I finally found out how to remove the screens off my third-story apartment windows! The only problem I have is some of the tabs are broken. How would you remove such a screen with broken or missing tabs?
Press upward at the top part of the screen frame - this will lift the screen as it squeezes the metal springs at the top (both left and right sides have springs, so you need to press on each side). Once it rises above the lower lip you can gently push the bottom outwards. (Because pressing both sides of the top of the frame at the same time AND pushing on the bottom can be challenging with only 2 hands, often you can press up on the left side and push the lower left corner out, then work on the right side) This is how I'd recommend handling any screens with old and broken/degrading tabs, as those partial tabs are still useful for helping put the screen back in place.
Thank u for the vid, I watched other videos and they weren't helpful, thos video is short and explains how to take it out and install it, I like how u explained about the tabs and how the springs are on the opposite side, I did not know that, at my place the tabs are on the side of the window not the bottom, if I wouldn't have watched this, I would have probly broken the screen trying to get it out

Wish me luck, as I can only install mine from the INSIDE (high floor condo) -- so I'm going to put the pull tabs AFTER the screen, then spline, -- then yes, tabs. I hope this works. Simply because, if I put the tab first, (this video, he is correct, of course, don't get me wrong) then spline then screen- I wouldn't be able to grab the tabs from the INSIDE of the house. I have a ridiculous situation here. My screen frame has spring clips on the top AND on the side! I struggled to take it out, had to nearly bend the screen to force it on removal. Once out, I now find it impossible to put back because the screen is too tall and too wide to go back into the slots.
@@basicworks1 Yes! I used a small wire as a hook to pull the frame. I had to force the frame to bow it vertically and horizontally in order to pull it into the slots. I sprayed WD40 to lubricate, and it's finally in place.

What do u do if your tabs are broken and cracked off??
Try lifting it with a plastic putty knife or such..tabs can be replaced once u have it out.
i know this is an old comment but when you get it out you can make new tabs out of duct tape

Some can get broke off...Use 1 and a small screwdriver to lift where the other should be...
