Bikus980 commented he was able to turn the cable opposite sides so the kink was at the top and that fixed it. May that will be a fix for you until the part is for sale.

@@Squisheyy I've just flipped the wire so the kinks are at the top and straightened them out. I also sprayed wd40 down the cable to reduce it sticking and it worked. Thanks for your advice, I had to watch you video again to see how to dismantle the helmet. 👍

Greetings from Serbia. Your video helped me to understand how this sun visor system is functioning. I have i90 HJC helmet, it is not RPHA 90s, but the problem is the same. I have managed to fix this by turning the cable oposite sides, so the kink side is now attached to the sun visor, and the healty one is at the actuator side. Hope this helps for emergency fixing, but I would suggest new part off course :) Regards

Wow, flipping it around is a great idea. I was thinking to try to add solder at the kink and then file it smooth to see if that would put the stiffness back in. Im really glad the video helped.

Your vid and the comments just saved me. Had installed Sena 30K and pinched the cable, so the visor wouldnt fully retract and was annoyingly in my line of vision when retracted. Stripped it all out and reversed the cable and it's like new

Like others who have left a comment here I managed to kink the glide cable after clamping my SENA over the cable, pinching it against the helmet shell, then trying to force the slide control back, after just purchasing an RPHA 90S, yesterday! I did a search for "jammed HJC cable" and got your video. Between you and "reverse the cable guy" I went from disaster mode back to happily excited with my new helmet. THANK YOU BOTH!

My RPHA 71 wire got 'bird caged" too. I twisted it following the grove it until it cant go any further, CA that part and let it cure. Greased it a bit and reinstall. Works again but dont know for how much longer.

Hi, in the comments some people flip the cable, also you can twist and solder lead into it like bicycle cable repair. You can also try to contact customer support to send a replacement. Fix will work as long as there is still cable strands left and not to damaged. If cable strands are too damaged, then the fix will not work.

Thanks. I'm having the same issue on my i90 (cheaper version of the RPHA 90). On a ride I couldn't get the visor to come down and fought with it a bit and broke the slider off the left side. I assumed it snapped on, but after seeing your video I see the tiny screws under the cheek pad.
My cable isn't kinked, but not sure what happened.

    • @Squisheyy

The slider does snap in. Your saying the plastic piece broke off the screws? Something else must be jammed up for the plastic to break

@@Squisheyy yeah you can see where the bosses should be that the screws went into. I thought they were snaps/clips at first.
My cable isn't bent/frayed though. I can work it with my fingers and get the full range of motion of the visor.

I had good luck contacting customer service, tell them it's less than 1 year old. In the comments some others did to, some did not. Also, someone reversed the cable with the frayed end on the top and that worked. And there is a bowden cable and you cane make lead ends, like a bicycle brake cable fix.
