I am British and lived in Mexico city about 16 years ago we go back each year . It's easy to avoid the gringos live in del valle instead of condesa . Areas like guerro are close to the centre but free of gringo hipster types.

I am American but I don't like the American way, this is why I love Mexico. I want to relocate to Mexico but some parts are too Americanized. Mexicans are welcoming and warm. I love that about them.

I’m Mexican living in the USA for the past 40 years some of my fellow Mexicans are feeling the growing pains but they being receiving billions of dollars and we displaced millions of Americans when we came to the USA my opinion is now Mexico is returning the favor we Mexicans have influenced American culture a hole lot.
I as a local, born here, and that I have the privilege to travel to the US and live in a nice part of Mexico City, I can tell you that yes, we are feeling displaced in a lot of ways. I know it's not the Americans fault, that I have clear, yet as you showed in the beginning of your video I do hate how my city is starting to americanize. Don't like seeing billboards, menus, and advertising in English. Also I hate that because I'm white, many waiters asume automatically that I'm American and speak to me in English. Also, the salsas at restaurants aren't spicy anymore and the food is being transformed to please an American pallet. Also, WITHOUT GENERALIZING, many Americans arrive feeling that they superior to us instead of trying to blend into a new society. This is inevitable, and foreigners will continue to arrive, but when respect is lost, all goes wrong.

I believe that Mexico, like North America, is destined to become a kind of European Union where English and Spanish will be spoken and it will be a more closed block in the distant future. .

I live in Madrid and there is no way you are gonna find a nice apartment just for yourself for 1.300 dollars in a comparable area to those like Condesa and others. You can get a room for 800 euros in a comparable area. Paris, Berlin or london even higher. The thing is that CDMX is growing fast and salaries are much higher now, especially for middle to high level management or qaulified jobs in general. You can definitely earn more there than in some european countries like Spain..let alone Portugal, Greece or most eastern europeans. Salaries are still lower for people that are not qualified but they are gonna catch up too eventually.

This is just plain out wrong, the number of us citizens living in Mexico City increased by 70% from 2019 to 2022 to over 30,000. I guarantee you that the majority of them live in the nicer areas around Polanco, Roma, and now probably the surrounding areas like Benito Juarez. That on top of immigrants from European countries, and wealthy Mexicans raises the property value of those areas a lot. Most traffic in online rental sites are from Americans and Europeans. There are so many new developments being built specifically catering to the remote work/more a fluent people with more purchasing power. All of this inflates the prices in those areas to the point where if you’re local to the area it is completely unaffordable and inaccessible for the common Mexican to afford. Plus the 22 million number comes from traffic in and out the city every single say the number of people registered as actually living in Mexico City by having property there is much lower and more significant when talking abt rent and completion to rent in said areas.
I am a US citizen In 2010 Felipe Calderón gave me political asylum and in 2020 I naturalized, before cultural centers and museums never asked for proof of Mexican nationality for local rates or free days, now I always have to show my national identity card. Prices have skyrocked. People always try to speak tl me in English now even though I am of Asian descent. Local culture dies out and everyone caters to this new crowd.
Cuando vas a otro pais debes ir con la mentalidad bien abierta, dispuesto a conocer la cultura su historia, sus tradiciones etc etc. No llegas a otro pais a querer cambiar sus costumbres o llegar a buscar comida rápida o disque "comida" americana y si no estas dispuesto a correr esa aventura entonces pa que chingados migran para México. EXPATS= a inmigrante lo que pasa que al gringo o a cualquier otro extranjero europeo ven esta palabra denigrante la asocian con un termino peyorativo que le dan a los inmigrantes latinoamericanos o de otros paises en vias de desrrollo. Y sí los gringos son parte del problema no solo de CDMX sino de muchas Cds de Mexico donde Literal estan invadiendo haciendo más dificil la vida a los mexicanos, entre el Cartel inmoviliario y pequeños propietarios que ven un negocio redondo expulsando a los locales para rentar a los gringos, que no pagan impuestos en México por cierto, que consumen sólo en locales de gringos, que insultan y ofenden a la gente trabajadora de México. Nos dicen ilegales en usa y estoy segura que muchos de los que llegan a México también son ilegales.

Thank you for the video , I think it is interesting what is happening right now, but this is nothing new, I’m from Guadalajara and I remember sixty years ago people from different parts of the US used to gather at the local Wolworth ( sorry for the spelling) in downtown Guadalajara, It is my personal opinion that Foreigners wherever they come from bring with them part of their culture that enriches our culture . Ajijic is a small town next to Chápala lake , it’s been a destination for many North Americans to retire, (the largest population of Americans in Mexico live there) . If you travel to Baja California Sur you’ll find people from Canada there , the world is getting smaller. I say enjoy life a day at time lets enjoy this short journey called life in peace no fears! Give your best don’t impose your ideas on anyone respect is the key .

