The Best Settings For Low Light & In General For Your Panasonic Lumix GH4 & GH5
Вставка

- Here is a set of settings that I've been using for years on my GH4 cameras, and also on my GH5 cameras. It helped with the high iso problems of the GH4 very much, and seems to do well with the GH5 as well. Out of the box the ISO limit on the GH4 seemed to be 800 (for me personally to find usable) and now I can go to 1250.
The GH5 still holds up in 2023 (unless you want AF to gimbal everything). Grab one here: amzn.to/3XAsVfL

Thanks! I'll give them a try once I get my new to me, GH4 in my hands this week!!
gonna try these settings tonight! Thanks a bunch!
how did these settings work out for you?
Thanks for the information, I will test tomorrow and let you know!
... a couple of days later 😅 I've tried your settings and I really like it, the only thing i prefer noise reduction - 5!
You're Awesome. Many Thanks! 😊
This was a great video bro! keep up the good work!
Very interesting! And very helpful! Thank you
Thanks so much! I’ll give this a try
Awesome dude! Thanks!
Thank you very much for tweaking the settings and finding the best ones. I have two GH-4’s, one G9 and GX80 and GX85 plus GX1. I have a repeating work to film weekly one bible study in a bit low light and in GH-4 I’ve been using ISO 1600 and didn’t notice anything terrible, but surely I will try these settings from now on. Do you think they would apply somewhat to G9 and my GX cameras as well? In GX80/85 I have hacked Cine D’s as well. Thanks again a lot! Jukka from Finland/Israel ❤
I would think it would, anything made it that time with a similar sensor and stuff. Worth a try, at least!
Thanks!!!
Sure thing!
thanks for this, very helpful. So what do i set the ISO at for low light contexts?
That is going to vary a bunch base don jus thow low light it is, what lens you have, ect but I try not to go past 1250 for a GH4 and 1600-2000 for a GH5
Thank you 😊
really liked your video! all the best from Transylvania!
vry helpfull thnx alots
Hey great video. Question: do these settings matter if i'm pairing my GH4 with an Atomos Ninja V? Or does the Atomos basically override the GH4 settings?
I've never used an external recorder, so I do not know.
SO FAR I'M USING MY GH4 AND I SEE A LOT OF NOISE, I'LL TRY TO DO WHAT YOU SHOW HERE I HOPE IT WILL BE GOOD
Turn down your ISO and get some lights.
I try your settings, they are fine. Could you tell me how to make your settings custom 2 or 3 ?
Lo intentaré.
Which settings of Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO do you use for recording in your room?
Would have been 1/50 shutter, aperture I'm not 100% sure but somewhere in the 2.0-2.8 range, and more importantly the ISO was 1250, which as I said in the video I find to be the upper limit for my GH4, and still well within the comfort zone of my GH5. I didn't do iso 3200 samples of the GH5 (my upper limit on them IMO) because the Gh4 was the camera that really needed the low light help the most and was the catalyst for me finding these settings.
@@upshotrundown Thanks. Very helpful!
It looks like you're shooting by yourself, so you don't have someone at the camera keeping you in focus. I have a GH4 and when I'm shooting myself talking to the camera, it's hardly ever in focus. I would so appreciate any advice! Huge thanks!
Correct, I don't have any help for AF, I normally set up on a Canon 24-70 f2.8 with a speed booster, and shoot at a F2.8-3.5ish stop. It seems to allow enough room for me to move around a bit and not be blurry. I put something in my chair, like a tripod or whatever I might have and focus on that. with the F stops I use, I have enough room for error. Or sometimes i look at about where I am in like with the keyboard and put a drink there and focus on that.
I got a question for u
ok... hit me with it.
Can you post some examples?
In the video I show footage from the GH4 straight out of the camera with those settings. That starts at 8:32.
So you are using a f1.8 lens on the GH4 with a speedbooster which gives an extra stop of light and still you have to use special settings in order for the camera to work in lowlight? Wow, that is a horrible camera.
I rarely use that lens wide open, I normally stay around F2.0 just for keeping things in focus better but by today's standards the GH4 certainly is flawed in that reguard. With some of the standard settings ISO 400 even started to be noticeable with the noise in the mids. The GH5 is an incredible improvement.
@@upshotrundown Thank you.
thanks for your story and these tweaks... somehow, fun enough, I pretty much had the same already dialled in ...only my contrast at was different at 0..... I'll try your +1 :).
Oh Yeah...Neat Video is also awesome.
Great minds think alike I suppose.
