It just refuses to die. Great review & I agree with your review.👍
Just got this watch - and i am loving it. Not too large (7" wrist) but the main selling point for me was the large and easily legible readout. Ever since I started needing reading glasses, Ive eschewed a lot of my watches with either small faces or those with tiny digital readouts.
Ive had this watch for 9 years with no battery change. I don’t really use the sensors tho. It’s been a daily watch and it has taken a beating. One of my best purchases
I bought this SGW100B-3V in February of 2020 as part of my planning for all the exciting travelling I was going to be doing in 2020. A great beater watch with world time was going to come in handy for sure..... A few weeks later Canada was in full lockdown, and the future seemed bleak. I set the time, calibrated the compass, fiddled with the settings, wore it around my prison cell, er, uh I mean house for a few days, and then put it away, along with all my dreams of travel. In the spring of 2022, I actually was allowed to go camping, and I wore one of my favorite automatic watches with excellent lume. I woke up at 3 in the morning, and discovered that the lume on my watch only lasted a few hours. I had to turn on the light to see the time. That's when I remembered the Casio. I have been wearing it camping, on my motorcycle, and just around the house. Of course, once you get hooked on a Casio, you have to buy more.... right? So, the collecting has begun...
This thing works great as a tent clock/thermometer for camping. Makes a good travel digital watch as well. I also keep mine strapped to my pack as a backup when hiking. I picked up one of these second hand for cheap last year. After changing the battery and the spring bars because they rusted, and swapping the resin strap for nylon (more comfortable), it's become my daily beater. It's really legible and light and the light is great! World time, compass, timer, alarms! Love it!
I agree this is one of the “best” Casio’s out there (I’ve owned one for 8 years). However, I feel the colors they offer are kind of stuck in the early 2000’s. Casio, instead of making yet another 10 colors for the DW5600, give the SGW100 some love and update the colors, like a black bezel and ditch the blue-ish dial!
I bought this watch based on this video 3 months ago. I'm very happy with it. Haven't owned a Casio since I was in High School. G Shocks were just a little too large/heavy for me to wear. I wanted a watch that can "disappear" somewhat.
I literally bought this watch because of this video. Had no idea it existed and liked it so much that I decided to buy it. Sadly it wasn't as cheap in my country but the price wasn't a lot higher either. So far I absolutely love the looks of it. I couldn't find the nylon strap version and got the rubber strap but ordered an army green nylon. Thanks for the video Jory!
I bought the same green one as this last week. Loving it! I paid £44 for mine, paid for it last Wednesday at 16:00hrs GMT, The watch was despatched from Kentucky the same day and reached me, in a remote Northumberland village on the Friday morning. Great piece, even greater service from Amazon. My other "It's not a G-Shock but..." favourite among my 30+ Casios is the DW290, as seen (apparently) in a well known movie franchise. It too is a 200m water resistance rated piece, only its absence of a protective raised boundary around the crystal sets it apart from the G-Shock family. I find the nylon strap on the new watch to be extremely comfortable on my 5⅜" wrist, especially after its first time in the shower, which demonstrated that the strap dries out nigh on instantly and keeps its shape. Highly recommended for any watch collector with similarly eclectic taste.👍👍👍👍👍
I literally just got this exact watch a week ago, crazy it shows up on your channel, considering the lack of reviews on UA-cam. This is THE field watch in my opinion. Excellent back-light and the twin sensor is incredibly useful while camping/hiking. Incredibly inexpensive and tremendous value.
Another gem is the WS-210-H, at 30 dollars with tough solar, its an amazing bargain. I've had the WS-200-H for 8 years, the only difference is the 200 has lap memory while the 210 has tide graphs.
Yeah, I was choosing between the 210 tide graph, 220 lap memory, and twin sensor here. Chose the lap memory in the end for solar and enough bezel to discourage scratches. I've seen people with really scratched up 200 or 210 units.
@@andrewthompson1485 basically, its give you an estimate of the tide level, high tide low tide etc depending on the area you set it up to keep track of.
