- Johnny Marr does folk finger-style in this beautiful Smiths B-side. Only learned this one recently, and I think it would be a great addition to anyone's finger-style repertoire. Music/tab here: www.anyonecanplayguitar.co.uk/...

Love this bloke. So unassuming, so generous with his skills and what a brilliant choice of songs to teach. He's an absolute gem.
John Jones Could not have said it better myself.
@@lamf04 or me - well said. A gem of a guitar instructor and can play a bit as well :-)
such an English sentence
@@royaltytradingco True, it's not Esperanto.
nice, accurate and free of bullshit lesson. This song is really tricky to figure out alone when you are a clueless beginner. Hope to see more videos teaching smiths' songs. Thanks for this!
For anyone who is nervous to try or may think that it’s too hard, the tune is deceiving you. It sounds difficult, but it’s really isn’t hard to play.
This is probably a good song to start practicing your picking to :)
Agreed
the shirt goes really well with the song
Wonder what it would sound like played on a B C Rich with tons of distortion?!
in my oppinion this is one of the best guitar teaching channels on UA-cam
One capo and two hours later and I've got this! Can't believe it! You RULE!!!!
I'd love the idea of you making a Chanel just for the smiths
Chanel No. 6 - Eau de Misery? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
I'd buy that perfume.
I was wondering if you can do a tutorial on their song “Well I Wonder” .
Really surprised with how fast I'm picking this up thanks to your lesson! I'm a beginner so this really helps.
Beautifully played and brilliantly explained. Thank you so much.
Thanks Iain, pleased you enjoyed the video!
I figured this one out note for note years ago. It was pain-staking but worth it to be able to play this amazing song. You absolutely nail the lesson here and have improved on a few passages for me. Thanks!
Thanks Charlie - glad you liked it.
Great lesson... especially having the tab available it's helped me out of the parts of the song that have had me stuck. Can you please do a lesson for Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now?
Thank-you for all the time and effort you put into your tutorials. You're an excellent teacher and a terrific player.
Really appreciate your hard work getting this lesson out there!
Fabulous ! Thanks so much for sharing ! You certainly know how to honor the legacy of Johnny Marr !
What a beautiful song, and complex in such a very musical way !
You sir, are incredible. I love this - you play one of my favourite Smiths songs with a flawlessness that I can only aspire to.
Thank you.
Thank you for this video man it’s hard to find smiths tutorials on UA-cam this accurate and well explained :)
You did an amazing job explaining this song. Hearing it, I thought it would be impossible to play, but the way you explained made it really simple and easy to understand. Thank you.
My goodness Adrian! You have such a perfect ear. You’re like a tape recorder (dating myself) and, dare I say, you often make the originals sound better. God bless your talent, and taste in tunes sir.
Spent a rainy Saturday afternoon with your lesson. Thank you so much. I learned this by ear, from a newly opened LP on a horrible record player when it came out on Hatful. Beautiful piece. Transports me back.
What a wonderful piece of music. Keep the Smiths songs coming, please!
Been working in this for week and have the whole thing worked out - need to improve the speed but its there! Thnaks for such a fantastic tutorial, video and tabs. Absolutely brilliant - thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for breaking this song down, it's very much appreciated. God bless you pal.
What a wonderful job. Clear, concise and very easy to follow. Excellent video.
I am realy happy I found all your acoustic lessons !!! Can not thank you enough :)
I'm glad you've done The Smiths again! Your transcription of "This charming man" was the first I knew from you, and the only transcription of that song that sounds right to me (as we talked about by email). And I love the guitar in "Back to the old house". Thanks!
You are one of the best, thank you so much. Im more experienced with fingerpicking than most and this was perfect pace, clear and to the point, not too slow, not too fast. Learned this in one sitting! Thank you!
I love it!!! Thank you so much för the lession. Please, more The smiths songs!!!
Wanted to learn this since it first came out! And you handle both the playing and the instruction beautifully! THANKS! (and subscribed!)
Thanks Adrian, as always great lesson. Keep the Smiths tunes coming!
I've been wishing I could play this song for years. Now I can thanks to you!
Great song, great video and an amazing lesson. Thank you Adrian.
All your lessons are brilliant but I particularly enjoyed this. Thanks so much :-)
This is a fantastic tutorial. Such a deceptively difficult guitar part to play. You have done a terrific job of breaking it down. Thank you.
Great stuff, Adrian. Beautiful D-28 as well.
This is a classy piece of work Adrian, many many thanks for sorting this out for me. I've been playing it wrong for years!
Superb lesson and the playing is beautiful.
Yes! Well done. More Smiths, please.
thanks so much for this video. i’ve been picking up pieces of the song and am close to getting it all together. much appreciated.
Best one I've seen. You're great!!!
Beautifully done, I learnt this 20 years ago but without thumb pick, It seemed to get in the way when I used it. Might revisit this one again. Love your attention to detail.
I tried this piece some time back but was a bit too green with finger style to completely grasp it and became frustrated and put it down. Four years later after much guitar practice and working on finger style pieces (mainly blues) Ive come back to this gem of a piece and finding it much more manageable and I’m able to pick it up. Moral of story: It’s ok to put things down if you aren’t there yet, but come back to it after you build up your skills and revisit. I love Adrian’s lessons, and this one of my favorites.
Good advice, as I’m struggling with this especially the first section changing from the C to the F. I’m finding it hard controlling my little finger to get it closer to the strings, so I change really slowly
Always wanted to learn this - thanks so much!
Absolutely superb!
This is one of my fav songs hell yeah
Beautiful!!!...one of my all time faves :)
Wonderful tutorial. You're a great teacher and I'd love your Smiths only channel. :) Thanks for posting.

