Blancpain fifty fathoms the world’s first diver ever made and the most refined diver in todays market….it wears more like 42mm (it wears way way better than the SD43) …BEST OF THE BEST
The "Cadillac" of dive watches? At least a Bentley, right? Not that I'll ever own one ;) Great review, thanks.
On reflection, I'd say the Aston Martin of dive watches.
Best dive watch out there (I have been a Rolex collector but after seen this one in the metal, there is not contest) definitely- Aston Martin :p
In the US Cadillac is historically ultra luxury.
This is a Diver Legend and for good reason! This watch has REAL "Soul" and is loaded with personality. It is Ferrari over Mercedez. I've had the Sea Dweller and the Fifty Fathoms. I sold off the boring utilitarian form of the Sea Dweller and kept the Fifty Fathoms as the only Haute Horology Diver in my collection and never thought twice about it. The Sea Dweller went towards an H Moser, so this was a major upgrade in the collection. Overall, you will rarely ever find anyone else with a Blancpain on the wrist compared to every Tom, Dick, and Harry who wears a sub. Follow your heart, follow the beauty, heck - even follow the science. This haute horology piece beat the Rolex Sub Mariner to market in 1953; this is the true first modern day dive watch ever built. Commissioned by the French Military, Cousteau wore this watch with great pride It was years before Blancpain's patent expired on the Unidirectional bezel and Rolex copied that onto their sub-mariner. You too can own a piece of history. Thank me later...
Beautiful! I wished they would make a GMT version just like they did with the "Triology" series. A red GMT hand gliding over that beautiful blue dial would look awesome!
What a great review! Liked and subscribed.
Thanks, and welcome to the channel!!

Very cool piece. Thanks Tim for sharing it with us.
+logwind Thank you, this was a real joy to experience. I think this very reference would be the Fifty Fathoms for me if I were to add an example to my collection.
Best,
Tim
The brushed case is nice.
awesome watch
+ultrasmilan81 We agree, this is a favorite of mine, too :-)
Best,
Tim
Too bad these things are huge , these are great pieces not to mention the first ever dive watches.
Stephen Murphy they should have made a model for people with smaller wrist at at 40mm
My grail watch, looks even better on that strap. Great review, thank you.
You're welcome! Keep watching!
Great review tim, as always. Big fan of the rolex submariner and deepsea but this always was a grail watch for me. Beautiful finishing, strap and incredible movement with massive power reserve.
Is the black dial version fully polished case and bracelet?
The case is fully polished. The bracelet has both polished and brushed links.
Beautiful dial
If they made it in Submariner dimensions then it would be a best seller….
Anyone else love it but hate the blancpain on the side ?
LiquidSm0ke, yes :)
Agreed - vulgar, shouty.
Atleast it's on the side of the case facing you, so less people will see it. But nevertheless I don't get why you'd put that on this otherwise great watch.
Oddly, I'm more offended by the date window disturbing that gorgeous dial.
