Johnny Marr was only 20 when he wrote this! Amazing
It's kind of crazy. At 20 he played like a veteran of styles translated through the Johnny Marr magical music machine.
Pretty sure i could practise this song for 20 years and still not play it as good as he played it when he was still a boy.
One question. When I’m learning this song….does the mind rule the body or does the body rule the mind?
I don't know...
idduno
If you must go to work I wouldn’t bother.
@@bigztar Idunoooooooooo! *Rank version*
A crate of Ale
Nowhere Fast would be a fun one. There's a lot of great riffs in it.
100%%
yes I feel like this would go crazy if Adrian did a lesson on it
one of the most beautiful guitar lines of all time. only just getting into the smiths and this song stood out a few days ago while i was out on a walk. gotta learn to play it now
This track is a powerhouse of classic SMITHS. How Marr blends with Joyce and Rourke, w Morrissey's floating melody over top. Synergy at its best. In my top 5 SMITHS songs for sure.
Thumbs up before I have even watched/listened cause I know it will be top notch!
I'm not clicking like until I've learnt it to perfection, reformed The Smiths and performed it live at a sold out Manchester arena show 😤
Up the toffeees
Jazzmaster + chorus + delay = best combination
Awesome again! Thanks for doing this.
Always great to see you do another Smiths song! Cheers!
Beautifully played! One of my favourites.
Thank you! Was so excited to open this and see another Smiths lesson
One of my absolute faves by The Smiths! Thanks Adrian!
Excellent! This is one of my very favorite Smiths tracks to play.
Thank you do much for doing these - I love your videos, so clear, so well thought out and easy to follow and you talk through your gear too - top notch - love it!
Love it. Thanks for these lessons!
Beautifully played; and illustrates the absolute genius of JM. Unreal.
thank you as always!! your song choices are fantastic, wire, smiths, jonny kidd are much appreciated
Keep 'em coming. Love it!
YEEEESSSS!!!! Now I shall spend a month of my life learning and playing this song. THANK YOUUUUU
Always a pleasure, Adrian. Rock on!
Absolutely wonderful. My band does this song and this has helped flesh out some of the bits I was doing wrong. Thanks again. Your videos are amazingly good and accurate.
This is one of my favorite smiths tunes and one of the first that I ever learned. I’m about to watch the video and I bet I’m gonna learn I’ve been doing it wrong for years. Thanks for making this!
Thanks Adrian. I really appreciate your lessons on The Smiths songs. And twice a year is better than only once.
Great teacher!!! Thanks a lot for sharing
Are you kidding me? I just learnt this song the past week and I was wondering if you had a lesson of this amazing piece from Marr. You are the best as always!!
What an excellent channel man superb delivery of teaching. 🤝
Excellent lesson, you're a wonderful human being !
JFM is amazing. Great as always 👍
A love attempting to play still ill sometimes when a get it right purist buzz happens 55 yrs old still adore this track.Great work Adrian .
Adrian......if I had your skills, I would not be humble as you are....that said, it's why I prefer your lessons. You make us mortals feel like its ok to be normal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this lesson and doing what you do! Also, your taste level is impeccable!
Beautiful playing 💯🔥
Damn. That is beautiful. Fantastic work.
Thanks that's great and thanks for the details on the Pedals at the end.
you are so great at this. thank you
Hey you Are an amazing! Teacher, plus u got great taste in music, learned some of my favourite riffs from you, would never have been able to do this otherwise, never stop! Love from Oslo
My favourite Smiths tune. Thanks Adrian
Wow, I am already in love! And it's not even Friday, lol! Well done! 😍❤️
Again, AWESOME!
It sounds good to me! I'm getting my Jazzmaster out tonight!
Love it, nice one Adrian 😎🎙🎸✅
Thank you so much!
Thanks, love this tune 👍
Excellent well done as always Thanks a lot.
Your are a legend!!!
This song is great .. congrats
Brilliant!
Perfect. I just picked up the guitar again (sorry) and started learning this. Also, glad you’re feeling better…
Brilliant as always! Marr is a genius
Thank you so much
Another excellent lesson Adrian! Compliments on the Dinosaur Jr. shirt.
I really liked your teaching style in the Still Ill guitar lesson i.e. taking the time to explain how the chords relate to the notes in the picking parts and it never felt like It was out of reach for my abilities - exactly as it sounds on the Smiths album. Just Great!
The song "Strange Bedfellows" by Sandie Shaw and guitarist Kevin Armstrong from the 1988 album Hello Angel would be an interesting track to learn (I have never found any online covers/lessons for this) although I think there are at least a couple of layers of fairly difficult guitar parts in there so it's probably beyond me- . Many thanks for your lesson.
Awesome! Only problem: Why didn‘t you post that 30 years earlier when I first tried to learn that song 😃. Johnny Marr‘s guitar parts are a royal pain in the arse to figure out, especially when all you‘ve got is a CD player or a cassette deck. Fun times 😀.
