for the right occasion or not wanting to "ruin" them is something i have done , really back fired as well as i put on weight and some of them don't fit anymore so were completely wasted !

Nowadays I honestly don't buy anything unless the measurements are there and I can make sure it will fit very comfy or I can try it on in person. If the measurements aren't listed I just don't buy it. It helps slow down purchases