Sorry if someone already mentioned this: I followed the link and bought the watch. It's not green and doesn't have a nylon band as I discovered when I opened the box. It's black and matte silver with the typical CASIO resin strap. And that's still fine. LOVE the huge display and backlight. Although it is massive on my small wrist it is very light and comfortable.
Hey there I have the SGW100-1V bought it because I do a lot of outdoor actives such as hiking and canoeing . very durable especially with 200m water resistant's and twin sensors work pretty good as long as you calibrate the compass correctly and take it off your wrist when checking temperature. Being a Casio fan boy great to see this one on your review. Thanks
I really like the ProTrek series watches. Very affordable and loaded with features. The only advantage of the G-Shock would be the "drop-test". ProTrek certainly not as rugged for hardcore adventures, but for everyday use, they're great.
Ah yes! Casios, a never ending mine for watch collectors to dig into. Started as a rabbit hole, and could easily expand into a full on doomsday bunker.
I've been collecting watches for a few years and wanted nothing to do with digital (I had 2 analog Casios) and thought G-shocks were too huge. I was bored and started looking into analog G-Shocks. I then decided if I'm really going to do this...go digital. I'd heard that it's easy to start accumulating these watches. I scoffed at that. Two weeks later and I have 8. Not sure if that says something about Casio or me?
@@evansmoak7182 I know right? I even have several colour variants of the same model, much to my wife's grief. I also more an analog watch user myself, until one day on a trip, my watch got lost and I decide to buy a Casio ae 1300, at $20 or so. It's black with gaudy pink writings. But I love it. Later found that these models have a lot colour variants, and there is where Casio kick-started my addiction.
I bought the other varient with resin strap like 10 years ago and used it for a long time. Finding aftermarket straps was a bit difficult due to the notch. But still it is a very very very good watch.
@@kenshi3vers The compass is reliable, the thermometer not so much if you wear the watch. The illumination lasts for a few seconds. I'm not sure you can setup something in the dark.
Yep I've had an SGW-100 on a resin strap for over a year, it's brilliant for the money (I paid £35 GBP). The case shape/profile still plays well with shirt sleeves, big legible LCD and light with a mineral glass crystal. Definitely a better buy than the default DW5600/6900 most people are nudged towards for a tough watch. However mine just loses out on wrist time to my GW-M5610, I'm not too sure why that is to be honest.
This is the watch I always wear on Reserve weekends. Looks good with fatigues, super functional, and expendable - though I’ve never had one fail. I’ve bought two, just because the strap got ratty-looking on the first after many years, and it was cheaper to buy a new watch than buy a new strap.
I have the casio pathfinder paw-1300. It was a gift from my wife in 2009. I used it to go camping and over three years in Afghanistan. It still is going strong for being an atomic clock, solar (any light) power compass, Barometer and altimeter.
I’ve had this watch for a few years, bought from old stock, and I’ve never been able to get the compass or temperature to work correctly. I wasn’t thinking it would be super accurate or anything but I’ve tried resetting and recalibrating many different times but it always seems to mess up after about a minute or so. Is it worth replacing the battery or have I just got a faulty product, either way I guess that’s what you get for £40
I've been hiking and camping with this exact watch for months now, and I love it! The wife just ordered me a Protrek as a bribe (I finally broke down and said yes to getting a cat for the kiddos 😁) , but this will still ride either in a pack or on someones wrist whenever we hit the trails! Superbly comfortable on the rubber strap variant I have, easy to use, and honestly not so bulky as to seem cumbersome. Just an outstanding watch.
I have the PRG-270, it's a cost effective version of the famous rangeman (GW-9400) and has more features than the mudmaster GWG-1000. It also has a nicer display, solar charging, triple sensor, better chrono (999 hours) and better timer (24 hours), plus sunset and sunrise times. The only drawback is the atomic feature but most people don't sync anyways.