Can’t even imagine trying to figure Johnny out with just a cd
Been there brother...Marr’s stuff is insane to figure out!!!!
Same problem, made worse by the fact that I didn't know he was using a capo/tuning up for most Smiths tunes
*flatulent pain in the arse
Lovely number!
Great lesson ❤ Cool taste.
This is brilliant
This one is awesome. I actually managed to get this one down pretty quickly.
This is fantastic Adrian, thank you so much! I’ve been a Smiths fan since Hatful of Hollow was released here in Canada (1984?). I’m so glad to be able to play this now. My only suggestion for an alternative is when playing that first arpeggio, I find it easier to play the F# by playing the open E string rather than fretting the B string before the slide up. Purely a matter of preference. Also, for extra JFM jangliness, it sounds awesome on a 12 string electric.
i learned this song yesterday and now you posted this
Thanks Adrian you should never apologise for doing another JM tutorial, I’ve waited 30 years for them and they are worth the wait! How about Aztec Camera Walk out to Winter? Another guitar genius worth exploring.
A very good shout!
Aztec Camera....so underrated.
Or anything from Surf by Roddy Frame..
That’s was a great as always, I only knew the first part of the song so I’m glad that I was able to learn the second part from you.
As for a recommendation, I think “last night I dreamt that somebody loved me” is one of Johnny Marr’s favorites. I actually don’t see anyone teaching it either, so that would be a good song 😅 (sorry I like a lot of Marr’s songs)
...It just wasn't like the old days anymore
No, it wasn't like those days
Am I still ill?...
Awesomeness Adrian ...great work my brother!!!
My favorite Smiths track!
I love it when the Jazzmaster comes out!
02:08 "Feels like I'm trying to crack some fiendish code when it comes to figuring out JM guitar parts" 😂 Nailed it a gain Adrian, thanks for another in depth well researched and well presented lesson, keep the Smiths coming 👍🏻
Love the Dino shirt
Outstanding-can never get enough of Johnny Marr songs. Like others here, I did try to work this out years ago by listening to the CD over, and over….and over. I never got as close as this, though. Many thanks!
So cool !
Can always count on you for a great Smiths tutorial! Stretch out and wait next?
Thanks so much for all you do, the lessons are outstanding and I'm also blown away but how clean and articulate your recordings are - Just because you ask - Please do an in-depth tutorial on the outro for " There is a light that never goes out " - I haven't been able to figure that out and all the videos I have found are pretty lousy !
Top job Adrian! Much appreciated as there were a couple of tweaks for me which sound a big improvement. Any chance of Nowhere Fast next from Mr Marr? 🙏
Well that just made the Bank Holiday. Awesome.
Another wonderful lesson on the Smiths. Would love to see a video lesson on 'William it was really nothing' .
thumbs up!! my next Smiths song going to learn.. I've finished This Charming Man, Barbarism Begins at Home, Headmaster Ritual, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others, Suffer Little Children and Bigmouth Strikes Again!!
You take on Johnny Marr like a boss. Daunting.
YES MORE SMITHS!!!
Waiting on XTC senses song or similar … you have the best channel on utube
Magic!! Would love to see you do some MSP, Faster or anything from Holy Bible really would hit the spot!
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
More Johnny Marr would be great Adrian! Thanks...
Awesome.
Finally!
Would love to see Bigmouth Strikes Again! The thundering acoustic part and the cool lead guitar!
Great job as always. Any chance of a bit of nick drake sometime ?
Great lesson. One thing missing in an open B sting at the end of part 1 of the main riff, right before you play part 2 of the main riff let then open B string ring out.
TYFYS
Protect this man.
I approve this message
You had me at the thumbnail
thumbs up for the lesson.. sadly, can't do another for the Dino shirt :)
Fucking Great, saw this live Spring 84 UK tour
I never at it with a capo, but this is a damn good version so will from now on.
once I tried to learn Heaven knows I'm miserable now, even with tabs, but to no avail.. would love to see the lesson on this one:)
Fantastic job! Would love to see some Teenage Fanclub tracks on the channel. Sparkys Dream or Discolite maybe?
when online tabs fail, you succeed, thank you
Don't worry about the various interpretations of Johnny Marr riffs, it seems that usually somewhere on any Smiths track there are at least 12 different guitar parts to figure out!
Can you play the whole song ???
It's JUST A BEATIFUL PIECE OF ART TO HEARD IT FROM YOU... I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO DOWLOAD A FULL VERSION OF IT.
nice !
Great as usual, Adrian!!! Could you possibly do “I Wanna Be Adored” (live at Blackpool) by The Stone Roses? Cheers from the US!
I'd love to see you break down Nothing But Flowers by Talking Heads, although I'm not sure how you'd seperate Marr's parts from the others. Mind you, it wouldn't matter!
I would also love this!
Yes! This is very wanted.
Could you please do Rowland S Howard - Sleep Alone! Would love to see you tackle that.
JFM…i heard that. Nice.
