Seeing Eric one Sunday night in an empty club in 78’ at 16 set me on course for a life of music. I still play in bands because of him. The best.

@@DOKITT actually he was very melodic. The caboose maybe held 150- 200 people if that much. He was killer that evening. Place in Dallas was in medallion center if that means anything.. I have seen Eric many times that he did get aggressive but never obnoxious.. Sound clarity always number 1.

Possibly my favorite song on the album. Simple riff, but very catchy. Has a sort of JJ Cale kind of feel to it.
I love this guy. If I get bored of playing cords I think of how he pushes the limit and force myself to play finger twister on my fret board. He so fun to watch play.

Eric is just a class act. They asked him about Matteo Mancuso and he said “You mean the kid that plays…” and he starts trying to mimic Matteo’s pick hand and then said”I think he’s amazing,No one plays like that. He’s completely original”

Seeing Eric live is like being teleported to a good vibe dimension like no other. What comes out of his hands and into your ears in the live experience is smooth elixir for the soul.
Literally going to binge listen to this album when it comes out... also love that you've got Bill Maddox (R.I.P.) and Arielle on there - they're all phenomenal.

ive been looking for this for 15 years, the video on youtube disappeard years ago, it was a live gig outside he was playing an SG too. but never heard it anywhere since then. glad to have it back

He worked with everyone first rate. The sound he invented the well-known phase! The clear solos. His vocals are excellent. He is a giant and has no other people. I first saw him play in a small venue at Texas A&M in the early 80's. Followed him ever since.
Me, too. Eastgate Live was where I saw him. It was '85 or '86 for me, right after Tones was released. I still have a signed postcard from him on my mantle from then.
I was there too! You guys remember him doing Paperback Writer? And he played the most amazing version of Rock Me Baby, live at Monterrey. Unbelievable experience.
@@moonsgin3817 , yes, Paperback Writer was amazing. I recall Soulful Terrain was pretty smokin' that night, too. My buddy, Glen, booked some of the gigs at Eastgate and got me in to Eric's trailer before the show. Eric signed a guitar and a post card for me. I have no idea what happened to the guitar, but the post card is on my mantle!

I've been listening to Eric Johnson for over 30 years. I didn't think I would hear anything better than his cd's. But on 7/8/1997, I saw Eric and Steve Miller at Red Rocks. They both were great and even played a couple songs together.