It is still $41 and I decided to spring for it for my early Christmas gift to myself. Timex used to offer a similar compass watch that was similarly priced, but Timex has priced the compass watches way out of touch with reality. Casio is holding the line on price and performance and I'm liking the lineup of great variability in the Casio line and prices... Looking forward to testing this watch and enjoying the performance and features.
@@jasonclarke7422 exactly. I have a Casio tough solar, and I've used it like you'd normally use a g shock. I use equipment most of the day that causes tons of vibration at work, and this things kept on going for 9 years now.
@@jasonclarke7422 absolutely. If you ever need a new casio, I'd recommend a tough solar. Yes theyre a bit more pricey, but you'll never need a battery change as long as you dont let it run flat.
I bought the OD green watch after using a casio tough solar 200m for my cheap beater at work for years. I'm an aircraft mechanic and used this watch from 10 deg Fahrenheit to 125 in fuel, oil and a rough workload. This watch for the money can't be beat, use it abuse it and wear your nice watches when its not going to thrashed. I swapped the band for the blue/black version as I hate cloth bands because of the dirty environment I work in.
I have one that is titled world time, its a survival watch theme, analog and has digital date displays, a data base to store important numbers. It can store several time zones. it is 10 year battery life. I have a G Shock that was 700 usd which is almost identical. This casio I paid 32 at Walmart and its been just as rugged, been through extreme weather and rain, snow and ice and heat, just like a G Shock. it still functions just fine and still looks good wearing. It was an upgrade for me. Originally in the military I purchased a Army basic training recommended at the PX,. Since then I have always stayed with Casio. Had the Casio large analog with the degree ring, Have one still working, use on my back pack, but I got this newer. and its a great durable watch
I got the SGW-500H (analog-digital) as a gift and that was my go to for years.. still works, but beat up pretty bad and the dual battery system is dumb.. I upgraded to the SGW-1000 (3 sensor) when I saw it for $40 and that's been my go to digital.
Since I work in an outdoor rugged profession, I worry about messing up my watches while working. That ended when I picked up my Casio AQS800W. Solar, Ana-digital, world time, and $30. Also all resin including the band, so electrically safe.
I bought this same dual sensor SGW-100, on a resin band, in 2013 or 2014. It's awesome!! Some have mistaken it for a G-shock. In 2019 I got the Tough Solar AQ-S810W on the resin strap. Both have been comfortable, sturdy and reliable.
I own this exact Watch. My only problem is that I can’t exactly calibrate the compass to be perfect but what it seems to be is that since it’s only using two senses of direction. It can’t always be 100% precise but it’s always within like 10° or true. North hopefully I could get it to work.
Thanks for showing this bad boy off. I have been lurking for my real watch in a very long time, and this looks perfect. Not near as bulky as the Gshocks.
Hi Mr. Time Teller, great "little" watch. Here in Germany it's around 100$ - may be I will buy it anyway. But I just bought another crazy cheap Casio which is such a great deal (I'm getting older so huge digital Displays are important): AE-1500WH-1AVEF. Take care and keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to drop by at your channel.
Now I am torn between getting my 13 year old son a smaller G-Shock and this. He loves the G-Shocks but this just looks too cool and the backlight look is really distinctive. His sister is getting a Baby-G. (Raising watch lovers, 1 kid at a time.)
Are you kidding me?! Just yesterday, I've added this exact one to favourites at my favourite online retailer! It was either this, or baro/alti combo, and I live at sea level... Not like I'm ever going to use the compass anyway 🤣
This was my beater watch for many years. It held up a very long time to some pretty hard service, well over a decade. The nylon strap is more comfortable than the plastic straps most Casio watches come with. The fake leather on the nylon band will likely be the first thing to fail. The nylon band underneath is bulletproof, so this is entirely cosmetic. But expect that it will start to look a bit ragged long before anything is really wrong with it, and then you have to decide whether a watch this cheap is even worthy of a new band. Honestly, I just lived with the strap looking ratty for years. Mine eventually crapped out but it lived long enough to need a new battery, so it didn't owe me anything by the time it finally died. Overall, I liked it, but the compass function was really nothing to write home about. That is more of a gimmick than something you could actually rely on. It is a manageable size, doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself, etc. I suspect that 95% of guys would find this watch performs just as well as a G-Shock. Maybe if you are a Navy SEAL or an Airborne Ranger you need more than this, but it took everything I dished out to it for years.
