as an astros fan, they were our biggest opponents so far in the playoffs, those guys just dont quit, they will be a great team and the AL West will now be interesting.
Thank you for keeping the respect factor there. Astros are the benchmark - 2023 will be a helluva season if the Mariners carry this over. They gained a ton of high level high stress experience against the Astros in the postseason.
I was riding high on the 2018 Mariners-it seemed like they finally were going to the playoffs! They were in a wild card spot for most of the season but just cooled as the season wore on and didn’t quite have enough juice to make it, narrowly missing the playoffs to the Oakland A’s, just like in 2014 and 2016. It was sad because King Felix was obviously washed up and a shell of his former self, and that might’ve been the difference between them having those 3-4 extra wins to make it. King Felix’s career really couldn’t have been more of a Shakespearean tragedy in that he played so well and gave everything on a terrible team only for him to have nothing left in the tank by the time the team was good enough to sniff the playoffs. Needless to say, I was pretty devastated to see that whole team get completely blown up and the entire thing getting torn down to the ground. So to see this turnaround in such a short time is insane! The 2021 team played absolutely out of their minds!! And they did it with really only 4 starting pitchers, 2 of whom were rookies in Gilbert and Flexen. Had they not achieved at such a high level, this team would be nowhere near where they are today; it’d be more farm building, player development, etc as they wouldn’t have gone out and gotten Robbie Ray and Geno Suarez. Then if it hadn’t been for the 14 game winning streak, we wouldn’t have gotten Luis Castillo 💪 Amazing acceleration to greatness!
I wasn't very much high about the 2018 team since some of the core players were starting to get past their primes and it is a tragedy how Felix Hernandez pretty much got broken, it was all those years of wear and tear which is why I was perfectly fine with just blowing it up after 2018 since they couldn't even break 90 wins with that core even when they were slightly younger, the blow up was more than necessary at the time
Love the channel bro, im a life long Mariners Nerd as well. I like your ideas, but JD does it way different. Here's my take. LA is going hard at judge, and said that mookie is cool with a move to 2B. I think we line up well with the dodgers for a trade. Bellinger is a great buy low guy, and I think a move to Seattle and working with the Ms system can bring him back. He's far too talented to not be a stud. That also means Lux isn't got a spot. I expect LA to sign Correa(he's younger than Trea) this makes Lux getable. Bellinger/Lux for a combo of Flexen/Perez JR/PTBNL/Trammell. I dunno what LA would want in our farm as there's is just as good. this solves moving Jrod to RF where hell be far more effective defensively(yes he's good in CF but he's a RF/LF guy). Its also gives you a dynamic CF who can play other positions, JD loves that. Lux takes 2b and for now JP at SS. Cole young is coming and will be a stud at SS. Then I think he snags Josh Bell. DH/1B and a S hitter. I also agree Nimmo is almost a lock to me. Nimmo LF Lux 2B Suarez 3B Jrod RF DUMPER C Bell 1B/DH France 1B/DH Bellinger CF/LF/RF/1B JP SS Bench : Kelenic/Dmo/Swaggerty/Murph This barely increase payroll, and allows to add at the AS break when you are 1.5 out of first behind the Astros. I don't think he's going to pay a reliever, he's got so many big arms in the minors. Prelander Borrera is the next brash. but he might snag whoever they think they can fix in the FA market.
I’m not a Mariners fan but I sure damn recognize talent and aside from any home town team you root for, you’d be crazy not to at least stand up and recognize that Mariners are a solid AL team that come playoffs, will rip you to shreds in a quick 3 game set or even 1 game WC (much as we hate them). I like these guys! PS: What’s with that GM making ridiculous comments about Rodriguez? I’m going to have to chalk this one up to unfortunate circumstances of an idiot with a loud, unnecessary big mouth? Did he not realize he was on a public call? Or was this video “leaked”? That’s crazy.
That was the president of the mariners He was notorious for his incompetence And him saying all those things was the death blow for his job Kevin mather
Classic Boomer not used to the meeting being publicly available and saying something really stupid and ridiculous. Although not to go to bat for Kevin Mather, but when he said Julio “has more personality than any of you” was he wrong tho? 😂
If he just didn't say English and interpreter, he would still be with the mariners, he just didn't know the crowd which really proved that he was disconnected with the community just as much as Howard Lincoln and Chuck Armstrong were also disconnected with the community, honestly people didn't really know who he really was, I knew Kevin was that incompetent of a president just like the other two men that ran the team to the ground, so it was nice that there was a convenient reason to get rid of him

The Yankees have been an embarrassment..... hope we have a good rivarly!

What's the difference between JD and I and your opinion?
Also I intend to use different music next time as I actually had to get the license for this song lol
Bellinger would be an interesting idea
As I'm pretty confident that Mitch haniger won't be back
You left put Murph getting hurt which allowed a previously struggling Cal to start and succeed
Thanks for feedback!
Was possibly planning to release a "special edition" especially if the Mariners win the world series!!
And the fact that Cal had actually been sent down to Tacoma prior to that. He had an insane turnaround and became a revelation this year!
He in the minors for sooooo long
Felix's last appearance always gets to me 😢
Same hereeeee
Sad how he had no help
@@rooftopsports he deserved to start a playoff game
2014 really hit him the most
16:40 they didnt hit back to back, julio hit one, then ty france got out, and then geno hit the walk off
Omg, thanks for the feedback
We're coming for you Houston.
Lets hope so
Maybe next year, or the next one, or the next one…
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Kyle Lewis that is a name I haven't heard in quite some time
Sooooo longgggg time
@@rooftopsports yeah like Tim Lincecum
Talk about one of those flash pan players oddly the Giants during their WS runs had a lot of those which does explain some things
Pretty much
At least the giants got much out of it
NGL - the first half of Dipotos stint with the Ms was trash
Pretty much
He didnt really start rebuilding until after 2018