Estuve en San Francisco, temas de negocios. Y la verdad es que, no puedo generalizar, pero esa ciudad ha cambiado mucho para mal, desafortunadamente, indigentes en la calle, drogadictos, suciedad que antes no se veía en la ciudad de los Estados Unidos. Incluso me sentí más seguro en Ciudad de México que allá; muchos gringos, explicaron porque ya no querían vivir en EUA, y es, entre otras cosas, por el costo de la vida.

Mumbai es una ciudad muy parecida a la CDMX en lo siguiente: Es muy cultural, muy histórica, es una mezcla de las etnias indo-arias y dravídicas , es muy despreciada por los " mass media" occidentales, es muy estereotipada y es MUY contrastante..tienes barrios como la Condesa, como Polanco, como Las Lomas y tiene zonas como iztapalapa, iztacalco, GAM , Ecatepec.

Hay varias teorias. De China dice que se asemeja a youtiao.
Pero los españoles dicen que son propios de España donde se hizo la forma de estrella para la harina. Y existian las frituras en Roma y Grecia hechas de harina de trigo.
Y en Mexico se piensa que llegaron de España. Lo que es cierto es que la idea de cubrirlos en una mezcla de azucar y canela paso en Mexico. En España no los cubren y solo ofrecen chocolate caliente derretido con los churros.
Que pasaran de China por los Portugueses suena extraño en general porque los Portugueses fueron los que llevaron el pan de trigo a lugares como Japon. Y Mexico tenia mas conexiones cercanas a China y Japon que España durante la epoca colonial por la nao de China.
Otra cosa curiosa, que la concha Mexicana (otro tipo de pan), tambien se introdujo a Japon y Hong Kong quiza a principios del siglo 20. En Japon le hicieron una capa mas delgada y la llamaron melonpan. Curiosamente en japon le dicen pan a los panes y pasteles, igual que en español. Pero dicen que los Portugueses lo introducieron a Japon, aunque los Portugueses le llaman pao, no pan como en español. Los españoles tambien estuvieron en Japon en el siglo 17 (pasando por Mexico primero), al mismo tiempo que los Portugueses.

Yes, Mexico is part of the western world but Americans unfortunately confuse the western world with the anglo saxon world. So when they speak about the western world, they're actually speaking about the anglo-saxon world which is not the same. And the Mumbai comment just forget it.
Mexico City and Mumbai have many more similarities than meets the eye. Both are huge places , with an important mixture of people ( Mumbai is the mixtrue of indo-arian & dravidic ) , both are very historical sites, with a HUGE cultural heritage, both cities are terribly underrated by "west" mass media, both places are very stereotyped, and both cities are very contrated..you have very rich neighborhoods and you have very poor neighborhoods.

La CDMX y Mumbai tienen muchas similitudes más allá de lo que se puede ver a primera vista. 1- Son ciudades enormes y por lógica con problemáticas enormes, 2- Son ciudades con un legado cultural ENORME , 3- Son ciudades con MUCHA historia y con un gran mestizaje, 4- Son ciudades muy despreciadas por los medios occidentales, 5-Son ciudades muy estereotipadas y son ciudades de contrastes MUY FUERTES, donde tienes zonas MUY ricas y zonas MUY pobres.
Y has visitado Mumbai? México tiene muchas coincidencias con otros paises no europeos, de hecho creo que mas de las que tiene con Europa, México es mas como otras tantas excolonias en el mundo.

México and USA will become a mixed culture, just like every single border state in both countries. Spanglish culture. The problem it’s not having culture, it’s not going to adapt to Mexican culture in any way possible, but it’s going to erase US traditions since new generations are accommodating to a raising community standard that follows international culture but doesn’t define their own.
When are gringos going to start coming to my area, I'm ready to rent an apartment for much less than $1,300 a moth. Gentrification is not wrong, it's an opportunity to learn from other people and culture. Sean todos bien venidos a nuestro lindo Mexico.

Kentucky fried chicken, McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks, at&t, are all English names, what do you expect. Mexican people have to make up their minds, do you want American influence in your beautiful country, or not. That's how countries get colonized. Begins with the bad food. Here in Morelia Mexico, I saw a heavily packed burger king with Mexicans and their family enjoying the American bad food.
I guess when the new mayor (right wing) wins this June the 2nd, things are gonna get better for everybody. Better services (I hope they get rid of the pick up with loud speaker buying, refrigerators, used tvs, mattresses, etc. it’s so annoying for some people 95%. I was born in colonia Roma.

La libre competencia como resultado es dar el mejor servicio y producto a precios bajos, lo malo es el monopolio donde el producto es malo y caro, además escaso. Ejemplo. Países comunistas donde el gobierno es dueño de todo.