Toughest Casio I own (apart from my G-Shocks is probably the WV-200. It's radio controlled and has 200m water resistance. It used to be my dad's watch but it came to me when he passed away.
I asked for one of these for Christmas. I am a squirrel hunter. I got out there one day and my GPS unit failed. I had my phone and a backup compass. The compass was not trustworthy so I used my phone to sporadically give me my heading. After that trip, I wanted a GPS watch that would take a beating without beating my wallet.
Wrong for me.... but okay, use Celsius I don't care? I'm not stopping you... I'll use Fahrenheit and be extremely happy .. What is it with you foreigners and always wanting to talk metric and Celsius? Whatever you grew up with is what you're going to prefer, no? I would absolutely despise to the depths of Hell having to use celsius and but even more so metric... I would hate to play golf using meters instead of my accustomed yards.... To me the imperial system is superior: inches, feet, yards, pounds, ounces. As well as Fahrenheit! For you the metric system maybe great and ya would never use Fahrenheit over Celsius. And you're right whatever one you prefer is the right one for you!

@@thetimeteller Thanks. Sold a Kamasu (that I never wore) today and purchased a vintage SKX023 (37mm), but now I need something huge to balance the space time continuum.
I have (had) this watch. It was bought for me by my sisters either for bday or xmas, can’t remember now, but that was about 5-6 years ago (maybe even a bit longer). I wore it all the time before I got my Apple Watch about 3-4 years ago and loved it (the Casio). Was sitting in my draw for a couple or years then my son broke his watch so thought would give to him expecting to need to get a new battery, but no was still working. He’s had it about 18 months now and still going strong both battery and not broken ( he has a tendency to some how break things easily 😂 - has had a new watch almost every year as he manages to break it some how). Great watch.
I have my SGW-100 over eight years now. It’s my work watch so gets bonked about. Wear it swimming and canoeing. Case is a little bashed up but the bezel has done a great job protecting the glass. Still on the same strap and only replaced the battery.
May be off topic, but you showed the compass watch you're wearing. I''m curious about the coloring. Makes sense for the N indicator to be red or orange, but why are the segments from N to E also orange?
With my girls wrists I'm an F91W guy. That's when I'm not wearing my DJ or Explorer 36. FWIW, if I was to keep only one it would be the DJ36 126200 hands down! Grab one now whilst you still can at list or very modest premium.
I can't stand digital displays so I like the Casio MRW-200H-1BVES for outdoor stuff where it might take a few knocks & bashes and I don't mind if it gets damaged. Its a black resin strap watch with a swivel dial. Finished with a matching black dial with white detailing for a modern, monochrome finish, features include day and date window, quartz powered movement and water resistance up to 100 metres. Cheap and durable. It does what it needs to do - tell the time.
I don't have this Casio watch, but I bought similary about 8 years ago a Canyon CNS-SW7 for about $50. It is a triple sensor watch (with quite accurate barometer), you can change the battery by yourself and all the sensors are working as if it was new. The only downside is since it is cheaply made, the outer ring did break a bit, the letters which show the symbols of the sides of the world faded away and the buttons don't respond as they were responding when it was new.
Casio W-800h is also a bargain mini G-Shock: large, legible time; 100m WR; 10 year battery; dual time; perpetual calendar so you just have set the date once. Just missing countdown timer (there’s a mod for that if it’s really needed)
Just picked up this watch (all black with dk purple), and a WR 100M fishing watch at Walmart clearance shelf - $17.00 for both, and they still had a few left. Might be worth a check in your areas. Purchased these on 5/23/22.