amazing lesson for a beautiful song.

Love it' very nicely played' always loved that guitar playing' you played it perfect
Great job..you're a fantastic player
The acoustic version of this reminds me of John Fahy. Maybe Sligo River Blues. Sort of. Thanks for the lesson.
Always find Smiths songs incredibly satisfying to play.
Thank you! Bought your album, I'm about to check it out. 🤘
I love you for doing this, you beautiful man!
I love you too Andy!
Ha ha!
AND I think you could give lessons to to the original artists on how to (better) play their creations. What an ear(s) you have young man! Love, absolutey love your videos, just donated $100 and in support. Fellow Canucks (esp Alberta) pony up for this gentleman’s gifts, eh!
Many thanks for sharing this interpretation. To my ears at least you have pretty much nailed the feel and spirit of the song and that is what matters and you showed me a chord voicing I had been missing. As a huge Marr/Smiths fan, I very much appreciate your efforts. Keep up the great work!
Love it hopefully you will do more fingerstyle tutorials thank you
Wow! Beautiful
Excellent work Adrian! Found your channel because of This Charming Man was hoping you'd do this
amazing video mate keep it up
I can play this song because of this great guitar lesson, thank you very
Thanks Adrian, I just read the Johnny Marr biography, I stayed home sick today and took your guitar lessons.
Hi Adrian . I'm off work with for a while so I've taken this on ! Thankyou for making it do - able ! I'm half way through it and taking it slowly Johnnys melodies are from somewhere special.
I've mastered This Charming Man from your lesson too. I've learned a lot from you and Eric Haugen ... another superb teacher and musician , you two should team up : )
Here here to oblivious Adrian. Great guitar work in it. Know the chords but would love to learn that solo. No pressure. Btw your teaching style is first class, I have learnt so much from country to rockabilly. Keep it up my friend.
Lot of thank you. Great take.
Thanks!
A YT channel by Adrian devoted to The Smiths gets my vote! Thank you for this lesson.
Wow, amazing lesson. I'd need three hands to play it! Great choice Adrian, been a favourite song for 30 years,
It's such a good song. Do-able if you take it slowly. I've only been playing it a couple of weeks. Not quite perfect yet, but it's getting there.
This sounds really good
Great Job!!
A great job. Thanks.
Great lesson, subscribed!
Wonderful! Love your Smiths lessons! I wish you'd do more of them
That really is amazing.
Dude you nailed it! thank you so much :) can you do Nowhere Fast by The Smiths?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Great suggestion. Can't promise I'll be able to look at that immediately, but I'll definitely bear it in mind for future videos.
Fantastic lesson! It would be great if you could do more smiths'. I'd like to learn vicar in a tutu. This is one of theirs that doesn't appear to have a decent tutorial available as yet.
Keep up the good work.
I used to have the louder than bombs tab book, a big thick manual that was virtually note-for-note accurate....so wish I still had it!
Me too. I lent my copy out to a friend and never saw it again 🙈
If I close my eyes is like I am listening to Johnny...well done mate.
Love the choice of the song with the Slayer T-shirt!
you play so clean
Amazing, thanks
Excellent thank you !
Never woulda figured this out on my own. Thanks!
