We use between scallions and white, yellow, red, onions over 3000 onions a year. Grow many of them. We cook everything from scratch and use onions as medicine as well in cough syrup ,tonic, and poultices.

Beautiful harvest, y'all! I'll have to give that a try this year. BTW - I know you're having trouble getting on the ground to plant things and I am, too. This year, I bought an all metal seedling transplanter and a PVC seeder from a company in Pennsylvania called Stand 'n Plant. Danny, I just planted nine 30' rows of tomato seedlings with the transplanter, and only had to get down on my knees once, and that was to thank the Lord with this wonderful tool! No more crawling on the ground, no body aches, and the best part, no more fire ant bites! The seeder is great for planting where you can't use a Hoss seeder, like planting to an existing trellis, but the best part is planting onion seedlings with it! It's just the right size. I planted my multiplying onions with it this year and it did a great job. This Fall I'm going to plant my onion seedlings with it.

Thanks Danny and Wanda! I think I would have left some onions in the ground too long if I hadn't watched your video. Ringing them has worked well for us this year for some larger onions. That and choosing the right day type for our zone. We can grow green onions year round here in zone 9b. I planted your Cherokee Tan pumpkins and they're up and running. Our western drought is severe but were trying to conserve water and bloom where we're planted .🕊

@@Emeraldwitch30 I totally understand! I really like evergreen bunching onions. I’m hoping my new Egyptian walking onions will take care of our onion needs. I honestly get confused with planting times and whether or not onions should be overwintered or not. lol. Happy growing to you!

    • @Emeraldwitch30

@@holisticheritagehomestead i have several areas of the Egyptian walking onions. They are super hardy at least in michigan and ive been pulling a few here and there to eat already.
I pickled the topsets last fall too. My family said they were pretty good.
So im going pickle more this year. A family friend put them in her martini and wanted more too lol.
A neighbor lady a few years ago gave me a packet of seed with Japanese writing and the English words of Tokyo negi and they are a bunching onion with whites that are about 3 inches long and get quite big around almost like a leek but I haven't ate too many as I didn't get that many seeds and I let them grow out for blooms and thos year I finally have a lot of seedlings. But big and mild and seem to really grow well in michigan too.
Lisbon white bunching onions do well too but we tend to eat them all and not get any for over wintering lol.
      You have a great day.

I save half my onions to eat fresh....w the greens. The greens have the most nutrition in the onion.

I still have sweet bell peppers in rainbow colors from my local farm stand. I can buy half bushel for less than $8 they freeze so nicely and I think I bought enough to last until this season.
I cant grow them as well as my farmer can so I buy their peppers and use the room for things I can grow. Lol
Their broccoli is better than mine too and so cheap that I also buy half bushel in season and freeze. All the money I save pays off in winter for sure.
I also dehydrate a lot of my onions and garlic about January as several varieties I grow won't keep through. Potatoes also get this treatment lol but knowing they are mine and how they grew sure makes them taste 😍 lovely lol

I like chopping up the onion greens for salad & soups & stews. I've also chopped a bunch & layered them in decorative bottles with garlic cloves & whole peppers, then topped the bottle off with a quality extra virgin olive oil. It's a delicious addition to your salad dressing & any other recipes you might want to use an infused oil for. Have a great day 😊.

That's who I learned to grow onions from too. Hollis and Nancy are great folks like y'all. That's I subscribed to both channels a long time ago.

Great video Mr.Danny and Mrs.Wanda! The famous Vidalia’s are grown with 800 lbs. of fertilizer per acre. Might be a problem next year?? BTW ole’ BG has bought some serious land around Vidalia.