Have worn this watch more often than not over last 13 years. Eventually switched to the plastic band after second nylon replacement. Nylon gets smelly after awhile. Still love the watch even though timer, compass, and temp no longer work.
I got the SGW-1008, similar to the one have for this video. I bought mine before 2011 and I love it. It's now sitting in my jewelry box. I now used my GBA-800, not bad watch! But every now and then I pick up my trusty SGW-1008 or is it 100B?
I bought this very watch in december 2008 at Walmart for $54. It died in 2022, despite being in the ocean many times, water slides, etc. In the last year or so, the only problem I got was regarding the light. The contact button did not always work. It died with a display malfunction like most LCD watch. I change it for a new Mud Resist GG-1000 which was on sale. It is so big and so heavy that I am not sure I made a good choice after all.
I'm so glad I kept this watch.. it died on me years ago.. but I brought it back to life. The original straps went to crap but I replaced them with the similar straps you have. Cost me a bit in 2008 here in Australia but wow can't believe it still works haha.
This was my first watch purchase ever 2 years ago. Unfortunately I bought it used to be cheap and it stopped working and I lost a spring trying to swap the battery. I need to replace it for the casual every day beater.
After about ten years of ownership and abuse, i changed one battery and I'm planning to change the strap because the leather parts start to decay. Other than that, it is in mint condition, one of the best digital beater watches out there even before considering value for money.
A very good call, I've had one for some years now and it just ROCKS. Yes it probably should be a G Shock or Pro Trek, but until it becomes on of those we'll celebrate and use it just the same!

Had a Kohl's coupon for use today - got this watch for $35 and change. I did not need it, but I have a disease, and it's called watch collecting.
Lol… me too
Me too
Nice, I've got that one in black with the inverted display. Now I won't feel ashamed wearing it!
Great video.....will include this to "G-shock but not a G-shock" to my collection. Keep rockin dude....
What is a tide graph?
@@andrewthompson1485 basically, its give you an estimate of the tide level, high tide low tide etc depending on the area you set it up to keep track of.
Sorry if someone already mentioned this: I followed the link and bought the watch. It's not green and doesn't have a nylon band as I discovered when I opened the box. It's black and matte silver with the typical CASIO resin strap. And that's still fine. LOVE the huge display and backlight. Although it is massive on my small wrist it is very light and comfortable.
I have the negative dial version with the purple bezel. Absolutely love the thing. Very unique look and easy to wear
I just ordered this exact variant! looking forward to getting it in the next few days 🙃
I have one. 13 years and still working great! 1 change of battery. Insane!
Got the watch today.Great deal and it wears just perfect. Thanks Man!!! Michael from Germany
My favorite watches are Casio and Citizen watches. I am thinking of getting this one. Its got so many features.
That's my adventure buddy I carry with me to concerts and festivals in Europe and the compass actually saved me quite a few times.
so its reliable?...what about the backlight does shut down when you press the button immediately?..can you set alarm on dark?
@@kenshi3vers The compass is reliable, the thermometer not so much if you wear the watch. The illumination lasts for a few seconds. I'm not sure you can setup something in the dark.
Moreover it's a Casio, so it's packed with features, but hard to remember how to use them.
I am in the ocean a lot surfing and what not. This watch has been with me for a loooong time and still working perfectly.
I'm sure there is a premium for the G Shock label, but don't forget you also get the shock resistance that you don't get with this one.
Yes, but is it really worth four times more?
I have owned the cheapest Casio watch the F91 and the thing is like a cockroach I just can’t kill it.
@@jasonclarke7422 exactly. I have a Casio tough solar, and I've used it like you'd normally use a g shock. I use equipment most of the day that causes tons of vibration at work, and this things kept on going for 9 years now.
@@matthewolivier2883 I think that goes to show that Casio watches are the best value watches money can buy 👍
@@jasonclarke7422 absolutely. If you ever need a new casio, I'd recommend a tough solar. Yes theyre a bit more pricey, but you'll never need a battery change as long as you dont let it run flat.
I own something similar to that. The casio protrek triple sensor. Been using it for 2 decades now and I still love it.
I have had mine for a few years. Came in handy when I took vacation in Vietnam.
I prefer the all digital ws-200-H, slightly smaller, but also tough solar. The ana-digi combination lowers your standby time in power saving mode.
I've had this model since 2013. It's unbreakable. Love it.
I own this exact Watch. My only problem is that I can’t exactly calibrate the compass to be perfect but what it seems to be is that since it’s only using two senses of direction. It can’t always be 100% precise but it’s always within like 10° or true. North hopefully I could get it to work.
Further evidence that Casio is awesome.
Glad your Black Friday merch always sells out. That will help you pay for all your future Land Rover repairs. 😉
Casio = Toyota.
LANDCRUISER
❤❤❤
My favorite Casio is the DW290 Mission Impossible. I also put it on a Casio W71 strap and it’s wicked comfy
Die AE 1500 ist wirklich super. Nur das Kunststoffglas ist sehr kratzempfindlich.
Casio SGW 600H for me is the most underrated Casio. Twin Sensor & 100m wr. Looks good too.
I have a PRG650-Y, really love the durability and functionality.
Casio SGW 100: The Poor Man's Mudmaster. It's the kind of watch you wear into a war.
I like the look and the size of the numbers.
How long does the battery last ?
Damn. I just bought a Casio ae1500 and now I want this watch too. "Don't start watch collecting.".
That's an awesome watch that looks very G-Shock for half the price of this one.
Don't start Casio collecting! Lol
I just ordered through your link. Looks like a great watch. What aftermarket straps do you recommend for this model?
Toughest Casio I own (apart from my G-Shocks is probably the WV-200. It's radio controlled and has 200m water resistance. It used to be my dad's watch but it came to me when he passed away.
My condolences
I've worn GShocks since the 80's, this model is my first non GShock, it is sooo nice for such a cheapie.
I have this watch and I love it. This episode actually prompted me to get the nylon version. Good job!!!
Celsius is superior and you're not going to convince me otherwise
Wrong.
Less precise
Celsius is the most practical (at least for me) But Kelvin is more superior
@@BuffaloNickel9 yea yall just stay in ur own corner with ur own little rules and let the rest of the world use commonalities
Ive had mine forever and finally had to change the battery, an excellent watch.
Love this one! I bit big for my 6.5-inch girly wrists, but on those days I wanna feel manly, I need this watch. Just a note that the affiliate link doesn't take us to the same watch you're reviewing, but instead it goes to an all-black model that I personally don't like as much. If you'd like us to patronize your affiliate link (and of course we'd like you to benefit from bringing this cool watch to our attention), please link to the exact green model with orange highlights, named Casio Men's SGW100B-3V. Please let me know when you've added this link, and I'll use it to purchase. Cheers
Check again!
Have had it for a couple of years in my collection. Really underrated and nice!
Thank you for an excellent review. I'm sold on this one.
Seems like the perfect camping watch for those that can’t afford a gshock with the barometer and altimeter functions.
Is the time teller shop only available at certain times?
Yes, that is super cool. I could definitely see myself buying that.
Thank you sir! This is perfect for a beater watch to wear at work.
I got one had it for years picked it up in the Army... great field watch.
Love this watch - bought one for my son a couple of years ago and he loves it👍Thanks Jory, for reminding me to get one myself!
That was my first watch that I bought in my life. I was very proud of it.
I'm discovering there's an entire line of SGW Casio's, and now I want ALL of them
Just ordered one Jory using your affiliate link. Thanks for the video brother!
This is what I've been looking for! THank You :)
This was my first watch purchase ever 2 years ago. Unfortunately I bought it used to be cheap and it stopped working and I lost a spring trying to swap the battery. I need to replace it for the casual every day beater.
Ahh..my lovely work watch, it is godly and indestructable!
